Makes me think back to that magical day 6 years ago when I picked up three 16th series packs at the Allentown show for $20 apiece. They were probably already worth $150-200 at the time!
When I first re-entered the hobby and attended a few NJ & Philly shows in 1997-98 (they were still held at hotel expo rooms at the time), there was a seller with 14th, 15th and 16th packs for sale, and he had considerable inventory of each.  He charged $5 a pack for 14th and 15th, but only $4 a pack for 16th!!!  Reason he gave was that some of the 16th packs were "miswraps" as he put it, in that they were missing the puzzle piece card.  But if I remember correctly, some of the packs missing the puzzle piece had an extra sticker!  I was focused on the 15th, a sentimental series for me, and only bought a few 16ths, having no clue they were harder to find and would eventually skyrocket in value.

Better get it before it's gone!!!

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1970s-Wacky-Packages-Sticker-Trading-Card-Betty-Crooked-Crocker-Sludge-Brick-Mix-/151914168948?hash=item235eca4274:g:kCIAAOSwf-VWbLDZ
I'm sure this is just someone who found some surviving Wacky relic of their childhood, had no clue there's a whole universe of intact Wacky material out there, and listed this thinking they have something ultra-rare, as if from an archaeological dig.  That's the only explanation that makes sense.  I have a co-worker who found an old marble notebook full of stuck Reissues in his parents' house, and he too thought he was sitting on a small fortune, until I set him straight.

They're on sale for $7.99 now!

Here's another person who can't be convinced that PSA mislabeled their Wonder Bread Lavirus as a 1st series tan.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-TOPPS-WACKY-PACKS-1ST-SERIES-LAVIRUS-MOUTHWASH-TAN-POP-3-PSA-7-N1986142-149-/262035927750?hash=item3d028ef2c6:g:uqkAAOSwcdBWSsRK

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1973-TOPPS-WACKY-PACKS-1ST-SERIES-LAVIRUS-MOUTHWASH-TAN-POP-2-PSA-6-N1986144-147-/361382195246?hash=item54240eb02e:g:jAEAAOSwLzdWSsMj

What's really funny, is that they wrote back with information from this page: http://www.wackypacks.com/stickers/wonderbread/index.html

Quote
The first release had 24 titles, all from original series 1-3.
These are easily distinguishable from the originals by the fact that they have different copyrights. Wonderbread stickers all say "Topps Chewing Gum Inc" spelled out, while original 1-3 series stickers have copyright "T.C.G.".

So I wrote back and told them to read the next bullet point, and it explained how Lavirus was in the 2nd release with the same copyright, but the die was cut different.  The auctions are still up as 1st series tans.

Maybe they used Satan Wrap?

Or do you think these are vacuum mounted on acid free foam core boards . . .

this one is just slightly painful to look at.

uncut reprint sheet in a frame.  eBay auction: #201501351079
Well, uncut except for the top row which couldn't fit - so it was trimmed off and taped to the back of the frame.

How frickin dumb must one be to do this? "We don't have a frame to fit that Mona dame in. Chop off her head and paste it on the back."   >(  :-\

At least it's a reissue sheet and not an OS one...

I was in the room with Art Spiegelman when he wrote the Virginia Slums gag.  We were working all week to get that series written and roughed out, and Art was working on his book MAUS at the same time.  That ebay Virginia Slums card in the ebay auction above has a little scrawl on the upper right that looks very much like what ultimately became Art's MAUS character (but without the eyes and nose) .   Who knows?  It's in bad condition, yeah.... But it could be an important piece of history.  He was still working on the book when that series came out.

$900 for 24/44 Die Cuts with none of the rare ones

http://www.ebay.com/itm/Topps-1967-Wacky-Packages-Original-Die-Cut-Partial-Set-24-44-Cards-Jolly-Mean-/131709402422?

Plus $30 to ship.  I think if you're willing to shell out $900, it should ship for free!

He's got another listing of 8 with nothing rare for $250 and the same $30 to ship.  You'd think since this is 1/3 of the 24, he could ship for $10!

I honestly can't tell if Jay is kidding. I looked at the VS auction and it looks like someone (probably a girl) took pencil, outlined the border then doodled a heart with scribble under the heart. No?

What the heck is this?  There are a few of them:

It's a relatively crappy Foney Ad card...which this clueless seller thinks is quite valuable.

That's about a $1.50 card, on a good day. I like the FONEY ADS set because of its significance in being a precursor to WACKY PACKAGES, albeit a rough hint of things to come.  These cards are notorious for being off center with color alignment issues. I have never looked for these on eBay since I completed a set about 25 years ago. I can't believe all the PSA graded cards for mostly ridiculous prices on there. Plus, like quas mentioned, the ones with the certificates of authenticity are meaningless. I see one or two near complete sets for about $70... that seems like a reasonable price for this set. I used to but lots of 25 to 40 cards for $10 dollars to piece together a fairly nice set of 72 cards. I used to have 4 or 5 dupes of each title, mostly really off center or with bleeding print. I can guarantee quality control was not on Leaf's mind when these cards were produced. I even had extras that were not cut to the same size as others. I am also highly dubious of the lots where two cards of the same title are being sold as color variations. I think this was attributable to fading and poor original printing.

Weren't there a handful of back variations on these, or am I confusing them with Fleer's Crazy Labels?
That was Crazy Labels. 8 variations.

I guess using scissors to slice the sheet into pieces doesn't count as 'cutting'
