Wacky Ads #2 - Plastered

Plastered
Whiskey Flavored Peanuts
Favored by drinkers everywhere

Real Product
Planter's
Dry Roasted Peanuts

I always liked the Wacky Plastered Peanut person. A good parody title. I am an admitted, biased user of the actual product. Looking through pictures to try and find a good match of actual product to Wacky, it strikes me that Planters was really big into product tie-ins and merchandising at an early time. Tons of Planters related cups, jars, trays, toys, etc. dating back quite a ways.

I've always liked this gag, and the peanuts are hysterical.  Great job on matching the packaging!

The 2nd series art is vastly superior - those are the peanuts I love!  This is another product I call by the Wacky name.

And the expressions on the peanuts in the jars are so much more refined (well, at least artistically).

Wacky Ads #3 - Minute Mud

Minute Mud
Frozen Orange Juice
The favorite of sophisticated pigs everywhere

Real Product
Minute Maid
Frozen Concentrated
Orange Juice

I would have preferred a "dirty" alternative (Having to do with mud - dirty, don't take that the wrong way)

Wow, remember that plastic white strip used to open it!     It was sometimes tough to grip.

As a kid I remember when it was my job to make OJ, I would sneak a little spoonful of frozen concentrate before I put it in the pitcher and added water.

Wow, Gleem has sure changed their packaging design a lot over the years. The closest I could find to the WP tube is a Gleem II box below. Anyone have a better match?   This a meh  Wacky for me. We didn't use this product so it didn't have much of an emotional appeal and the gags seem just mediocre on this one.

Vile is middle of the pack for me.  The rhyme title and gag are OK, and you're right, that's a great little skunk.

I think Ajerx is a great Wacky - good gag, great character, and a nicely done reproduction of the can.  Another product I still call by the Wacky name.

I think the quality of the gags and art increases in series 2.  We learned that Norm did NOT "paint all the diecuts" and in fact, once Topps realized they had something hot in wackys and saw how good Norms characters and touch ups were in the diecuts, they increased the usage of Norm.  I am not sure if the gag writers changed too but there seem to be fewer weird abstract references to things kids couldn't possible relate in this series.

I love the titles discussed so far from series 2, not so much the wacky ad versions but the series 2 versions. Like Pat, I refer to almost all of the products by their wacky names.

Blunder is the first one I am not a fan of from the list so far, I think of blunder as making a mistake and could never reconcile "blunder" and it being heavy.  This should have been wanderbread with the slices of bread wandering around like we had all proposed long ago and like the gag was presented in recent wackys.
