ANS7 Sketches

Here are the first three of my ANS7 sketches to hit eBay. Next week I'll try to get permission from Topps to post more.

ironically these are the only sketches to show up other then the Grazin Bran sketch. You did a hell of job. It's kinda ironic that you would have 3 of the 4 sketches

I have a hunch that we may not see too many ANS7 sketch cards on ebay. We got the first few but in the last couple days its been very quiet with sketch cards. I thing that we might be hitting the wall with sketch cards. I could be completely wrong but that is how most series go.

Well, Target just got in their first shipment of gravity feeds, which appear to have been scarfed up pretty quickly, and many comic shops won't even have any boxes until Wednesday, so it will be several days at least before people like me who are buying at retail stores will have more packs to open.  I also intend to buy a lot of bonus boxes and blisters when they finally hit shelves and I'll bet a lot of other collectors will, too.  As more packs get stocked (and restocked), more sketches will show up.

Plus anything folks have bought from Topps directly won't start shipping until Monday.  So, I would expect more sketches to show up as more product gets out in the wild.

These sketches are tough to pull. I opened 34 boxes and didn't find one. That is only 816 packs so it's not even close to the 2300 packs needed to find a sketch but I thought with some getting lucky I might as well. I did find 2 golds and 2 autographs so I did beat the odds somewhat.

Just when I think Topps cannot get any more outrageous with their odds for certain chase cards, they seem to outdo themselves.  I predict the sketch card odds for ANS8 will be 1:5000 packs.

Great sketches! I especially like the Crust and Quacker. Is the Crust reminiscent of the image on a t-shirt that surfaced not to long ago? Sorry I don't have more specifics on that, hopefully you'll know what the hell I'm talking about.

It's hard to say because the sketch cards are so rare with this series, we can't really compare it to the Postcard or Old School sketches.

The odds are longer than color sketches from Old School, but still, there were 6 times as many produced, so one would think there will be a lot more following the first 4 that will come up for bid.  Of course, if someone has the money and intent to buy every sketch they can, and the prices get well into four figures, then most Wacky collectors can expect to be left out.

I got in that Creep sketch and it is really amazing! It's much better in person than in the photo. I would love to get more but these things are going to be really tough! There has only been 4 on ebay so far which is really odd or they are really tough to get. No one on the forum other than Jerry has pulled one that I am aware of.

Thanks! I had the good fortune to get my feet wet on Wacky sketches with Postcards series 4, and I had been hoping for an opportunity like the ANS7 sketches. They were a lot of fun to do.

No irony here though. I scanned all of my sketches, but I only posted the ones that have been seen courtesy of eBay. I'm still going on Topps' direction as of a month or so ago, which was that I was not to post anything that had not already been made public unless I clear it with them. Which I'll try to do this week.

Thanks! I do know the Crust shirt that you mean. I wasn't thinking of it, but it was probably a subconscious influence. Topps wanted to see the full package in the sketches, and I followed that direction most of the time, but I found it hard to showcase the characters that way. So I did a number of them like the Crust in which I floated the character off the package. I used this Crust design 4 times with slight variations, 3 in black and white and 1 in color.

Glad to hear that you like the sketch. I drew about 7 unique variations on that Creep design. Three others have monster eyes/partial faces similar to yours, but you have the only one that's sort of a reptilian face, and all of the others are rendered in black and gray only, no color highlight like on the one you have.

It's a great look, very well done! I'd love to pull any sketch but pulling the color Crust would be the ultimate.

Plus, you knew what the hell I was talking about! It doesn't happen that often.

I split off this topic to start discussing sketch cards in general under the wacky discussion board. I think Fred wanted this thread to only discuss his sketches.

I added two more of my sketches that have come to light either on the forum or on eBay. Haven't had time yet this week to call Topps to ask to post more.

I used that Crust design three times in black/white/gray (with slight variations) and once in color.

I only drew the one Gloom...

Wow! At first glance I thought the Crusts that Cardgary has now for 2 grand was the same one that Rob won for $400. Now I see the difference. Either way Cardgary will never get 2 grand and Rob still got a hell of a deal!

I also have to mention you got that forum table thing down!

I also wonder why some artists are showing up more than others? Did certain artists get their sketches in sooner than others and it's first in first out or just luck of the draw?

I wonder if he didn't put the BIN that high knowing he wouldn't get it, but hoping that a Best Offer would be a grand or more.

I just looked up ebay auctions on my iPhone and Cardgary's sold for $1200. It's the same person that has bought 3 sketches tonight and it's not Leslie. Someone with e***s (235). They are on a terror to collect sketches. Good luck to those who pull them because this guy is buying!

Brent got his done way before me. Mine arrived at Topps on the drop-dead due date! I have to take Topps at face value when they say it's all random.

For all we know, a bunch of Jay's sketches have been pulled and are happily residing in the hands of non-forum collectors who will never put 'em on eBay...

Probably not with these pull odds and the kind of money that is being thrown around. Just a guess!

Plug that scanner into your Mac and ditch the PC. I use VueScan on my Mac and it works great! There really isn't much need for a MS OS these days because you can have both on a Mac!

The biggest problem that I have with expando is when the image expands so large that part of it is off the screen.  The system does put a scroll bar at the bottom of the image when this happens but when I move my mouse down to the scroll bar, the image shrinks again.  You can never scroll the image to the right when in expanded mode.

And I am using a PC with Firefox.
