This constantly cracks me up. It's like someone driving off a cliff and a line of cars following behind.

We forum members should do an experiment and put up for aution a "vintage - rare" plastic turd. Then each of us keep bidding it up and see if any outsiders bid in on it. Once an outsider bids, then sell that turd to the outsider who must of thought it was worth something!  :great:
someone beat us to it... http://www.ebay.com/itm/5-Fake-Dog-Turd-Realistic-Poop-Plastic-Gag-Gift-Prank-/320813424162?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item4ab1f85e22

Which is exactly why he should have sniped it at the same bid. That way, the other bidder wouldn't have had anything to keep bidding up, and would have put in probably a considerably lower bid. I'm always surprised how many people on ebay just have no clue as to value and figure "If someone else bid this much, it must be worth it, so I will too."
Didn't Todd Riley win this?  He knows better than to get suckered with an early high bid.  This is very strange!

Did someone just pay over $200 for a 16th series Horsey in average condition?  I think I found who is nuts.  Who is more nuts, the winner or the one trying to overtake him at well over the price of the card?

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

My bad!  I failed to notice that it was RARE.

Isn't that a $40-$60 card these days based on condition?

We know one of these bidders is nuts, but the other dropped a screw now also.

I'll bet they are both trying to complete sets, and need that specific card.

Gold #29 sold for the same amount and I needed it but I didn't even bother bidding when I saw what was going on.  When I first saw it it was already at $157.00 which is more than I would pay.  There are obviously some collectors out there trying to complete a set!

Wouldn't Shirley Jones, David Cassidy or that funky bus be the Holy Grail of Partridge Family collectibles?

I'm going to yield on this one so someone else can jump on it.  What are the odds of this happening?  haha................

Or this is the sticker image bleeding through so you can see it from the back.  I have seen these before but the image showing through the back was much lighter.  It is almost as if the tan backing is much thinner paper.

I was being sarcastic on that one.  It looks to me like the sticker backing is completely missing so you can see right through it.

Is this nuts? It looks nuts.

Maybe a wittle bit nuts. 2nd series material is harder to come by, though, so that could explain it to some degree...

When you say harder to come by do you mean unopened material specifically? I thought that the 4th series was harder because the sets always seem to cost more than the other 3.

Yes, the second series of rissue unopened stuff is by far the hardest to come by.  I would say that it is worth 4x what series 1 and 3 stuff goes for, and maybe double what series 4 goes for.  Again, all unopened material, packs and full boxes.  This auction is not al that surprising to me.  I can't remember the last time I saw a full series 2 box up for sale.
Still looking for Series 17

The price doubled since I first posted, $660.99 :o I used to think that only the original series stuff would go for prices like this. So the person that bought this would be a collector of unopened boxes? I guess there would be no point paying that much to build sets or sell packs.

Now, if I would have sold it I would have gotten $199...HaHa

I love it when people are intellectually dishonest in their item descriptions. The 16th series box (along with wrappers) is the most common original series box. Yet people always try to link the rarity of the stickers to the rarity of the box. It's worth $75-100 max.

Hey presto! A nearly miscut wonderbread sticker becomes a NM/MT 1st series "rare" tanback with "very good centering!"
