"Wackim"...  now there's a flash from the past!!   :o

Why does that sound familiar?  Anyone want to shed light on that story?
I do remember, "foobar", very early in the eBay golden-age.  Is that guy still around?

Good luck identifying the center of that POS. As far as being graded, I am not sure people even know what PSA is when they list.

I think a lot of it is people using another listing as a template.

I agree, and sometimes ebay makes it difficult to change details.  But this one has PSA 7 in the details, and PSA 9 in the title, so the seller was even sloppy there!

This listing is hilarious.  There were definitely people out there on eBay & the wrapper who graded stuff like this all the time.  I've never been a purist when it comes to condition, and I can enjoy an EX+ just as well as a NM/MT.  But it's amazing how many times I'd get "NM" stickers that were literally borderless and/or creased down the middle, or with writing on the back, etc.  One guy wanted to sell me a book full of Wackys that had all been stuck to notebook paper for $300, and was insulted that I'd questing his grading of them when I arrived to see it. Ug.

I don't go on eBay much anymore, and I haven't actually bought anything on there for many years.  But I check now and then... and I just can't believe someone would pay this much for a PSA9 Hostess Wacky.  I know they're really rare, and PSA9 is awesome.  But $14K is a freaking car, or at least one-of-a-kind piece of original art or something...

https://www.ebay.com/itm/273786872318?hash=item3fbef821fe:g:9lAAAOSwai5eErHT

Is there some kind of 'limit' to what people will pay for a sticker of any rarity, just based on pure logic?  Or are there just so many people with disposable bitcoin fortunes or real estate equity that can throw that kind of cash around for this stuff?  I mean, $200 for one of these H-pairs back in the day was almost ludicrous.  I still have a hard time justifying that for a 1977 sticker or something.  Are these people nuts (like this thread implies), or have I gone nuts thinking this is nuts?

This auction is for a full set of 19 graded pairs. I'd still say $14K is high, though, eh?

It extends to sports cards too!  This one should be in the $40-80 range for an ungraded near mint card.

https://www.ebay.com/itm/363542414378

Either the seller is nuts to think someone would pay the $10K BIN for this, or he thinks there is someone out there nuts enough to pay it and not smart enough to find another one on eBay that is graded and much cheaper.  The blurry photo in the scratched up holder and the lack of any description are just bonuses.

As a past sports memorabilia shop owner, this is someone who found this in a drawer and because of the somewhat "famous" name condition matters very little. They should at least use lighting to increase visibility and a new top loader with a plastic sleeve. We all see items on eBay that are over the top over priced and sometimes they do sell.  But yes this card is $50 on a good day.

It is a tan, but its top/bottom centering is off.  You can see a tiny bit of the border on the card above it and the copyright is cut in half on the bottom.

The same seller has two more Tandaches with bigger issues with BIN prices of $389.99 and $899.99 and a black ludlow for $699.99.

Out of curiosity, what is the order in rarity of tan, black ludlow, red ludlow?

I believe it is just as you have it:  tan, black ludlow, red ludlow (the scarcest)

Is this a sure sign than an ebaydiot is lurking?

The second image shows that one user bidding 24 times on this item, increasing each one by $1, and also bidding more than 10 times on 12 of his/her 30 items over a 30-day period, with a high of 46!

Looks like he's gambling that the market will come up with a reasonable price.  Will be interesting to see where it ends up.

Yikes, I will be watching to see if anyone actually buys this.  Some sellers simply do ZERO research don't they?   https://www.ebay.com/itm/393761560998?hash=item5bae0499a6:g:qGUAAOSwDuFhojpr

Even if the price wasn't outrageous, $10.04 to ship one wax pack certainly is.

This is wacky, but not Wacky Packages related.

There is a seller on eBay selling an expired Spiderman No Way Home opening night movie ticket that he thinks will be worth something.

LMFAO! By the way...I saw the movie. It's fantastic!!!!!!!!

A few forum members know that I actually have had tan backs in my collection that I overlooked as series 1, but they turned out to be Wonder Bread.(Thanks Joe). Honesty is so important to me and so I came across this mislabeled Wonder Bread issue and "tried" to inform the seller that he might want to re-list with accurate information regarding the actual series. We went back and forth about 5 times. Seller seemed to be content with leaving it for the buyer to get a false tan back rather than being honest. I simply can't stand people like him, it's just wrong. Buyer beware.       https://www.ebay.com/itm/203764318635?mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11051.m43.l1123&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=9eef50c4b33c49bc9d9f81a7ea358711&bu=43209198147&osub=-1%7E1&crd=20211227050247&segname=11051&sojTags=ch%3Dch%2Cbu%3Dbu%2Cosub%3Dosub%2Ccrd%3Dcrd%2Csegname%3Dsegname%2Cchnl%3Dmkcid

I've done the same with other sellers, and it was always to no avail, so I've given up trying.  I collect beach volleyball memorabilia and have tried to help sellers with auctions by identifying autographs, pointing out that the autograph was a gold medal winner, etc.  I've never had one listen, so I've stopped wasting my typing.

The seller of the 1st series tan, I remember best discussing, pointed me to the paragraph on wackypackages.com about the copyright being different.  However, he was selling a Lavirus that is distinguishable by the die cut and in a paragraph farther down.  I asked him to read the entire page.  I even tried to imply logic as to why he would think a 1st series white or ludlow back and a 1st series tan back would have different die cuts when they were made from the same uncut sheet die but just with different sticker paper for a backing.  It didn't do any good.  He said he stood by his items and had never had a complaint.

I agree that price is a steal.  The 16th series plus puzzle is worth at least 75% of the total price.

Agreed that is a great price...if you have $2, 195. I have seen 16th series by itself listed for that amount. He seems to be pretty precise with his grading, does not necessarily mean he is accurate. I have always disliked the guy with money who instantly buys a better collection than I have, and I have been collecting for years...

I agree, top end in ex/5 i wouldn't pay more than 25-30 for the more desirable titles, and less for the more commons and the non favorites.

I didn't see any solid pics of the series 16's so maybe not as much as I thought.  But if they are close, they can go for about $50 or so a pop.  Plus the full puzzle has been selling for 400 buck give or take.  I would have definitely taken a chance if I would have seen it.
