I would like to have a set of posters…but that is way too rich for my blood.

Posters are getting harder to find, but I think the demand for them is also very low these days.

It's been a while since I purchased the tough 3, but I think maybe $200 each instead of $250?  The Cheapios has a tape stain, so maybe it's worth even less.
As far as the set of 24, I think maybe $600 (around $25/poster)?  Also 22 of them have two sets of staple holes at the top - so maybe they're worth less for that?
The yellow wrapper is hard to find - maybe it's worth $100.  I'm looking for the Gold Rush gum version and would probably pay that much - but I tend to be a bargain hunter.
IFIRC, Dan tends to run a little high on his prices.
I think Dan's strategy is like mine, set a high price, take offers, settle off ebay as most of the time buyers of wacky packs are pretty easy to hunt down outside of ebay.

Not super crazy, but cutting some of the titles out of one of the fabric swatches and selling as "rare patches". Such care taken in the cutting too.

That is pretty funny.  I wonder if they cut them out when they were a kid and using scissors was a skill they hadn't quite mastered yet.

I don't consider Dan nuts as a person, but his prices tend to be, IMO. Isn't this at least 2-3 times what it's worth, given the condition?

Also, no pics of the inside of the box.  Huge red flag there.

I've tried to explain this before but seems it takes awhile to be absorbed....I think he does what I would do which is list stuff for over market price, taking offers and selling privately.  In some cases, impatient 'must have now' folks take the buy it nows.  He also does this to draw attention to his auctions in general which results in sales of other items.  I believe Dan has done like $28k in sales in the last couple of months so he is not struggling but I know your post wasn't a worry about that....

Honestly, I had forgotten about this aspect of his sales technique. However, if I didn't know who he was and the other "behind the scenes" reasoning, the really high pricing would scare me off, thinking we're too far apart to deal. Just sayin.

That is good to know, less competition for buying.  I make offers no matter what, my feelings don't get hurt if they say no.

Agree the poster price is really high but I hope it sells as I have all three with mailing tubes that someday I will part with.  I don't think your assessment on the 12th box is accurate.  I would buy that box in that condition for your "$80" fair price all day every day.....boxes are much harder to find than people give credit and they are some of the coolest visible items to collect.  I would never ever ever spend more money on an overpriced fabricated rare plastic super impulse item than an original series display box as a point of reference....

Ern, not sure where you came up with "my (your) $80" price for the 12th box. Dan has it listed for almost $500, I guessed it to be 2-3 times too high. My math shows that to come to $170-$250...though even that range seems high to me, as well.

Oh I saw it listed for $250 my bad.  $500 is definitely excessive.

What bothers me is not the idiotic asking price, delusional morons like this are a dime a dozen, but the horrific excuse for a tape repair.  Looks like the taping on the butt end of a hockey stick.  This is arguably not even legal tender any more.  What a dope.

BTW, I’m told many major banks have plenty of $2’s in stock, crisp and there for the asking.  I’m sure it’s hit and miss, but I would suggest starting there if you want any $2’s.  I’d only go to eBay for an older red seal bill.  They were printed well before 1976.

He has another one listed in better shape, but still $148 overpriced.

I always thought $2 bills were cool. I don't know why they're considered unlucky by some. Maybe it's linked to their association with the racetrack.

For 1976 and beyond, the two's that demand the highest prices are star notes, according to my Whitman Official Red Book (7th ed. c2020).  The 2003 A Atlanta(F) note that is featured in this auction is listed at $5 for UNC-63 grade.   I can't imagine the one pictured getting a grade above ONE.  Like someone joked earlier, I wonder if it's even worth $2.  :]  A 2003 A Atlanta star note, however, is priced at $120 for UNC-63 grade.   We're talking only 320,000 in circulation.   The only other star notes from 2003 A, the San Fran(L) ones, are slightly more quantity-wise(384,400), but for some reason they are priced a little higher at $150 for UNC-63 grade.

The highest price listed for a non-star note 1976 and beyond, UNC-63, is $35 for a 2003 St Louis(H), and next best is $25 for 2003 A San Fran(L).

Non-star notes from 1976 range from $9-$20 in UNC-63.

Me two!   Maybe 'cause they're the closest legit thing to the queer three dollar bill.    8)

Two's that are in current circulation include the following series:

2003 A
2009
2013
2017 A

So I decided to go get some at the bank myself this week, and the teller had them on hand.  Not CU consecutive-numbered notes from a fresh stack like I was hoping, but minimal wear on most of them.  Exchanged a $20 for ten $2’s.  All 2013 except for one 1995.  The one surprise was that half of them were star notes.  So I’m thinking star notes must be common as dirt for 2013.  But why are there any in the first place?  Nobody uses the dang things.

I’ve also never seen premium value assigned to a note originating from a particular federal reserve branch location.  Signature combinations and sometimes low serial numbers or weird sequences yes, but never the A through L designation.

The local scrap yards here in the late 80's and early 90's used to pay out  in $2 bills for some reason. I was helping a contractor on a job and when he sold the scrap, he paid me all in $2 bills. I must have at least 50 somewhere, probably consecutive too.

Star notes are replacements for printing errors, not for bills worn from circulation. You can probably check online to see what kind of premium they carry, if any.

Fancy serial numbers are also fun. I once got $4 for a dollar bill beginning with four threes in a row, and values increase exponentially with each additional consecutive matching digit. Serial numbers that are eight-of-a-kind are highly in demand, and I've seen estimates of $15,000 for any bill numbered 00000001.

The different federal reserve banks sometimes have wildly different production numbers within a single series, which is why some are more worth than others.

Actually you lucked out because, as similar with 2003, the only star notes from 2013 come from Atlanta, San Fran, and New York.    Atlanta stars are listed at $45 in UNC63 condition, while NY and SF are both at $20.   If they're in nice, crisp condition, try 'em out on ebay and see what you can get!

I’ll have to get some more from the bank and see if the conditions are any better.  The ones I got are still close to new with no hard creases but definitely some signs of minor wear.  If only strict CU carries a premium, I’m probably not looking at any profit potential.  Truth be told my knowledge of currency is minimal in comparison to coins.
