check out these sweet vintage stickers from the 80's on this lunchbox!
no need for a bidding war on this, as there's 2nd lunchbox available as well

Not a "nuts" auction, but someone is finally offering up the oh-so-elusive domino die-cut set:

eBay auction: #162458471536

He has a JM 21 like this, too...it almost makes me want to cry.   :'(

Is that what you call an unpunched, punched Die Cut set? Gotta wonder what the story is behind that desecration.

FINALLY!! All of the letters I sent to Topps over the last 30 years, requesting that they produce a set that I can keep on my key ring and clip to my belt loop, have paid off! :P

Scot, I bet someone in 1967 was testing out their new 3-hole punch.  Although the original hole punch was patented in 1886, I believe a number of new models were released in the mid-sixties.

Exactly what I was thinking. Seems like we had a single hole punch at home back in the "60s.  I envision something like... Danny's cards get two punches and mine get one.

My bet is this was someone thinking it's the best way to place them in a binder. "Ah, ta hell with the plastic page thingy. Just a punch-punch here and a punch-punch there...and right into my 2-ring it goes".

This individual spent nearly $1000 in grading fees to get 3 PSA 8s worth maybe $125...nearly every other card is worth no more than it would have been raw. They even graded a borderless Ultra Blight!

Yikes!!  What a waste of money, time, and plastic holders.

Didn't realize PSA would grade a borderless sticker - surprised it even got a 1.

WOW! I've never seen a graded borderless before.... definitely a sign of the apocalypse! I guess, for the niche collectors, a complete set of slabbed borderless Wackys would be an accomplishment, as well as a conversation piece!

Does make you wonder what influences some people.  At least he isn't really overcharging for the auction.  I figure he is wanting 3 bucks a card which equals 400 and the (3)8's  he is getting his 100 dollar premium.  At least he didn't want his grading fees back.  :great:

Easy to accomplish if you just peel off the borders of stickers you have  :P

I think I might buy this and try to resell it.  I could certainly list it as ultra rare and one of a kind...the only graded borderless Wacky in history.  Or maybe the highest graded one as well!!
Still looking for Series 17

Here's one for giggles...

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ULTRA-RARE-VINTAGE-WACKY-PACKAGES-COMPLETE-SET-5th-SERIES-/122260880703?hash=item1c7750fd3f:g:zAQAAOSwx2dYHU~b

Maybe it's just me, but a "complete" set should include the whole puzzle... not just one puzzle/checklist card. On the bright side, the $1,510.00 price tag (includes the $15.00 S&H fee) makes it so that you're only spending a little over $47. per sticker (and card)... every toned, round-edged "NM" sticker!

Maybe if you would "Please use the zoom feature to view this fine set", as the seller recommends, you would find a deeper appreciation for this more than reasonably priced NM Rare find.  >(

Even comes with a borderless Cram! They removed the border to take the headache out of the extremely difficult task of trying to identifying the die-cut variation. Far more presentable this way too!

True! An added side note... not many collectors are aware of the fact that the borderless "Cram Maggie" shown in the photo is actually the prototype border for the 50th Anniversary set. After half a century of rigorous testing and development, the new streamlined borders were unveiled!

I pointed this auction out back in December. Shocked it still hasn't sold.   :o   :P

You just have to lower your price a bit on this set, Bigtomi (even though it does have the "thin border" prototype.)

You might wanna jump on this one while the lower price is in effect! I'm guessing that the high price tag is justified by the fact that this particular sticker was found in one of the smoke stacks depicted in the illustration... complete with Virginia Slums soot!

This one has been pointed out before, as well, though not by me. About a year and a half ago, Jay commented on it:

I was in the room with Art Spiegelman when he wrote the Virginia Slums gag.  We were working all week to get that series written and roughed out, and Art was working on his book MAUS at the same time.  That ebay Virginia Slums card in the ebay auction above has a little scrawl on the upper right that looks very much like what ultimately became Art's MAUS character (but without the eyes and nose) .   Who knows?  It's in bad condition, yeah.... But it could be an important piece of history.  He was still working on the book when that series came out.
