Isn't the rule of thumb to put buy it nows on the high side for the purpose of soliciting offers to screw ebay out of fees?  I do this all the time.....

that must expain this,,i like the BIN of $1200 by use of a gift payment  :o

Another award winning description.

That the white backs are so brown the seller makes a point of telling us they aren't tanbacks contrasts with the fact the seller had the sheet professionally cut so the corners are very sharp(PSA 8 or higher)-like corners. Good thing they have nice corners. Just don't turn them over and notice the white backs are brown. I'm not sure this set will satisfy any so called "completist" the seller is referring to.

Offered here is a very rare 1975 wacky packages complete series 13 WHITEBACK set.  There are only a few complete sets known to exist in the hobby.  Single cards from this set have sold for close to $200 each in past years.  This set was created from an uncut sheet I have had in my collection for years.  I had it professionally cut so the corners are very sharp(PSA 8 or higher)-like corners.  Unfortunately the uncut sheet wasn't well cared for by the owner before me so the back had faded/stained and had creases which are reflected in the scans provided here.  I 100% guarantee these are series 13 whitebacks and are of the hard whiteback stock even though many look beige.  Tanbacks are much flimsier stock and any wacky pack collector would know this.

This is the perfect set for the completist who wants all variations within the wacky packages run as you many never have the opportunity to get this set.  This can fill that need without having to spend the nearly $6000 that a higher grade set would command.

A seller can ask whatever they want as a strategy, but someone buying a Cracked will most likely do their research and realize how out of whack the price is, so it just makes them look a little foolish as a seller.

Not a nutty seller, but amusing nonetheless:

It's a crease free gem! Why, certainly, you wouldn't want that border in the way to get all creased up, now, right?

I saw those to.  Sometimes you get random sellers that aren't aware that the borders are missing.  Maybe that's the case here.

Yup, sports cards generally have their border. You would think these guys would at least do some research before selling. I do when I have to sell something that I don't know the value.

True, you were honest Ernie. I was just in a crappy mood and wanted to be a dick. I wondered at the last minute when I clicked "post" if you were the seller.

I don't follow eBay anymore because Paypal cut me off back in 2002, when my days of bidding on auctions came to an end. I wonder how many people got cut off by Paypal because they spent too much cash with them. I believe a whimpy 2K was their cut-off a decade ago (when they cut me off, they did not allow me to spend more money until some type of new agreement was made). I wish I still had the e-mail from Paypal telling me I has exceeded their $2K spending "limit" and could no longer use them without a new contract. I've worked in Customer Service, and telling a good paying customer they can't spend cash was a very strange experience.

Ronnie Rocker's customer service beats the CRAP out of Paypal and eBay's customer service! IME (and yes, that's sad)

Ya know, this seems like ridiculous behavior on Paypal's part, especially in light of their new "Pay Later" plan. I am getting really tired of being barraged by their "commercials" each time I log into eBay or Paypal. Talk about setting some one up for a fall later.

No problem dude.  I have spent years ripping off ebay and paypal of fees with gift transactions on paypal and private deals on ebay.  If you see an item that I had listed on ebay and it didn't sell but didn't get relisted, you can be pretty sure I sold it privately cutting ebay out of the deal.

He never mentioned award winning. He is saying that the set is totally over valued by your price. Sure the white set is tough, these are not a good example of a white set because they aren't clean white backs. It is actually horrible. There are so stained, taped, and bent. They it can't really appeal to a collector. Its just the facts. That is my opinion and not to be taken as fact by any other collectors.

Can you please stop breezing over series of posts before you make a comment?  Jean Nutty called it award winning.  I happened to be quoting someone else in my response but my question was obviously geared to all who were partaking in the discussion. You seem to be suggesting that nobody called the description "award winning" all while you made the extra effort to paraphrase the $300 post. Take the three milliseconds to go back and see that, Jean Nutty got it, somehow you missed it.

These are legit 13th whitebacks hence they are rare, poor condition maybe but this doesn't change the definition of what they are.  The fronts and corners are in great shape, many of the backs are not.  If a completist wants all sets possible, they can spend the $3000-$5000 if they are lucky enough to find any 13th white sets for sale or they can buy my set.  IF they own my set, they will in fact own a 13th white set and hence it will complete that need. Is that really so difficult for you to understand?  Seems it is since you didn't even read the posts leading up to this correctly.

So you would chose a 13th white set with serious issues to the front of the stickers hence impacting the image over a set that is nearly perfect when viewing the front like mine.  That is your perrogative.  I think there are people out there who would differ.

Brad's dismissal of the "award winning" comment was annoying but he often is in such a rush that he misses details.  I was not rubbed the wrong way in an angry sense, I merely presented the opposite point of view, sorry if my presenting the other point of view rubbed you the wrong way  :P

Why would I go back and read old posts? You quoted Clubbed so that is what I read. This thread has about 300+ posts. I'm sure the hell not going to go back and read each one to see if someone else referred to your comments when you are not even responding to that particular post.

You don't need to read 300 posts but you sure could read all of the new posts in a thread especially if you are about to post a comment that suggests I made a reference to something that was never posted.  Your choices are to continue to rationalize your hurried and careless approach as i see it has carried over into other threads where others have called you out or you can slow down, take a breath and try to be a tad more thorough.

That's a great price. It's hard to tell condition but at least a great starter set. The back of the one card is hard to tell if it's wrinkled and has some paper or something stuck to it.

Sorry, but I don't. Based on the auction title and description, it's obvious the seller never bothered to really figure out what they had and just put a random number on it. What they get is what they get; their fault. And, actually, the chances are they're thrilled they got $150 for a few little pieces of cardboard.

If they all have that issue with the backing, I don't think this is much of a steal at all.

As the description states...This is for real no joke.

I can't argue that it's real, but I think the joke part is debatable.

Looks like the seller welched and relisted the lot. I'd say the buyer let him off to easy as winning an ebay auction is a binding contract and this seller is listing an item that could go into litigation.  I would screw the seller if I were the buyer and spend the $15 to file small claims against him.

Apparently the seller realized the cards were were worth more although they're still misidentified as being from 1973 in the relisting. The buyer left negative feedback:

Man, that stinks!  I wonder if eBay offers any assistance since they claim it is a legally binding contract, or is that just something they state to try to keep this sort of thing from happening.
