Two topics which always seem to cause disagreement and argument are religion and politics. Apparently now Wacky Packages should be added to that list.

I see your point but I will never stop hoping for the day that a person will put back the link of a person that they formerly perceived as their enemy. I say "perceived as their enemy" because in truth we have no enemies.

This is the non-commercial version:

Do you have a point somewhere here?  It seems most people were willing to let all websites be linked as they were.  The tweaking of the websites was only to meet the wiki robot removal standards.  I would guess the wiki robot and monitoring only came about due to all of the activity greg created by constantly selfishly pushing his point.  Go lobby with Wiki on whether greg's website meets their standards.  It doesn't change the fact that he is acting like a selfish brat(again) and even if we all have perfect sites, there is no reason to believe he is suddenly going to stop acting like a spoiled baby so these website cleanups are being done somewhat in vain thanks to greg.

actually, the wiki robot was only triggered by the addition of the smugmug. that site is clearly just a hosting site and can't be relevant to anything on wiki, except maybe a page discussing such things, so some admin is on the lookout for it.
the bot just does an "undo" of the last set of updates, which this time happened to include a number of other sites which haven't triggered the bot before or since.

Good point.  So this means the main reason collector websites are not on wiki is because greg is behaving like a selfish baby(again).

Ron posted on Greg's forum today asking what happened to all of the "for sale" links on the site.  Here is Greg's response:

Those links were never on the main wackypackages.org page to begin with, but I will put them there.  I removed them from wackypacks.com today though.  Actually I want to switch those URLs so wackypacks.com points to the stores, mall and ebay, while wackypackages.org is strictly informational.  Just a little reorganization.  You don't miss a beat though!

I think Greg was referring to the links to ebay in the above statement. I'm pretty sure the webstore component of his site has always been on wackypackages.org.

Greg will no longer post any information on any new Topps release (ANS, OLDS, Postcards, erasers, whatever) due to not being able to cash in on OLDS.

Which obviously shows his main interest and motivation. As opposed to being a Fan site first with great information first, product second. It is ashame because the site does have lots of well documented information on lot of pre-Olds stuff.

There is no new info. there on Olds or ANS 7 and probably won't be unless he can settle whatever he has going on with Topps - IF they even want to bother at this point. I don't remember the whole story of his interaction, but I do remember on his forum he was doing a lot of bad mouthing about them.

If they cut him in on the profits, he may play nice.  greg seems to constantly forget that Topps wasn't legally required to give him anything to claim their copyrighted website address.  They offered him art, an exclusive link(which I am sure has allowed him to profit plenty).

For some reason, greg has translated that into his having an elistist right for Topps to cut him into profits for the rest of his life.  greg has an apartment full of over supply.  He didn't accumulate all of that for the purpose of being a charity, his intent was to make money.  Watching him and his minions try to soften the blow by assessing the "fairness" of his profits or trying to declare his priorities are hobby first and profits 2nd only make themselves look like the minions they are when the facts constantly contradict their claims.

If greg's TRUE #1 priority was the hobby, his lack of profiting from new wackys wouldn't stand in the way of his wanting to add them to his website.  He wouldn't be bad mouthing topps on wiki.  He wouldn't be playing deceitful games with wiki links.  It is really just that simple.  All of the other smokescreens he puts forth to rationalize his behavior are just that, smokescreens.  He has been blowing smokescreens for years, only now, everyone has the ability to see through the smokescreens.

According to what he said, he is going to make wackypackages.org purely informational and wackypacks.com the site with all the "for sale" links.  That makes sense since a .com site should be a Commercial site and the .org site should be the informational or "fan site".  However, even now, if you go to wackypackages.org the very first link at the top of the page is "Buy Wacky Packs here".

A fan site with no info on current wackys....I don't understand his desire to slight the current artists.  What did they do to him?  Silly for me to ask, I am sure he can rationalize that pretty much everyone has done something to him at one time or another.  Just merely not bowing down to him would do it....

With friends like Greg Grant, Who needs enemies??!!
After a month of harmony where greg stopped taking my link down and stopped rewording wikipedia to serve his selfish motives, he or someone closely associated to him has decided to take my link down and have two links to greg's pages.  I took the higher road when greg decided to put his link above mine and just let him have his little win.  Latest rumor is gerrydoire is back posting on greg's forum and is the one responsible for the latest wikipedia edits.

I take solice in knowing the selfish and desctructive acts are always greg or someone who is a mindless greg follower. I commend the direction the regular posters on this forum have taken which is to enjoy the hobby and not take selfish destrucive steps like greg and the three or four stragglers who have cut off their noses despite their faces and have given their unwavering loyalty to greg.

Gerry doire, i believe he is from canada. Drifts in and out of the hobby.  My recollection is that he generally liked to start trouble so i see nothing has changed.

Try to go to the Wacky Packages Wiki page today and you'll be bumped to Wiki's "black-out" screen. Wikipedia is participating in the internet protest of the SOPA and PIPA bills. Many feel these bills would prevent us from accessing information on the Internet the way we do now due to censorship.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wacky_Packages

Google also blacked out their logo today. You can click on either site's links to find out more info.
