....  slabbing swill and then treating them like rare gems just rubs me the wrong way.  Ebay is just polluted with it.
All that comes to my mind when I see these sorts of auctions is that the seller just doesn't have a clue as to what they're selling. They just don't bother to research anything.

you are so right...  when you look at alot of these auctions, it's sportcard peddlers.  But, you can bet your bottom dollar they know how to research sport cards !  At least this guy didn't call them RARE in all caps like many of them do. I have no problem with folks not knowing what they have, but where's the logic in asking 225.00 then.  I say, just start it at a little higher than the slabbing/posting costing and let the market dictate.  That's just me I guess....

Also, what do you guess goes through the mind of someone who sends cards to be slabbed before they even know what they are holding in their hands?  Wouldn't you want to do 5 minutes of research (which is all it would take nowadays online) first? Geez

These don't look legit to me (I don't see any Topps markings anywhere) -- thoughts? comments?

it's gotta be one of the least appealing Wacky item I've even seen, legit or not.  They are an eyesore (sorry for the pun).  I wouldn't take them for any price, they are not worth a penny to me...

I've been posting eBay pics like this as screen shots so when the thread gets old the pictures don't disappear from eBays files.  It's annoying going back several months later and reading posts where the links don't work anymore.

...and $6 shipping!  This is because of "free listing" periods by ebay.  No cost to the sellers to list total crap but ebay doesn't realize it hurts them as I am tired of sifting through the crap so I am sure I am missing some real stuff to bid on.

It's not just the items in terrible condition but all of the worthless singles you have to sort through, mainly base set singles.  I used to be able to skim through every item a "wack* pack*" search yielded in less than an hour.  I don't know how long it would take now but I would guess 2-3X that amount.

That's something I've mentioned before about auction links, and the screen shots like you've got here really do help.  And, Plan9's in the art thread are truly creating an archive that will be available for future reference.

Yeah, but with FREE SHIPPING it's a steal!  ;D

... the "more than 10 available" cracks me up. More than 10 stickers? Exact sets like the one shown? All in great shape (including creases).

I think and hope that some of these bizarre listings are people who honestly don't have a clue what their item is worth, and instead of doing the research they list it at a very high price thinking they can't go too wrong.

Between the online price guide and e-bay there should be no excuse for stupidity.
I think alot of these people are really nuts, but many also are just tryin' take advantage of newer collectors

No, I don't think the price is that unreasonable. A high grade 11th yellow pack is worth at least $100, and every one of these
is graded 8.5 or 9. I think the problem is more that very few people would want 19 of them.

This person's stuff always seems high (and often seems to be $500), but this one takes the cake imo.

I'd say more like $25? The pack doesn't seem to be in the greatest shape? Is it just because of the COA?

I have no idea why it would be that much. I had to reclick on your link to check if it was maybe Art, but no, just the pack and a card with COA. Ouch.

it's originally from toppsvault, so it's gotta be worth way more than $500. that's a bargain!!   ;)
yeah, the majority of the stuff sold by toppsvault won't get you diddly-squat on the open market, but they sure pulled in a lot of $$ for topps when they first sold.

Just mmmmaaaybe if the orginal buyer got a tour of the inside of the Topps Vault, (with free round trip & lunch included) then it's worth the 5 Benjamins ya know.

One thing I really hate ( which we can usually get a laugh out of ) is what i call ebay "spamers". They put something out there and have no idea what it is actually worth! Some people put things on ebay for way to little droping the value of that item, while others put things insainly HIGH!! I dont know about you but sometimes that realy anoys me.

Speaking of ebay tactics, I love when sellers add the word "wow" at the end of the description. Do they really think that when I read the word "wow" that I'll think I meant it?

I just saw the word "wow" twice in your post and knew it would be something fascinating and valuable.

It doesn't annoy me because you can either get a really good bargan (if your the buyer of a lowly listed item). On the other hand, you could try to sell something high if you wanted to because the buyer should really educate themselves 1st on the average price of the particular item they are seeking. I don't list high to try to take advantage of ignorance, but I can see why people at least give it a go. So neither of it annoys me.

One of my Math professors used to put down a result and write: "True Fact:" and then say....it's better than that other kind.
