The Wackys on the front look like just regulars with the normal copyrights. I wouldn't be surprised if there were 2 separate cards in there.  It looks like the text on the back cards were cut & pasted.

It would be interesting to find out if there are two cards in there or was Topps using leftover 16th series Wackys as paste-up boards for this other series?

This guy thinks these run-of-the-mill 1980's sheets are actually worth something.

What was the deal with these anyway? If I recall, there were like 20,000 produced for some reprint run or something?

Wasn't the theory that these were created to be inserts in Bond Bread?  Was that theory ever proven?

What I want to know is who are the nutty people that are bidding on this:

http://cgi.ebay.com/WACKY-PACKAGE-ACEO-ATC-TRADING-CARD-VIAGRA-PARODY-/310220056508?cmd=ViewItem&pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item483a8e67bc

The auction even says that the image was digitally created.  Obviously created from Plastered Peanuts.

Looks like we have two different threads with this same title.  Perhaps one of these should be locked?

This seller thinks his card is near mint, but some tape damage on the back lowers it to excellent condition...

When he says Near Mint, he means the card is next to a box of Girls Scout cookies.

Come on now, it has a Pupsi in it, along with free shipping.  What's not to like!
I was hoping someone here would pick up on this one. The seller and I went back and forth a couple times. Here's my original message:
Quote from: bigtomi to ebay seller
Hi. I don't have a question, except for how did you determine that these are worth $1,400? A lot of less than 50 Wacky Packs (including some '79-'80 reissues) is worth about $25 or so. The Pupsi-Cola is somewhat rare, but even it is worth maybe $25 alone. You might want to consider adjusting your starting bid amount...like taking the zeros off it. Just trying to help. Good luck!!
Here is their reply:
Quote from: ebay seller to bigtomi
I realize that 10 of the stickers from the reissues are not worth much, but 37 of them are from the early 70's and some have sold for $200.00 to $300.00 and some that I have sold for around $100.00. Even though my asking price may seem high, I am looking at all offers and the $1,400 is not a "starting bid" it is a buy it now price with option for offers. I find it rude that you would make a comment that I find to be insulting as dropping the zeros in my price. You are well aware that this item is worth more than $14.00 so you might not want to quit your day job lol. Thanks for your helpful insight.

So, here's my response:
Quote from: bigtomi to ebay seller
I am aware that the number was a BIN. My point was that this number is degrees of magnitude off. What tan/white backs did you get $100 for? What ones have you seen sell for $200-$300? As a long time collector, I am curious about this. I can also offer you this advice: If anyone offers you more than $50, take it, as they're as misinformed about these as you are.
Finally (as I let it go after this):
Quote from: ebay seller to bigtomi
Years ago I had a few that I sold at a card show, I think it was a dealer. I sold 5 cards and was paid close to $300.00. At the time I could not find the rest of my cards. My point being why am I to care about being informed I collected these stupid cards when I was a child and I could care less. My theory is that I will reduce the price periodically until someone buys them and I will be informed of the true value when that happens, until then I could care less. Also, why do you even care, if you are not interested and/or know that the price is too high, you can always move on. Regardless, all I need to know as a seller is that my price is better too high than too low because like I said I always reduce my price until it sells. My personal opinion is that all these items are valueless and are just clutter. I know you collect because I looked at what you purchase and I have to tell you I dumped alot of the items you purchased in the trash no disrespect, but partride family music???? Sorry, I couldn't resist. Happy Collecting

So, what I want to respond is: OK, then, send me the valueless Pupsi and you can wipe your ass with the rest, as far as I'm concerned.

But, it ain't worth it anymore...

I figured "what the hell"!  If enough people make him low-ball offers, he might just get the picture.

Maybe I will jump in and make him an offer, $25.  It's funny to watch this thing slide.  I wonder what he will think when he brings it all the way down to $100 and it still does not sell!

it's dropped a couple more times. only $299 now! what a deal!

I thought maybe they had just screwed up initially,  and were in denial or didn't realize what they did - to me it read in their response to your question that they meant to put $14.00, not $1400. forgot the decimal? no big thing
But apparently not... this is just ridiculous ...

Looking at ebay this afternoon reminded me of this topic to the point of where I had to leave a few comments.

I won't single-out any particular person but I see alot of re-selling of toppsvault items. I've lost my share of auctions but when I do I like to see what the item ended up selling for. There are some on there now being sold for 3 and 4x's the final winning bid when it was originally auctioned. These people must be overly optomistic or think collectors will think it's a deal.
