A couple of boxes I opened didn't have the poster or sketch envelope.  Has anyone else experienced this?  Is it worth contacting Topps?  Will they do anything about it?  Thanks.

I had two boxes of Old School 1 that were missing the envelope.  I called Topps, and they offered to replace them with new sealed boxes for me, but required me to mail back the boxes in question.  So don't kill all your packs!

I had this happen for one box during OS2. They had me return the entire box and then they sent a replacement box. Why they didn't just send the sketch envelope and save us both postage, I don't know... unless all sketch envelopes were already sealed in boxes.

Absolutely.  Most of the sketch cards are amazing.  The talent these guys have is most impressive.

That's the problem, that the artists have raised the bar so high that sketches done quickly stick out more in comparison.  A good deal of the sketches from this series are the best I've seen to date, and you can see how much time they must have taken.

I finally opened all of my boxes and will scan all of the sketches soon.  Here is the one from your box you had sent me for the Superbowl bet, and you'll be glad to see it's not a rare color or J. Lynch!  Nice sketch though........

Here are my four pulls from the pre-order.  It's a solid group - nothing totally amazing, but they're all pretty nicely done, and all different titles/artists.  Not bad for a random set of boxes.

Just keep in mind that here are all kinds of approaches to sketches and art.    Not all are tight or detailed.

But these are sketches for a Wacky Packages release.  The style does not match the cards themselves.  Regardless of your belief of this being a minimalist style, I don't think they work.  If I wanted stick figures of Wacky Package characters, I'd ask my daughter to draw them for me, not an accomplished artist.

Don't forget the hard-to-come-by Lynch sketch I pulled!  I pulled a total of 3 colors.  I wouldn't say I hit the loto because the number of boxes I purchased.

I am glad I saw this.  I have a Kirscht sketch that looked different but didn't pay much attention as to why.  After looking at it again, it turns out it is a pencil sketch as well.  Will try to post a pic soon.
Still looking for Series 17

Yeah, that one is my favorite of my sketch pulls.  The pen detail on the card is truly amazing.

This is really nice. I don't get it. I know you guys have been discussing this artist and I hate to throw him under the bus but why are his sketches so bad? I know it's an artist thing but this is really bad. I may try and do much better and let you compare because I'm no where near an artist. I feel bad saying this but it doesn't compare to the other artists. Plan 9 may have been right all along and this artist doesn't care. It's just a paying gig but this also reflects on your total body of work. People will buy other pieces. I have one of his and it's great but this is really bad.

For the 5 minutes it took him to do this,it's actually not that bad you recognize the character immediately
I emailed John the other day,he moves to the beat of a different drummer which is 1 good reason he should always be invited to contribute to WP

Rob also has another for sale. I've been fairly lucky because my sketch cards have been rather nice but when I saw this one I'm really glad mine have been nice.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2012-OLD-SCHOOL-S3-John-Zeleznik-Head-Boulders-Sketch-card-Wacky-Packages-/260966019287?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3cc2c970d7#ht_500wt_922

I really don't mean to throw Zeleznick under the bus but these are really not on the same plane as the other artists. We also said the same for Simko last year but he has really out shined the other artists this round. I know it's not a competition but I think internally it might be.

Well I'm an artist and I know artists so I know what motivated artists. In the case of sketch cards your passion for it usually runs out around card #150. By card #300 you start asking yourself why you ever raised the bar and by card 500 you think about becoming a carpenter. I'm not bashing artists. But in any case, if you think artists aren't trying to impress anybody then you're clueless.

So you did like 40 sketches for postcards 4.all the same. So now you think you know how other artists think? Other artists have pride. If they didn't want to do the sketches they would move on. The other artists actually collect other artist sketches even though you think they are chicken scratch. You obviously have your own demons other than what artists are putting out. You have a bigger beef that will reel its ugly head soon.
