2014 Chrome series
« on: April 30, 2022, 01:13:07 PM »
This is one of the sets that came out while I was away from the hobby. Is is cool? I see it is titles from die cuts, 2nd and 3rd series, so I already have these stickers. Are the regular chrome stickers chrome, or just the backgrounds? I see the refractor cards are chase cards…..

The base cards are all chrome throughout, similar to ANS foil insert cards.  I may have raised this question previously, but does anyone know why there was no follow-up set(s)?  This set reprinted several titles for the first and only time, which to me was a pretty big deal.  I still prefer conventional stickers to the flashy stuff, but what the heck, can’t have everything like you want it.  The abandoning of further Chrome releases leaves a hole similar to never seeing a 3rd Abrams book .....

Is the 110 card base set all different titles? Or 55 regular titles and 55 refractor titles? I see on the backs, they say #32 out of 107. Oddly, Greg’s site has no information about the chrome set….

It's 110 OS titles, with the last three being checklists.

The base set is a combination of three Wacky series - the Die-Cuts (all 44 of them), the 2nd Series and the 3rd Series. The last three are the checklists for each series with a borderless picture of the Topps Wacky on each one.

Nope.
The last three are images of the three completed puzzles.

Thank you for the Master List info. I try not to compare sites, but Greg’s site has no info on chrome or the 2015 set…

I went all in for the Alternate Art/ Mixed Up Characters Chase Subset of 9 Cards.  They were inserted 1/ 1500 packs and were quite difficult to pull. I pulled 3 out a few thousand packs I purchased and traded for or purchased the rest. They make up one of my favorite grail sets.  Here is a bad pic of 3 of them. I can't locate other pics right now.

while traveling in Asia back in 2015 I handed a bunch of these chromes to kids begging on the streets of Cambodia, Thailand and Laos....  most kids liked them, but some were not happy it wasn't money...  :0

I was just going through this set again. I never realized that these cards are actually cards. They look like kiss cut stickers, but have a stiff cardboard back and are not stickers at all?

That’s surprising to hear, are you sure they don’t peel off?  I just remember buying a big mixed lot of base cards on the cheap on eBay.  My intention was to go hog wild making homemade magnets.  I never got around to it, but I just assumed they were the standard kiss-cut, peel-off format.

Before long new releases will come on a thumb drive.  Geez Louise.....

Me too!  To much like a NFT, and I only like fungibles, especially the ones that I can hold in my hands.

While they are cards, someone pointed out that you *can* peel the chrome layer from the cardboard backing, if you do it with care.
It kind of fun, and neat to look at.
The thin foil piece is easier cut through and to add to magnet sheets as well.
