Title: Wacky Package Erasers
Post by: BumChex on December 02, 2010, 09:21:12 AM
I received an email from Leslie about Wacky Package erasers from Topps. She sent me a picture of the flyer but I can't add it to the forum on my iPhone. It's something about 22 erasers total packaged with one eraser and 3 cards. They seem to be all ANS titles. Anyone know about this?

Haven't heard anything, but it sounds interesting (if a bit odd).  As much as I'm happy with the ANS, postcard, and OLDS series, I would enjoy the hunt for some licensed stuff in local stores.  I hope this turns out to be a cool item to collect.

A friend sent me this pic a little while back.  I didn't pay much attention to it because I only collect 2-D items, and I missed the fact that they come w/stickers.  It would be cool if the stickers were new but it sounds like they are just ANS titles already published.

Looking at the pic it appears the erasers are shaped like the products which is kinda cool.

I agree, the 'sculpted' aspect is cool.  Not sure yet if I'll go for a set of these - it will depend on the specific titles, as well as the price.  These could be really great to display in the right size cabinet.

These look to come in sealed packs which should make them more expensive to acquire as a set unless  people open them and sell sets on the bay. I was unaware of the "Emerging Collectible Eraser Market".   Sounds good to me.

I wonder if earasers are as popular as the rubber band collecting?
Could be.

Wow, I think that looks totally cool!  As others have said, it would depend a bit on the price and availability, but I would definitely buy a bunch of these.

not sure how much sculpting is going on, as they look flat to me.
although online, it's easy to find gazillions of color fully-3D 'collectible' erasers from Japan, so maybe?

I received an email from Leslie about Wacky Package erasers from Topps.

Looks like fun. As long as they aren't double-dog limited edition erasers that will sell out in 10 minutes during a pre-sale.

Seriously though, I wonder if they'll make GPK erasers too, the fans would go nuts over those.

My son and I count 9 of these that we have in our eraser collection. We hadn't seen that Mentos one and will be on the lookout for it. It looks like it says Mental or Mentals.

Frito Bandito erasers, yeah! Loved those as a kid. I mean a keed.

A friend of mine had the Japanese erasers when I was a lad waaaaay back in elementary school (back when vintage Wackys were brand new). He was Japanese and his father would bring them to him now and then to add to his collection.

I remember they not only had these cool, completely un-eraser like texture -- and were super colorful and detailed -- but they also smelled amazing! Almost edible! This almost tranquilizing sweet smell that was like no other.

Dang, I remember the Frito stuff! I even recall when they got rid of the Frito Bandito. Sad day.

I also recall another pencil-related fad when I was in elementary school. They weren't erasers but did stick on the end of pencils. They were little fruits and vegetable characters you could buy at the local Longs or Rexall Drug stores. They came in multi packs but some of these guys were much more rare than others and I recall people showing them off in the tanned bark playgrounds. Was always neat when someone had a new one no one else had ever seen. I seem to recall a coconut one that was especially cool. I had a banana guy that looked strangely like Mr. Spock. Man, I've got to find whatever remains of this stuff one of these days! :D

"tanned bark playgrounds" that's good

Were they puzzles? In case some people haven't seen these, most are puzzles, that the kids are into now. For example, a burger comes apart into the 2 buns, patty, and cheese. Many are pretty hard to put down. Can you imagine a teacher at the blackboard with a room of kids playing with their "erasers"? (Or, I mean at their projector showing a PowerPoint presentation)

Interesting. I may be tempted to buy a box, because I bet the gravity feed will be colorful with good graphics. The erasers sound like a fun collectible.

How did people get the flyers for this, and where/how can others get one?

I did end up ordering a box from my local comic shop this past week.  When I brought it up to the cashier, he said, "Wait a second, let's see if I can still do that".  Had me mildly worried for a minute, but he checked with the boss and it wasn't a problem.  Who knows, perhaps these will be everywhere, but I do think they're kinda cool and didn't want to miss out on getting a box.

Or is this an "available on the East Coast first" kinda thing?

Yah, you're probably right.  There could be several new series come out but if it wasn't for the odds of the tough stuff it wouldn't have to cost so much to collect.  Hopefully they steer more towards better odds after ANS7.

I've come a long way from chasing golds. At this point I don't care about anything other than a base set of every gag. Not what Topps calls a base set but a complete set of all the gags that are released in a series whether they be bonus stickers or whatever. I've totally lost interest in novelty chasers.

You were trying to complete a set with obscene odds. You came close. I would be frustrated too. I like to have at least one example of the tough chase cards for my collection. It doesn't bother me not to have the set. I did collect all the silvers from each series

The way I see it now, I'll chase sticker images I don't have. But I won't chase colored borders, glitters, sparklers, reflectors, mirrors, or any other souped up version of a basic Wacky sticker. Except for magnets. I'll chase those.

I guess it's just a different strategy to collecting. No one will ever collect everything I.E. you will never own all of the sketch cards from a series. Collect what you like and leave it at that. I want to collect examples of the tougher inserts but will never get them all such as the golds. To me that is just silly to throw that kind of money out to get a gold border. I would prefer to spend the money on the more unique stuff such as sketches and art.

I bet that does look nice.  I really like that title. The colors used in the artwork go well with the gold flash border.

This will be a big year for Wackys.

I'm very glad to hear this.  As much as I enjoy the stickers themselves, I also like all (well, most) of the licensed stuff.  Though I can't say I would ever have thought erasers would be a cool item, I do think they will be a fun thing to have.  Besides, they should be pretty easy to display (at least given their small size) and a managable set to complete.

Oh, and thanks for torturing me/us with your vague allusions!  ;)

well, if you go by retail price of $3/pack of 3, and a box going for $72, that says a box will be 24 packs with a total of 72 erasers.
seems like a reasonable guess.

I've been on the path of wanting to own at least one of each type of card, but after the colored borders and hard to acquire cards (like the Halloween Bio Cards) I'm starting to lean towards just owning the "easiest to acquire base set plus chase cards I really like".

No one's latched on to this possibility yet:

(1) Sketch cards of the erasers
(2) Sketch cards of the erasers erasing part of the sketch itself (my fave)
(3) Nearly blank sketch cards where most of the sketch has been erased by a Wacky Eraser (easiest to draw! ;) )

There has been no commentary on what the stickers will be.

yes. the 24 stickers are the cards of the 24 erasers. you will get the 3 cards for the 3 erasers in each pack.

well, since we don't know the full list of erasers, we can't really talk about the stickers...

the ad showed Chimps Ahoy, Sneez-it and Mtn Dude. So probably those three, but I'm sure that's subject to change. still 3 months away.

Hey! That's an Escher painting, hope I spelled the artists' name right. You know the guy, he's painted the people on the stairs going infinately up....

The description is very vague at the tfaw site, you really don't know what you are getting. I bet they don't even know what they're getting until the actual product arrives.  BTW, you have to type in "Wacky Eraser" into the search box, not Wacky Packages Erasers.

If I wasn't the nut that I am trying to collect everything that's exactly what i would do, I mean for the very expensive sets just get one example for each series.  That would still be relatively affordable and fun to collect, and you could still do it with a "completist" mentality because you would do it for every series and variation.

ANS7 has sold the slowest of any WP release I can remember. I think the bad odds are to blame. I bet we see the odds improved on the next retail release. I think Topps has gotten the message.

What gave you the impression ans 7 sold the slowest of any series? Judging by my local Targets and Walmarts it sold very well. I saw more box refills for series 7 than with series 6. I also saw a wider distribution of series 7 than ANY other series. Even Toys r Us, supermarkets, sporting goods and dollar stores carried them.

I hit about 6 Wal Marts and Targets on most days. I saw a glut of ANS7 in Targets after the initial 3 week collector pipeline fill. With Flashbacks I almost never saw the packs sit in a Target. This time around once they cooled off I could easily find nearly full Gravity Feeds in most Targets and still see them all the time. Yes more WalMart had them this time around but most WalMarts did not restock after the first shipment sold out. Slower sales I have observed lead me to believe Topps must be feeling a lack of pull through on this release. I trust someone from the company must keep abreast of what is stated on these boards and it has been stated by many collectors that the poor odds caused many collectors to not buy as much as they would have with better odds. If you buy a case and don't pull any Sketchs or Golds there is not much incentive to repeat that maneuver.

Regards,  DrDeal

I hope that's true. It is for me. I'd like to see collectors go back to collecting stickers rather than chewing through cases looking for an MF'n sketch card. However, if those case munchers could somehow disperse their excess base stickers to children everywhere then it would bring balance to the force.

I'm not sure what you mean by glut. Is there a glut of Snickers bars in the candy aisle? They always seem to be there. Flashback was a very small production. There wasn't enough to go around. Series 7 was huge. There's no comparison.

ANS has had a longer run than the original series so while it's not the biggest craze in kids world, it's definitely a staple.

I thought that the Flashbacks were produced at just under 600,000 packs and ANS7 was 700,000 packs?  That's a little more but not a big difference at all.

I think the 700,000 for ANS7 was just counting packs that had odds/inserts. Fold in the 2 types of sell through packs plus the cereal boxes and it ups the ANS7 quantity a bit more

Dollar Tree stores can account for at least 6000 gravity feeds. They have two boxes per store on average in over 4000 stores. The non-chaser blister packs, non-chaser gum packs and other non-chaser boxes that showed up in supermarkets and some sporting goods store might account for an additional 4000 24-pack boxes. This gives us roughly an additional 500,000 packs which brings ANS7 up to about 1.2 million packs.

I think that Topps way over produced series 7 for two main reasons. 1. It was the first all new series in three years. 2. With sketch cards being in one out of 2000 some packs they had to produce enought packs to fit the number of sketch cards. Slightly off topic but how many stores sold Series 7? I know of Target, Walmart, Kmart, Five below and dollar tree. Are there any I left out? That is the most stores of all all new series I think.

I took it as aimed at dealers, but the 'collect all 24' seemed out of place.  Perhaps for a dealer oriented flyer, they might have said "24 erasers to collect."

I was at Target tonight and looked at the trading cards section.  One of the "Coming Soon" posters was a flyer for something called "eraseez" (or something like that).  Don't think that qualifies as a fever, but perhaps there is some underground eraser fetish I had been unaware of previously.

I think the eraser craze started when the episode "Frankendoodle" was released on Spongebob. Somewhere around 2005.

Really?  I thought they used a regular lead pencil with an eraser on the end in that episode.  I guess I'm not in touch with enough kids to see the connection to collectible erasers.  I do try to give Wackys to the ones who are old enough though!

Someplace around here I have a BooBerry eraser from my childhood that I was never willing to use to erase stuff.  It might be on a Burger King pencil......

You're right, it was a regular eraser on the pencil, but that is what put the idea into everyone's mind of how cool erasers can be, thus spurring the emerging craze. That BooBerry eraser sound really cool. I suppose it's a pencil topper? You should find it and post a pic. on this thread! As a kid, I used to eat all of those, BooBerry, FrankenBerry and Count Chockula. Really all the sweet junky chocolate cereals I have had.

Well, I found the Burger King pencil, and a bunch of others, including one with fish all over it and an extra thick Snoopy pencil, but no BooBerry eraser yet.  Hmmmmm....  Geez, I hope I didn't put it in a safe place - that's the kiss of death!!

Pencil topper seems to be a good name.  Is it cheaper to make erasers or to just make these shapes out of rubber?  IF they are "collectible" it seems nobody will use them as erasers anyway.

Booberry will actually become scarey with half of his head erased off.

There is probably no real usage expectation, so they probably make terrible erasers if you tried to use them. Streaks of colored dye and smudges. Yeah, they'd probably be better off just making them little rubber characters and forget the eraser part of it.

I got the impression that it was just talk about the eraser craze itself and not Wacky's. I don't think they were talking about a new Blister Pack of Wacky's, just the erasers of a hamburger, banana, etc. Let me know if there's Wacky's involved here...

it's a bit fuzzy, but that's what it looks like:  6 Collectible Erasers.

which makes me wonder if there will be several different blister packs. Each will have 3 erasers as pictured on the blister itself, and then there are 3 additional 'mystery' which could be any of the other 21. Potentially 8 different blister packages? Not much fun if every single blister contained Chimps, Sneez-It and Mtn Dude.

That flyer makes it look like the erasers are flat, cut in the shape of the product, with the Wacky image pasted on. For some reason I thought that these would be more 3-dimensional, i.e. that the cans would be cylindrical. I guess I hadn't looked that closely before.

I believe they are 3-D. I'm trying to recall the brief conversation I had about these but I believe I remember them saying they were all shaped like the products and had a little mini sticker on them. They likened them to bigger versions of those older Wacky gumball machine trinkets. I think there are 24 different titles.

We will need some type of a  frame for this 21 eraser set. I can envision a nice little black frame with a WP Eraser Logo on top and space to show off your wicked cool sculpted Eraser collection. If they are pretty flat with a a little 3D effect that might work.

If I recall correctly (and I believe I do), it was $72 for a box of 24 packs, each of which contained three erasers.  Now that I think about it, that's a buck an eraser, which does seem a bit high, but that is my recollection.  I believe a couple people ordered boxes more cheaply from an online store.

Wrappers on the rubber, no printing on the erasers, I will have an extra set if I can trade for the seven I need.

I pre-ordered from TFAW back in Dec. 29th. Their site shows they don't offer them for sale anymore and my order still shows backorder.
I might have to hit Target!

Not bad!  And the cards/stickers with them are different from the regular stickers, so more to collect.  Looks like getting a set of those in nice shape will be a real challenge.

Not too bad, most are in very good to excellent shape! The stickers match the erasers in each pack.

So what is the retail price of these at Target?  The price is washed out by the flash on your image.

The cards are different?  Wow, I am surprised about that but pleasantly surprised!  I haven't been paying too much attention to them expecting them to be regular ANS titles.  How many different titles are there to collect?

As I recall, the eraser flyer said "Collect all 24", so if there's a sticker for each eraser, 24 different stickers to collect!  Now I wish I'd pre-ordered a box or two.

24 titles. 1 for each eraser.
and they'd have to be different, no way around it. The original card backs would make no sense haphazardly collected together like this. And it looks like they all have primary color borders too.

these look better than I thought they would. My initial impression is that they'd all be thick slabs cut into the right shape with a sticker stuck only on the top side. These have a bit more shape to them and have full wrap around stickers. Nice.
And I'm totally loving having one Die Cut thrown in there. Long live Demented!!

Demented, Boreo and ZitKat look really good. These appear to be very small compared to the size of the hands in the picture.

Can we speculate on what stickers and erasers from this set will sell for on the secondary market?
$3 for 3 erasers and 3 stickers is the retail. How do we determine a value for the erasers vs the stickers?
I figure 50 Cents each for erasers and for stickers?   Thoughts?

Lucky you!  I was right by my Target today and thought I should stop by on the off chance they were there.  Then I convinced myself that there's no way they would be and blew it off.  Geez, I'd at least feel better if the box I ordered months ago would have arrived.

OK here's the dealeo. I opened 8 packs and got this:

2 Boreo's - 2 Boreo Cards
1 Cavemanwich - Cavemanwich Card
1 Creeps - 1 Creeps Card
2 Deadbull's - 2 Deadbull Cards
1 Drool-Aid - 1 Drool-Aid Card
1 Foul - 1 Foul Card
2 Frosted Snakes - 2 Frosted Snakes Cards
1 Lapton - 1 Lapton Card
1 Mice Krispies - 1 Mice Krispies Card
2 Minature Maids - 2 Minature Maid Cards
1 Prickles - 1 Prickles Card
2 Slacker jacks - 2 Slacker jack Cards
2 Spites - 2 Spite Cards
0 ZitKat - 1 Zit Kat Card
1 Mtn Dude - 1 Mtn Dude Card
3 Chimps Ahoy - 2 Chimps Ahoy Cards
1 Just for Wolfmen - 1 Just for Wolfmen Card

Each pack has cards that are (usually) the same as the erasures inside. I did get some that were mixed, ZitKat and Chimps Ahoy.

I also have 8 checklist cards, but they are all the same. Dont know if this was a mistake or if others exsist. They show cards 19 to 24 and mention that 21,22,23 and 24 are rare. The packs state that the "rare" eraser are 1 in every 4 pack odds. So they are not impossible to obtain.

CONFIRMED: WALMART HAS EM!   I went to the local Walmart at lunch and purchased a full
gravity feed box of 24 packs. A few thoughts while opening:

- Wrapper collectors rejoice... these wrappers are indestructable and can easily be opened
without tears, rips. etc. In fact, I opened 23 of 24 without incident using the
   "potato chip bag" technique.

- Stickers are album sized and are somewhat warped and bent due to being in bags but looks
like they will snap back into place once in an album page or pressed in some fashion.

- Be a little cautious when removing the erasers from the wrappers. A few of the beverage can
shaped erasers wanted to stick to the inside of the wrapper due to a little extra glue. Not sure
how hard it would be to accidentally rip one of the labels off but be careful.

I only had time to collate the stickers. I will post the collation in a bit and the erasers collation later
this evening.

Happy hunting.

each pack has 3 stickers, one each to match the 3 erasers in the pack.
tough eraser = tough card

I'm not so sure yet... I haven't collated my erasers yet but I often only had 2 erasers match the cards in each wrapper. I ended up with 5 of some of the "scarce" titles (stickers) so I am beginning to wonder if its the erasers that are "scarce".

24.   Wolfmen
Right, Series 7's JUST FOR WOLFMEN is the 24th title and one of the four RARE erasers/stickers (meaning you can only find one in one out of every four packs).

Here's something I found interesting today, I hit three different TARGET stores near me in NY and got three full Gravity Feed Boxes....in each of these three seperate stores I was charged $1.99 per pack, not $2.99 per pack!!!!!!!

Regards, Fatso

Apparently Target incorrectly priced the erasers since those of us who purchased them were not charged the $2.99 as is listed on the box.

Okay, I collated the erasers when I arrived home. Here are the counts for one Walmart gravity-feed box (24 packs):
#    Title                         Stickers Erasures
-    --------------------   -------- ---------
1.   Boreo                           3       3
2.   Capn Crutch                  1       1
3.   CaveManWich                 5       4
4.   Creeps                          5       5
5.   Dead Bull                       4       4
6.   Demented                      5       5
7.   Ditz                              2       2
8.   Drool Aid                       3       3
9.   Fool                             4       4
10.  Frosted Snakes              2       2
11.  Geek Giant                    5       5
12.  Jelly Bully                      3       3

23.  Sneez It                      1       1
24.  Wolfmen                      0       0

Even though I had 6 wrappers where all 3 stickers did not match all three erasers in that pack, I only ended up with
2 mismatches for the entire box. From My box results, I had Sneez It, and Wolfmen and the scarce of the 6 scarce titles.
In my box, CapnCrunch and Slacker Jacks were also scarce (1 apeice),

I am up for trades... I am looking for stickers and erasers: CapnCrutch (1),  Slacker Jacks (1) , Sneez It (1) , and Wolfmen (2).
I have most other titles of both stickers and erasers to trade.

Yes, I didn't mention previously but I did have 2 packs with only two erasers but one of these packs had 2 checklists. So I ended up with 25 checklists.

I have completed my first set! I need two Wolfmen and a capN Crutch

Not quite. Though you could probably feel the shapes, each title is not unique shape-wise. For example, you could have a Dead Bull or a Prickles, the eraser/rubber itself is identical.

I went to the local Target and they had nothing. They are notoriously slow at stocking the shelves. If I get impatient, I drive to other surrounding cities.

Are these erasers displayed with the collector cards?

The display box I bought at Walmart was in the collector card section. I wonder if Toys R Us is carrying these as well.

Like bigtomi indicated, it would be difficult. there are only 6 different shapes used across the 24 titles so even if you could access the shapes in a pack, it
doesn't guarantee the title you would want.
Title: Re: Wacky Package Erasers

I don't understand your question
each pack has 3 stickers, one each to match the 3 erasers in the pack.
tough eraser = tough card

Update... Even though I had 6 packs where only 2 titles matched the stickers, for the entire 24 pack box,
I came out almost even in terms of number of each card versus the number of each sticker. It might have
been even but I had two packs with only 2 erasers (one had 2 checklists as consulation I guess).
I did find that 2 of the "rare" titles were indeed scarce in my box (1 Sneezit and 0 Wolfmen), I had "common"
titles in the same numbers: CapNCrutch and Slacker Jack at 1 each. I did get 5 of the "rare" title Mtn Dude in my box.

Just picked up 17 packs at my Target (bought all they had left)($1.99 a pack). My 7 year old son loved them. He was more into these than any sticker series.

I am three erasers short: Wheez-It, Ditz and Captain Crunch (also need the same three stickers).

Lots to trade. Apparently, they enjoyed making Fool Iced Tea. Got 6 of those.

They were $1.99 at target, but the box clearly was marked $2.99.  May have to go back and pick up a few more packs before they figure out the pricing error.

no kidding. it's cheaper than any of the pre-order prices.

my Target didn't have them out for display yet, but still in the delivery box off to the side. I only picked out 12 of the packs, but I may be going back for more.

- Wrapper collectors rejoice... these wrappers are indestructable and can easily be opened
without tears, rips. etc. In fact, I opened 23 of 24 without incident using the
   "potato chip bag" technique.
Am I the only one that opens potato chip bags at the top?
I tried this with the eraser pack, and ruined it.
Opening by pulling apart the seam running down the back of the pack was a cinch.
But I've never opened a bag of chips that way.
I'll have to try that. I'm guessing just for the vending machine bags...

I went through 12 packs without completing a set - missing 6 commons. Fairly poor distribution, but maybe if I buy the rest of the gravity feed it will balance out.
Great odds on the "rare" ones though. 9 out of 12 packs.

2   Boreo
1   Capn Crutch
2   CaveManWich
0   Creeps
3   Dead Bull
0   Demented
0   Ditz
0   Drool Aid
1   Fool
0   Frosted Snakes
2   Geek Giant
1   Jelly Bully
0   Lapton
3   Mice Krispies
1   Miniature Maid
2   Prickles
1   Slacker Jack
4   Sour Puss
4   Spite
1   Zit Kat
4   Mountain Dude
2   Chimps Ahoy
2   Sneez It
1   Wolfmen

The Target I snatched my erasers from only offered them in the large gravity feed and Walmart offered them in the smaller gravity feed. There wasn't a hobby box of sorts if that's what you are getting at.

I'm sure most of you know of these and probably use them but here's a good storage case for the erasers.  They are the inserts for tackle boxes, I picked them up at Meijer and the small was about $4.00 and the large around $6.00.  You can pretty much stack the cans 2 high and the boxes 2-3 high.  In this photo I have the cans laying flat, the boxes stacked 2 high and the others on their side.  On the larger case the stickers don't lie flat as they so in the smaller one but the way they sit slanted I can still close the case but not to ruin them I'll find another storage means.

I may be totally imagining this, but didn't we see some pic or advertisement or something for packs that had 6 erasers?  Again, memory may be faulty, but I thought it had a cardboard back that would hang on a shelf.  Could there be two different types of packaging that might be released at different times of year?

Bad info about the stickers not being in these, but you can get your missing common erasers cause you can see them  through the packaging.  I am missing #3, 8, 10, 17 and 23.  Bought 15 packs at Target.  The horrible salesgirl wouldn't let me take the empty gravity feed box.

Final tally on a gravity feed. Poor distribution, but the rare ones aren't rare at all and showed up in 2 of 3 packs. (16 out of 24)
It's ridiculous that I got 6 Mtn Dudes and 8 Spites, but 0 Frosted Snakes or Creeps

3   Boreo
1   Capn Crutch
4   CaveManWich
0   Creeps
6   Dead Bull
2   Demented
1   Ditz
1   Drool Aid
2   Fool
0   Frosted Snakes
5   Geek Giant
3   Jelly Bully
1   Lapton
5   Mice Krispies
2   Miniature Maid
3   Prickles
3   Slacker Jack
4   Sour Puss
8   Spite
3   Zit Kat
6   Mountain Dude
4   Chimps Ahoy
2   Sneez It
3   Wolfmen

So now I read on here that the people who pre-ordered paid more per pack than what they are selling for at retail?  And now they are saying they won't even ship the pre-orders until June 29?  And they are balking at refunding the pre-orders?

That is pretty ducked up.

I'm hoping Target doesn't realize their mistake and reprogram before I can get there tomorrow  :^)   Also, I am wondering if Topps is going to get heat for the hobby box eraser 'pre-orders' being later than big box store stock.  Topps didn't offer those pre-orders to individual customers, distributors did, but if Topps supplies the hobby product significantly later, they're likely gonna hear it from the distributors, and there's a chance that some people are going to incorrectly associate this with the Topps Old School pre-orders.....

I know a couple of collectors who bought cases, and if the retail packs are selling at $1.99/pack, they paid more than retail.  That would make me pretty upset.

I think it's pretty clear that Target has made a mistake in their pricing, and that $1.99 is not the correct retail price.
the pre-order folks got a good discount off of true retail, but you can't fairly contrast that against an inventory error and say they are getting screwed.

found some packs at the Target yesterday as well.

Grabbed about 20 from the gravity feed, and my collation
was pretty bad.  Got the rare ones fine, but missing
Slacker Jack, Mice Krispies, and Ditz.

Got at least 6 Minute Muds and Fools, go figure :)

I'm sorry to hear your (and other people's) poor distribution results.  However, I'm happy to know that the rare ones may be produced in the same (or comparable) numbers to the allegedly more common ones.  I was very bummed when I first read there were rare ones as I really like the idea of having a complete set.  If the worst that happens with the collation patterns is that we have to do a little trading, well, I can live with that.

I don't know if anyone has mentioned this yet, but another collector I know heard that these packs have showed up at the Dollar Tree.  I went to my local store and nothing, but that doesn't mean much because they never had any ANS7 there, and plenty of others found those.  I am wondering if there will be any wrapper variations with these.  Has anyone compared the codes from Walmart and Target yet?

I went to a Target and Walmart today at lunch.  Target did not have any but the Walmart did.  The Walmart packs rang up for $2.98.  I only bought a couple of packs in order to check them out.

The Walmart wrapper had the following codes:

0-790-54-01-0

UPC:  0-41116-00790-3

I stopped off at ToyRUs today and found a rack with 8 of these blisters on them.
From my observation, there are only 3 different arrangements of visible erasers (3 unique packs), each with 3 different erasers.
so you can't put a full set together just by picking up blisters and looking through the plastic.
The blisters have 3 unique spots, one for a big box, one for a can and one for a small box.

the 3 blisters are:

Frosted Snakes, Geek Giant, Jelly Bully
Cap'n Crutch, CaveManWich, Boreo
Ditz, De-Mented, Creeps

Now I understand what they mean by "mystery" erasers. They're from the regular set, you just don't know which ones they'll be until you open the pack. I was hoping for more titles.

doubtful.
but you could always visit the guys that made the first set and ask them
(I like having these CPSIA codes on the product, they tell you exactly when they were made)

Name: 2010 Wacky Package Erasers

These things look pretty cool, but I'd be a lot more excited if they were done in the vintage Wackys instead.  I only see one classic title in the bunch.  Still, I'll probably pick up a set of these for dirt cheap after the next "new" thing comes out.

I picked up a couple of packs at Wal-Mart today. As others have said, they are kept in the same place as the trading cards.

I got one of the rare titles out of the two packs I bought. These erasers are pretty nifty. I don't know if I'll pursue a full set or not... probably depends on how long the gravity feed lasts.

I'm not 100% sure.  It was a "friend of a friend" kind of thing.  I'll try to get more concrete information.  I would think they would have to be different because they have to sell them for a dollar.
Title: Re: Wacky Package Erasers

I finally found a Target today with packs.  I bought 24 packs and ended up needing an 8 and 14, so I did well with the so-called "rare" ones.  The stickers are even smaller then I envisioned.  I'm not at home to measure but they look even smaller than the album sized cards.  They are kind of cute!

I have box coming in soon that I'll let my daughters open.  I think they'll get a kick out of them.

I noticed that the wrapping with the art are not actually stuck on the erasers.  They appear to just be tightly applied.  I slid a couple off fairly easily.  I guess that's by design so when the eraser gets used you can keep using it.

Stopped by my local Target today and was pleased to see the gravity feed box.  I bought three packs just to make sure they rang up at 1.99, then went back and bought the remaining 20 packs (and display box).  I kept one pack open and, minus the one pack that was missing from the box, got the following from the 22 packs I opened:

2   Boreo
2   Capn Crutch
5   CaveManWich
7   Creeps
2   Dead Bull
2   Demented
1   Ditz
4   Drool Aid
4   Fool
3   Frosted Snakes
1   Geek Giant
1   Jelly Bully
0   Lapton
3   Mice Krispies
3   Miniature Maid
7   Prickles
3   Slacker Jack
3   Sour Puss
1   Spite
1   Zit Kat
4   Mountain Dude
5   Chimps Ahoy
0   Sneez It
1   Wolfmen

Not the greatest collation, but, as others have noted, the rare ones don't seem so rare.  I'll pick up a few TRU packs tomorrow if I can find them and post a list in the Trade section.

I will vouch for others who said the distribution from the packs is not great.  From the 24 packs I got in the Target gravity feed, I only got 19 of the titles.  Looking to trade for the following eraser/sticker combos if anyone is interested:

Capn Crutch
Ditz
Lapton
Mice Krispies
Just for Wolfmen

I have the following that I can trade, with corresponding stickers all in nice shape (no creases or bent corners):
Boreo
Cave Manwich
Creeps
Dead Bull
Demented
Fool
Geek Giant
Jelly Bully
Miniature Maid
Prickles
Sour Puss
Spite
Zit Kat
Mtn Dude
Chimps Ahoy
Sneez-It

Good idea.
Michael's has a nice variety of shadowbox frames. I may get one large enough to hold a sealed blister and regular pack as well.
Michael's has shot glass shadow box style frames with individual squares to seperate the rows and columns. The erasers would look great in one of those! I was actually thinking of getting one for the Fleer Chug-a-Cans set I am working on. By the way, does anybody have any extra Chug-a-Cans to offer? PM me if you do!
Thanks,

Yes, I bought 18 packs today at Target in Antioch, Ca for $1.99ea. Out of 18 packs, I'm only missing Frosted Snakes and Wolfmen erasers/stickers. If anybody has extras of these titles to trade, I've got a lot of dupes to offer including a "rare" Sneeze-It.

edison had nothing and milltown had a empty feed
walmart in edison had nothing

I opened one pack and I was not as impressed as I thought I would be
everyones descriptions did better justice than the eraser itself
I just thought they would be more 3D than this.
the prickles is just a tube shape, ditz is a rectangle and jelly belly is a smaller rectangle
maybe the cans and candy have more details, or at least thats what is seems from the pics.
I do like the mini stickers
I could see them growing on me though...
and I put one in my nieces b-day giftbag with some other wacky items- I know she will love them

Wow, 75 packs!  You're going to have fun opening them.  I hope the collation works out for you.

By the way, is the Target card simply a store credit card in which EVERY purchase is 5% off?  I've seen ads, but that deal almost sounded too good to be true.  I do like Target and shop there pretty often, so perhaps I should look into getting one of those cards.

And on another off-topic question, where do you live in Lake County?  I'm from Deerfield originally and my parents now live in Lake Bluff.

I'm sure most of you know of these and probably use them but here's a good storage case for the erasers.

I found the perfect display box  for the erasers, but it is pricy.  I found it at Michael's.  It is called a 10" x 13" The Collector Box.  It is marked at $39.99 BUT is currently 40% off; so it is closer to $24.00.  The box has 12 individual cubicles that can hold 2 erasers each (24 total).  It can be displayed horizontally (3 rows of 4) or vertically (4 rows of 3).  I like the horizontal better. (No jokes please).  There is glass on front of the box as well to keep dust out.  It kind of looks like a shadow box with 12 compartments.  My only problem is I still need that darn #17 Slacker Jack before I seal up the back.

My 1st impression of the "mystery" erasures were that they'd be different titles outside of the set. Now I get it, "mystery" because you cannot see them like the others through the blister. But wouldn't that make the other packs that are sold from the gravity feeds TOTAL "mystery" packs? I dont know what they should have called the other erasures that you can not see, maybe they could of just said

Just a heads-up.....I found out the hard way with some old rock posters I hung up in the 90's that the blue HandiTak stuff can leave oil-like stains on paper.

OK here is an oddball idea I heard of someone doing years ago when they were trying to figure a way to prop up their miniatures while painting them. Purchase a pack of those portable plastic U-shaped flossing tools, cut the string and prop the item between the opening an either tape, velcro, pin or if you wish glue the back end of the tool to the frame itself.  This would act like a prop stand and keep the item from moving. I'm sure this may be time consuming or just not the look you are going for but it's worth a shot if you come up with no alternative measure.  Have you tried searching online for miniature stands, something they use for tiny plates or collectibles?

I have used this place before when purchasing cabinets for my sportscards and wackys.  They have doors that open so you can move items around, take a look:
http://www.sfdisplay.com/mirrorbackand4glassshelvesshotglassdisplaycasecabinet.aspx

They even have a thimble case, you could lean the erasers just a bit, take a look:

You're the one? I was there yesterday afternoon looking for them. I was with my mom who could see my disappointment. On her way home she stopped at the E. Windsor Target and found a full gravity feed. She bought 15 so there should be some left. Yes...I'm 45 and my mom still buys me Wacky Packages.

I don't know if this would work but Michaels sell these little containers of a waxy product used to keep the village pieces from falling down.  It works pretty well.

erasure = 80's synth pop band
funny!

I’m into displaying stuff and have an idea that might be cool for erasers.

You could cut some pins (for example, thin straight pins, like the ones that come in folded dress shirts) in half, stick them in the wall (for example, on the wall near your desk) and stick the erasers onto the pins. The items displayed appear as if they are floating in space. The angle that the pin is inserted into the wall and the location it is stuck into the erasure can be adjusted to orient it any which way you want. The erasers could be displayed in a line or scattered randomly, as if they were thrown on the ground. I estimate 2/3’s of my displays are linear and 1/3 random scatter. I think the ratio has changed over the years.

By the way, is the Target card simply a store credit card in which EVERY purchase is 5% off?  I've seen ads, but that deal almost sounded too good to be true.  I do like Target and shop there pretty often, so perhaps I should look into getting one of those cards.

Think of it as a check card used at Target. Instead of writing out a check, you will use this instead.

Dude! great idea... even to use in a display case - having the pin through the back so that it is floating in the center of the cublicle in the case like the ones these guys are showing...as long as the pin goes through the back...i like it!!! THX

now i just need my box orders to come in so i can get erasers...i might break down and go buy some...

I was in target yesterday with my daughter and i should have bought the gravity feed...we only bought on pack arghhhhhh....must go back....

My son and I checked out the local TRU on the way home from church today and found the same thing.
Each blister packs seems to have one of each of the 6 different shaped
erasers.. the three you can see:
      1 big box title,
      1 small box title
      1 small can title
and 3 "mystery" erasers. Each blister I bought had:
       1 big can title
       1 soda can title
1 one "soft-wrapper" title (like ZitKat).
I only purchased 3 blister packs so can't tell if all follow this rule but mine all did. If they do, it MAY mean
that if you can't see "WOLFMEN" or "SNEEZ-IT" as one of the three visible titles, they will not ever be one of
the mystery titles.

BAD ASPECTS OF TRU BLISTERS:
           - Erasers only... no stickers
           - $6.99 for 6 erasers... WTF?

GOOD ASPECTS OF TRU BLISTERS:
          - Since you can see three of the titles, some of what appear to me
to be medium harder to find titles like Frosted Snakes, CapNCrutch,
and DItz can be seen and are a sure thing.

I bet TRU charges a buck more than other stores for this item.  I saw at my TRU yesterday the GPK Flashback blister packs (2 $1.99 packs plus a bonus sticker) for $4.99 and it reminded me of how TRU seemed to be a buck higher on all the ANS 7 blisters as well.  I don't know if any other store will sell this larger eraser packs, but I wouldn't be surprised if they were only $5.99.  I still don't like the lack of stickers and the fact that there are only three possible combos to see, but I do like the packaging.  Makes me think, if these packs are produced in large numbers, that the 9 visible titles (among the 3 variations of these pakcs) will be among the most common titles of all.

It seems that the erasers that are the hardest to get are found in the TRU packs which makes me think that the stickers for these will be the hardest to collect.

My mom almost did the same thing when I was at college. I had most of the Series 3 through Series 16 that I had collected when they first came out. Luckily, when she cleaned my room, she threw all the stuff she intended to toss out on the bed and gave me a chance to look through it first. Phew!

Here's another display I'm considering. 4 1/2 inch long miniature shopping carts. They're in perfect scale with the erasers.

Thanks for posting your pic and link.  These look quite cool and perfect for the erasers.  Unfortunately, I wasn't able to get to the auction from your link.  Can you either try again or just post the seller's name?  Thanks!

maxxdog64 is the sellers name

auction #260734077010 is the buy-it-now

Can anyone help with a few eraser needs of mine?

I'm looking for two (2) Mice Krispies, and one each of Ditz and Slacker Jack.

I have many extras of most of the titles, or just plain purchase, whatever suits you best!

Thanks!

hey - guess what finally, finally freakin showed up in the previews shipping for this week...
Yep. Erasers.
Guess we'll find out if there is a 'hobby' version of the wrappers or boxes, or if it's just the same feed as at target or walmart.

Weird.  My local comic shop, from which I ordered a box, supposedly got them in last Wednesday.  I haven't picked up the box I ordered as I told the manager they had been released weeks ago and I had already completed my set.  He kind of reluctantly let me off my commitment to buy the box.  I'll probably still pick up a few packs to support the store, but how strange and annoying that comic shops would get them so much later than the Targets of the world.

They were on the Diamond ship list this week, but shipped last week -- that often happens with oddball products like this one -- but it was only a couple weeks later than Target. It's common for Diamond to run behind with products that are also available through Walmart, Target, etc., in part because they have lower orders than major retailers and so are lower priority (which is why comic shops pay more for these products down the line than major retailers; the discounts suck for more "mass market" products). So that's why your comics retailer was reluctant to let you off. He's got more $$$ tied up in that box than a Target would have, and they're less likely to sell in his store.

Thanks for that explanation.  I thought it odd that the erasers were behind Target when the ANS all arrived at or before Target.  I don't buy comics much anymore so I only go to the store once a month at most.  However, I'm happy to support the store and when I go in there next, I'll check into it.  The manager did say another customer had expressed interest, so it may have been sold to him/her by then.

Yeah, it was frustrating to have to sit here reading about everyone finding the erasers at Target for two weeks while waiting for my own box to show up at my local comics shop. Plus, while my store offers discounts for regular customers, they couldn't with these because of their poor wholesale cost, so in a sense I could have just gone to Target as well -- same price, two weeks earlier. But unlike you, I'm at my store 2-3 times a week (it's only a 5 minute walk from my job, plus I'm close friends with everyone there, so it's the obvious place to take a break), so getting the erasers there ended up being more convenient than driving 20+ minutes to a Target, even with the wait.

All's well that ends well . . .

So I was in Toys R Us this weekend and BAM! this package at the checkout caught my eyes. It was a Wacky Eraser Blisterpack for $7. Never seen or talked about. Bought one and I was shocked that it had no stickers, just erasers, the MYSTERY erasers were just put in a foil bag with scotch tape. What a let down. So much effort but in for a nice display and they forget the stickers

Guess you missed that thread. These were discussed quite a bit right after the erasers came out.

I, personally, am getting tired of all the packaging. I'm done collecting all the different ways to package erasers and sketches.

Oh, that's right, I can't be done with something I never started...   ;D

found a bunch at my target too.
looks like repackaged leftovers. I found one that had the early error price of $1.99 stuck on one of the packs still, so I got that one.

I love that CardGary's is calling them rare yet you found them in your local target.

Thanks. I like the cases that were on ebay, and I thought of the fishing takle ones, but they are not real clear. I may custom make some thing that will fit each size of eraser nicely......

I found some Jewelery Box Cases for around $9. that have 18 compartments in them and hold quite a few decently for display.

I went to either Joann Fabrics or Michaels & bought a BEAD ORGANIZER made by DARICE. it has 17 compartments. I doubled up on some slots so it looks cool & had space for the cards, they are not displayed but it all fits nicely. The bead box is10.25" x6.75" & cost around $2.00

When they create Series 3 They Should Drop The Cards And Add 6 Erasers Instead Of 3

Did series 1 come in a 16 pack box like series 2, or only in the 24 pack boxes?

Those were fun series!  And, I hate to say it, more fun than the minis due to distribution.  I hope the minis next round will help out in terms of distribution considerably.
