Boredom No.1 1967 Die cut Inquiry
« on: April 17, 2016, 05:53:12 PM »
Since Boredom was the very first of the entire Wacky Packages,I am somewhat surprised that the card is not a greatly valued demanding card worth a fair amount of money.I wonder why?

It being card number 1 doesn't mean it came out any earlier. The valuation of die cuts is based on many factors: whether the card is a number variation, a "non-repeat" (which Boredoms is), and for non-repeats, how early it was pulled (which determines the rarity). Boredoms, along with Alcohol Seltzer and Cracked Jerk, was printed throughout the die cuts run and so isn't as rare as some of the other non-repeats (though it is tough in high grade).

Sometimes being card number one makes a title tougher (the rubber band effect), and that may be the case here to some degree.

Collectibility aside, it ain't the greatest wacky artistically, which may depress demand somewhat.

Agreed, it is tough in high grade. But if selling an entire set raw one sticker at a time, all in similar condition,  the non-repeats I would expect to go highest would be Moron Salt, Campy, De-Mented and Jolly Mean.

Not counting Ratz and Cracked, of course.  8)

Interesting, as I would probably have put Schmutz and/or Muller above De-Mented. 'course, it might be that it's easier to find nicer examples of them than De-Mented [which better supports your list].

It's certainly not written in stone. The one thing that should make sense is the rarest number variations should equate to the most common non-repeats. I don't have any number variations or any experience in judging their rarity unfortunately.
