Re: low numbers for January, at least in my emails from Topps, all week long they never promoted the Wacky Packages set at the bottom of the emails among the other 5-8 products they want to promote. Usually, they're down there at the bottom of the emails all week long while they're live. Come to think of it, I don't even think they had a "Last Chance" promo on Wednesday morning's email. So, lack of promotion may have been a problem here. We may very well see non-regular forum members come on later and say, "I totally missed it!"

That likely didn't help. I'm responsible for a drop of 20, which is partly because I (and my wallet!) needed a break this month. Last month we had both the December sets and the Attacky Packages Series 5 sets, and another month with two sets (including Old School 10) was just too much. Also, with some strange dirt cheap coupon sets on ebay lately, I'd have to lose a lot money just to match ebay, and I have always tried to charge less than ebay :P With such a steep drop though, I am a little sorry I didn't order more. Wonkys and coupons are going to be a lot tougher to complete, and if people can't complete the January set, they might not bother trying the rest of the year........ that's what happened to me with the 2020 weekly sets.

My sketch ratio was 1 to 28.3. I guess that's what happens when regular sketches meant for 747 December sets are stretched out across 1166 Attacky sets.

I thought you were still considering the coupons. I actually enjoy them, and hope to end up with a set for myself, and help a few people here with trades. But random insertion instead of groups is probably going to mean more trades than I expected.

Mine were supposed to arrive tomorrow, and showed up today instead. I agree, the Wonky reverse is nice! I also really like the portrait reverse, with the Paste 'em gut=y painting Ajerx.
Out of 10 sets, I got 5 sets of portraits, 2 sets of Wonkys and two different extras, and one set of coupons (got the last card on the 10th set), with 15 different extras.
Eggs-Lax is my favorite.

I see a pending Valentines theme for the February set. Dare we hope to get them before Easter? Possibly St. Patrick's Day? Ah well, I shall buy them and enjoy them as I usually do. The concept people and artists do such a great job every month, I can't deny myself the enjoyment of their work. :D

Thanks! The concept writers, as well as the artists (I'm sure), always try to add several
holiday themed concepts each month, and hopefully many of them made the "final cut,"
we'll see tomorrow when it's released.
Let's show the people at Fanatics that Wackys are still going strong, buy an extra set or two this month,
get those sales totals up from last month!

For example, the Valentine's Day themed Wackies should have been done in the January set, since we would receive them in February, closer to Valentine's Day. Otherwise the holiday-themed Wackies are always one month stale and out of date, a month after the holiday has passed and is long out of mind.

I'm glad you liked the gag! I've actually done a second master lock parody that is still floating around waiting to be picked up. I was trying to find something that would connect with school kids like the classic composition notebook Wacky did when I was young.

I couldn't figure out Darn Old bread in the February set, as it uses the banner logo of Oroweat bread, but the gag name doesn't line up.
So I asked Zen what was his inspiration for the parody concept - and it's Arnold bread.
I've never heard of that brand, so I had to dig deeper, and now I know why.
Turns out this bread goes by three different names across the country.
Arnold in the East, Oroweat in the West, and Brownberry in the midwest.
Hope that helps anyone else that may be confused by this one like I was.

I can only speak for myself. For most of 2021, I was purchasing 6 packs. I increased to 10 packs for the last few months of the year because of they way the playing cards were be distributed and I was putting 4 sets of them together. Once 2022 started, I went back down to 6 packs.

I have been doing 10 packs since October of 2021, before that it was only 3 packs and was trading and buying the rest. Since I noticed the drop in volume I kept it at 10 packs so I can make my set. I still want to trade, as that is really a lot of the fun, but I really do not want to buy them off of ebay as I feel the prices are just a tad high there.

that's the pattern I've seen.
There have typically been 3 guest artists for a 3 month stretch, and they're the ones that draw up all the sketch cards for that quarter

I had ordered 7 sets this time. I had one coupon grouping that was 5,10,15,20 in a pack, but the rest were seemingly jumbled. I did end up with an extra 1,6,11,16 set but these were not together in any of the packs. Now I wish I had written them down as I opened them. My logical brain wants to suggest there was some kind of pattern since I basically ended up with extras that comprised 2 of the "traditional" groupings. From somewhat shaky memory, I seem to remember getting several consecutively numbered coupons. For example 5,6,15,16 in one pack. I guess that would be parts of two of the traditional groupings.
I work at a place where they have to "hand-pack" certain music CD and bluray disc sets where multiple inserts are required, etc. People manually need to place these items in the jewel cases before they are shrink wrapped, whereas simple releases, such as those containing one or two discs and one insert, can be automated. I would love to see how Topps does their packaging of these sets. Could be simply that someone looses count, puts too many or too few in one pack, then the sequence gets messed up for the remaining packs that person is doing. They would in essence, inadvertently, be creating new groupings. I think a peek behind their process might help explain some of the anomalies we encounter. It would also be interesting to see if there are any quality control processes on the packaging side and what they are. I am sure they monitor the quality of the cards themselves, but is there any step to check, even a manual random check, of any of the prepared packs.

I had one pack with no Wonky, then a later one with two Wonkys. It balanced in the end, but could have easily ended either +1 or -1 with them

I absolutely enjoy the holiday stuff! It is fun to celebrate in our own Wacky way. The beauty of these online sets is that it allows us to do seasonal items like that which just wouldn't work in retail sets. My vote is definitely to keep them!

That would certainly eliminate the mismatch holiday timing issue, e.g., receiving Valentine's Day themed Wackies in the middle of March.

Hello and welcome Jacky!
I'm pretty sure the ones stated as stickers are full card stickers. They don't have the outline cutting or kiss cutting anymore. But some have also been made as cards and should be noted, such as the Bio cards from the postcard series. Enjoy the forum, LOTS of great people here.

Actually, Plop on Pop was originally going to be in the 1991 Series also; it was removed because Topps figured there were too many of that type of parody in that series (I know, I know, stupid, right?).

According to the May 2022 wrapper: We are getting another McDonald's food spoof, this time spoofing Filet 'O Fish. But will Wacky Packages Monthly ever do spoofs on these little known fast food chains:
Culver's (I'd call it for a Wacky Packages take "Cleaver's")
Raising Canes (I'd call it for a Wacky Packages take "Raising Caves")
Sonic (The modern day drive-in/carhop restaurant chain, not the video game hedgehog - I'd call it for a Wacky Packages take "Sosic")
...I could also think a Wacky Packages take on Burger King's Chicken Fries calling it "Chimpanzee Fries". And though not fast food chains, will Wacky Packages monthly ever do spoofs on products from phramacy store chains CVS and/or Walgreens?
And it is doubtful that May 2022 Wacky Packages would feature when it starts pre orders 3 days after Mother's Day anything related to Mother's Day, and since we got passed May the 4th., no Star Wars Wacky Packages takes are allowed whatsoever!

Well, I did an Oxi/Octo-Clean gag not too long ago, with tentacles everywhere, and there was also a Triscuit/Squid gag and even a Sour Patch Kids/Squids parody recently. Maybe its one of those you're thinking about?

I HOPE folks would be curious! We certainly put a lot of effort into coming up with creative ideas and great artwork. It always mystifies me why there isn't more discussion about the individual gags and their execution on the forum. Which ones do you all like? Which were duds? Feedback would help guide what you see in the future!

Is this the same artist who worked on the Boboli pizza parody in the April set? I'm not expecting every artist to generate a Norman Sanders quality piece, but I hate the lack of attention to little details like the correct fonts! Boboli has a unique font for their logo, and the artist just lazily typed out the parody title in a Stencil font! So it looks like the same laziness here, with the lack of attention to little details!

Topps sent an email today to all the folks that bought some of the recent GPK Hate the 90's expansion packs. They should of been shipped out in mid-late May. Email listed out a staggered set of release dates through June, with basically everything a full month behind schedule.
Likely the May Wackys are caught up in these delays too. We just haven't gotten an email though.

I just think it's too complicated and detailed of a thing to spoof. I prefer consumer products. I personally would love to see Topps create specific focused sets just about record album and CD covers, Blu-Ray covers, book covers, posters, logos...I could go on with the potential!

I suggest for the rest of the 2022 year and may 2023 for the monthly Wacky sets:
* Making the portraits, Wacky Pack comics, and wonkys 3 each for the set instead of 4.
OR...
* Have the Wonkys alternate with the Wacky comics and/or portraits each month. (One gets the month off)
Speaking of the Wacky Pack comics in the style of Bazooka Joe: 1) Will there be Wacky Pack comics with 1985 and 1991 and most since 2004 ANS Wacky Packages entries? 2) If you wanted Wacky comics, why not Sunday comic strip takeoffs Wacky Package style of popular newspaper comic strips (Peanuts, Garfield, Dennis the Menace, Doonesbury, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Hagar the Horrible, Dilbert, Family Circus, Zits, Pearls Before Swine, Dick Tracy, Baby Blues, Big Nate, Gasoline Alley, Mutts, B.C., Wizard of Id, Snuffy Smith, Hi and Lois) for a future subset? Topps is the only place I purchase items from charging at time of purchase rather than at the time of shipping which I find to be quite puzzling especially, as you said, when items typically ship a month or more after purchase.
The day pre-orders opened for the Xbox Series X back in 2020, MS took your info but did not charge the $500+ until it shipped in November.

Just curious, for those that received the May 2022 packs, did you find your coupon backs were in the (sometimes) usual groupings, for example, 1-5-10-15, 2-6-11-16, etc? Mine mostly seemed random this time but it appears from others' trade lists, the groupings were common.

May be best to just get them on the phone and explain the situation, and ask what they propose to do about it. They can check the order and tracking info on their system while you're on the phone with them.

Just received my April Monthly Wacky Set. Things seem to be getting worse at Topps. Here is the email I sent Topps just now:
Hi,
I just received my order of April Monthly Wacky Packages. The order is missing 7 Cards. It contained 21 cards: A 20 card base set and a checklist card.
The order was supposed to contain 28 cards. The cards not included are listed below:
• 4 Coupons
• 2 Portraits
• 1 Wonky
I paid $65 for this set and was shorted the cards that have resale value. The Wonky's go for $29.99. Either refund my full purchase price or send me the
missing cards please. Also, I waited two months for this set while others got their in a timely manner. Please fix this ASAP.

Reminder to Topps: The September monthy set, not the October monthly set that comes out by Thanksgiving if we're lucky, should be the Halloween-themed set.
They should sell the October set in September. Years from now, you would want the Halloween-themed gags to be in the October set. However, calling it October, selling it in October, and delivering it in late November kills the concept in the present year.

Speaking of the sketches, I almost missed it as it was stuck in the middle of the base set. Normally I just grab the base set from the first box I open and then only the extras thereafter. So I went back and looked through my March sets and, sure enough, there was a sketch I missed!

The difference is probably due to fact that I save them out as "thumbnails for forums" in postimage. I'll see about using a larger format in the future.

Still waiting on my April Set Chase cards. Topps sent my set after 10 weeks but it was only a base set, not even a checklist card. I complained again and immediately got confirmation of a replacement set being sent; except nothing has been sent. Now they are "looking into" that. Nice.

Still waiting on my replacement set from the APRIL set. Totally unacceptable. Not buying Wackies anymore and letting the Wacky Community know Topps can not
deliver what is promised. I spent $65 on this set back in April. You took 3 months to send the cards and then shorted me ALL The CHASE Cards. Now you can't
seem to send the replacement for the replacement set. Not okay.

I’ll guess that they used it all up with the GPK Bookworms release last month, which was a massive release, and are waiting for restock.
The crazy bit is that to get Bookworms out, they ended up using two different sticker stocks, regular and thin, and full sets of each side by side are radically different heights.

I know I’ve commented in the past on the ridiculosity of the shipping delays, but are there also production-related issues that delay shipments from going out in the first place, like not actually printing up the cards or having the artists do their sketch cards until the final sales figures are in? That would at least be more understandable, like a Kickstarter business model.

I guess there would be no G-rated way to depict minds being blown, and to your point, that gray matter is already conveniently packaged for single-serving consumption.
There have been past conversation threads on the notion of some specific Wackys having a frightening or traumatizing effect on our young minds back in the day, and I weighed in on several, remembering very well of having had that feeling myself. Thankfully I missed Hostile Thinkies until it was reissued in 1979 when I could better handle it. If I had seen those brains in the 1974 release I think it might have scared me more than the others I mentioned.

Update: Guess a tentative agreement to avert the railroad strike happened the day before September 16, 2022. Now if we can get July and/or August 2022 Wacky shipment notices this weekend.

July cards arrived today proving Fed-Ex CAN do overnight delivery. This is the best collation I have had in ages. Bought 7 boxes and pulled one complete set, with extras of course.

I received that Delayed to Monday message both last week and this week.
But then two hours later it was out on a truck for delivery.
No new message telling me that though, until it was dropped off at the front door.

There WON'T be a Halloween Postcard set this year. There were just too many other pots on the stove to allow time for it. A consolation prize, however, might be the bumper crop of Halloween themed Wackys in the regular October set! Keep your eyes peeled for tomorrow's release!

Off-topic for a minute, I know I said this somewhere else before, but I don't know (and can't find) where or when I did it, so I'll say it here and risk repeating myself. I've got a great idea for the next Wacky Halloween Postcards series that can be done with little to no effort whatsoever and probably both still sell well and make a profit.
Remember the 2020 series, when three Halloween Wackys from 2009 that were originally released on a black background postcard - namely Ghostess Fright Pie - A-A-Apple, Brick's Man Made Brick & Mortar Caramels and Bots - were finally released as regular white background with black border postcards (albeit with glow-in-the-dark additions)? Well, here's my idea - release the rest of the Halloween Wackys that were released on black background postcards as regular white background with black border postcards also (minus the glow-in-the-dark parts, of course)! These would be:
*Starbeast,
*Tootsie Troll,
*Hairi-Boo Ghost-Bears,
*Cracker Drac,
*Strike,
*Slayday.
These six are definitely enough to make a new series. Killing Sppprreee and Hellraiserettes wouldn't need to even be in this release, because they've already been done in 2013, the second one as an extra postcard and the first one as a bonus card. Artist cards wouldn't have to be done for almost all of them, either (the one exception being Hairi-Boo Ghost Bears, which wasn't done in 2011 (I think)), because they've already been done. It could basically be a simple, plain old ordinary set...no chase cards, nothing fancy or frilly, something like that (although maybe one or two (but no more than that) bonus cards with all-new Halloween parodies could be added into the mix just like before).
I just figured I'd throw this idea in the water and see if it floats. Thoughts, anyone?

OK, I just took the first step and called Topps, and apparently no one else had yet reported the issue. I strongly encourage all of you to each individually call Topps customer service at 800-489-9149 and report the sketch card issue, so that they know for certain that this isn't just one or two people. For all of our collective good, it will be worth the time you have to be on hold before you reach the live person. The guy I spoke with was very friendly and said he would look into it (but he did not take my number and say he would get back to me). Call now!!

Just got my order and opened 12 boxes (enough to complete a coupon and Wonkys set) and stopped opening. Of course no sketch cards. Called Topps again and they said they were investigating. This time they took my email address and said it would be a couple of days.

As per the product description, sketch cards are randomly inserted. Obviously, the more you purchased, the better chances you have of receiving sketch card(s) but nothing is guaranteed. I think by saying " the more you purchased, the better chances you have of receiving sketch card(s) but nothing is guaranteed", they at least made an attempt. They probably kept it deliberately vague beyond that. So if you bought 20 you have a (hopefully much) better chance than if you bought one.
Oh well, we can resume communicating with them on Monday if we think that will be helpful!

I agree. I up my normal monthly order from 6 packs to 10 when it’s time for sketches. I know that doesn’t guarantee I will get one, but it almost feels like we were baited in an attempt to sell more product. This is not a trivial grievance but borders on fraud. And when there is not a quick and clear resolution communicated to paying customers when an error has been discovered, it’s just incompetence.

The NYCC set had an absurd shipping estimate of “Ships in 28-35 business days after clock expires” vs the other sets which had “ Ships in 14-21 business days after clock expires”
So who knows, maybe by end of year? 🤪

I received 2 sketches today and thought I'd share them since they're exceptional, I think. The one on the left was done by Neil Camera; the one on the right was done by Floydman. Floydman did a great job on the shading, while Camera's detail is awesome. These "sketches" really are one-of-a-kind works of art, and not just sketches. You can tell these artists have been spending more time on these than what it usually takes to just sketch. And before y'all start PM'ing me about how much I want for them, I think I'm keeping these.

Pete I believe the two you referenced are by guest artist Shane Garvey. I think those two are wild, not traditional but beautifully rendered with complex but compelling designs. I imagine they may not be for everyone but I am a fan!
