Sometimes jokes just write themselves...
Along the same lines...just incredible...clueless...and obviously zero research on what they are selling. Everybody thinks their sh*t is worth a fortune...

This is how I handle morons like this:

"I have 6 sets of these in mint shape without the stains that yours show.  I will sell them to you for 10% of your starting bid price($20) each for a total of $120 for the 6 sets since you feel these are worth $200 each.  You will make a killing!  I will even pay the shipping.  Let me know. "

I was going to shell out $1,700.00 (the BIN price) but now that I see these sets are plentiful, I am having second thoughts.  ;)

The guy wrote me back saying he liked his stained set and that he already has an offer of $100.  He is obviously the same guy that lists all those crappy singles just looking for a reaction from wacky pack collectors.

Ignore the fact that the sticker has tape affixed to the top and bottom, is badly stained and is missing part of the black border, as this specimen is "from a smoke-free environment". Classic.

I'm not sure why that earlier link fails, the 3 'rare' poster repros are still there. here's the full link.

For some reason the previous link (eBay auction number) you posted was resulting in an "auction has been removed" message. Did they post a new auction?

I see that now as well, but it's the same auction #. I'm wondering if the forum ebay linking button doesn't work anymore due to some 'improved feature' that ebay implemented or a fault in the forum code?

Patrick, it's because you have a space before the auction number in between the ebay html tags. No spaces allowed now, it appears (they used to be ignored, but like you say, it seems ebay's code is pickier now about the value of the item number).

This should work: eBay auction: #290810576218

Not really "nuts" per se, as the description is pretty honest, but I wonder what a sanded down Series 16 set is worth? I guess in this case, VG means "Very Glued".

Not only funny, but ridiculous. Obviously, ya don't hand sand down the back of Wackys....ya use a sandblaster.

"the artwork is unaffected" - except that all the colors are bleached by the sun. serious disconnect on that logic.

I seem to remember the original auction, where the set was sold in the frame, with the cards all glued to little foam core pieces and attached to a backing matte.

I assumed the seller was saying the original artwork for series 16 was unaffected

I was hoping some aspect of that crazy description was accurate!    ;D

This auctionhttp://www.ebay.com/itm/290822706062?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649 has been relisted twice now and the seller hasn’t changed the BIN($2300) even though there doesn’t seem to be any real interest. The first auction got one bid of $299.99(reserve not met), the second auction only got $72.27 and the current auction is at $36(reserve not met) with less than a day left.  I don’t know what the OS wrappers are worth, but the bulk of the lot ranges between the ’79 reissues and ANS not to mention some of them are described in (VG) condition. Is this seller nuts or am I missing something? What would you guys value this lot at?

I'm not sure exactly what this stuff is worth, but I'm certain it's way less than $2300. The Cloth wrapper and OPC packs were about all I noticed that really have much value (and, of course, the OS wrappers have some, too). This seller may or may not be nuts, but I'd bet they're rather clueless, regardless. Love the last line about drooling, LOL!  Uh, my mouth is open, but I ain't drooling...

There is no cloth wrapper, it's a 1st UK wrapper, and that's the only thing worth anything here (maybe $40). There's literally no other item worth $10, and that includes the '88 OPC packs. Seller IS in fact nuts ;D

I stand corrected. I actually took what was in the listing as what it was, stupid me. The seller is officially insane.  :)
