Two months in a row now that the Houston sort facility has received my shipment from the Memphis hub and immediately sends it back.Guess Memphis is being too efficient for FedEx(Image removed from quote.)
My package has been in Memphis since Friday night. No change at all since then. This is a new route - my Wackys have never gone through Memphis before. The last few months they have been going from Florida to Indianapolis to New York.
This morning, mine showed going through Memphis also and onto Indy. Now on the way here.
I was shorted one pack this time. Here is the sketch card I received.
I tried not panic over the coupon collation, hoping it would even out at the end, but it didn't. I actually need four of one of the groupings At least the Wonkys worked out almost right.
I always cross my fingers before opening, but unfortunately for me it didn’t work.I knew I was totally screwed after opening just my second pack.Pack 1 had coupons in a pattern 2, 7, 12, 17 and Pack 2 had coupons in a straight run of 17, 18, 19, 20.Sure enough, my whole lot had a mix of coupons either in a pattern or in straight run.Unbelievable that Topps can’t do this right.
Hey, at least we don't have to deal with Ludlows any more...
July set up and available https://www.topps.com/2021-topps-wacky-packages-monthly-series-july.html
Has anyone besides me wondered why the playing cards don't have rounded corners? Topps used rounded corners on Stella Dorko, which I never understood, but here it would have made perfect sense. I guess it was a cost factor?
For the July set: 1) What chips does Terror Chips spoof? 2) I can guess Little Hair is another book takeoff - Maurice Sendak's Little Bear, perhaps?
How much do you want to bet Little Hair spoofs Little Bear?
And what does Lil Spitters spoof? And what does Bubble Junk spoof?
This ground has probably been tred before, but is everyone okay with Topps charging $60 for a set of 20 stickers with a few chasers. I remember when a pack was 5cents. I know, I’m old. But that’s $3 per sticker…couldn’t they sell a base set with no extras for $25 or $30? I realize some of you folks buy multiple sets pick out the chasers and re-sell the base set , which is cool..It IS nice to get a complete set for your $60, but you folks chasing the chasers must be made out of money…
Btw, is Hubba Bubba Bubble Gum still around after all this time?
Yep, Hubba Bubba is still around, as is Bubblicious and Bubble Yum. None of them sell remotely the way they used to. Soft chunk bubblegum (the technical term for this style of bubblegum) turned the gum category upside down in the 1970's when Bubble Yum launched the category, but since the 1990s it has seen a drop off in popularity, landing at where we are now. Between 2012 and 2016 or so, Hubba Bubba did some especially cool releases, featuring Hubba Bubba in soda-inspired flavors. I showcased four of them here:http://www.collectingcandy.com/wordpress/?p=16798They would go on to do Grape Crush and Dr Pepper Cherry flavored Hubba Bubba as well. Hubba Bubba also did a couple seasonal flavors, doing a Halloween Caramal Apple flavor and a Christmastime Hot Cocoa flavor... around 2016-2017 I believe.
