ya i was shocked at how much some of your 1st cards went for,a few i was watchin' went for over $300 each
it seems some people will pay these amounts just to get that high grade from PSA when they would not likely yield more then about $10 each otherwise
My 1st set is very bright, clean, sharp, with nice over whiteness and well centered, and i dout i have over $300 into the whole set even with the big 4,,,took me about a year of hunting deals, but i'm proud of it for the money.

I wish those cards were mine at those prices, but I was just an auction watcher last night.

people are "nuts" when it comes to psa's,,i swear i get cards as nice as this for a few bux

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=380271661300&ssPageName=ADME:B:EOIBUAA:CA:1123

.........and look how yellowed that card looks!  That to me would downgrade it to EX+ at best.  If I had a series 1 that yellowed in my collection it would definitely be on my upgrade list, but PSA says it's MINT.  It doesn't make sense.  They obviously don't take discoloration into account as long as it's balanced throughout the card.

It should have an ST qualifier for stained!

If we could all guarantee results like this, I am sure that we would all pick out our best stickers for grading.  I really can not figure Ebayers out these days.  I listed a 1973 Series Two set in VG to EX condition a few months ago and it sold for a few dollars.  I listed another set a few weeks ago in similiar condition and it sold for about $80.00.  I am sure that we all have similiar stories to tell.  I have been planning to send in some stickers to PSA for years now and I keep putting it off.  I want to do it this year but I keep spending my money and buying more Original Series Wacky items.  With Old School Two right around the corner, I will probably put it off again.

Look at this one.  You've got to be kidding me.  "Very hard to find one like this in this shape"??  Nice gloss?  What gloss is he referring to, the plastic casing?.................

I'm amazed that it actually pulled an 8. I'm sure they look at the overall card but throw the ST qualifier in for good measure. Other than the staining it's a nice card. There wouldn't be any nice gloss because it's a cloth so not sure where he is going with that.

I should smear peanut butter on a high grade shedd's card and see what grade it gets.  ST for stinks?

At least now that it's slabbed, there's no worry of it falling apart, like all of my cloth stickers.

Yeah that is ridiculous that PSA would qualify that mess with an "ST".  I have a really nice Alcohol Seltzer die-cut that is PSA 7 with an "ST" qualifier.  The stain is a tiny little black dot about 1 mm in diameter on the back of the card.

Yah but I wondering if a Cloth like that could have deteriorated over several years after it was graded and slabbed, like in very hot or humid conditions?  I just can't see a grading service grading a card like that that high.  It doesn't seem possible.

They feel the browning falls under the "ST" qualifier, and the card is otherwise NM. Kind of useless, as if they graded it without the qualifier they would have to give it a very low grade. Qualifiers were an attempt to address specific defects that might bother some more than others (like centering). It's a way of giving the buyer information about the structure combined with info about a specific defect.

Having said that, it's inappropriate, because this browning is NOT a stain, anymore than a whiteback with a tanned border is. They don't qualify or downgrade for that tanning at all, to the chagrin of many.

This refers to the buyers of the comics I recently consigned for sale. I had bought 2 books at Electric City Comics in Schenectady, NY in Summer, 2001: Fantastic Four #68 and Tales of Suspense #89. I was ahead of my time in spending the entire '90's looking for the highest grade comics, when they were still available reasonably cheaply if you were willing to dig. I think I paid $140 for the pair.

Anyway, I had them graded by CGC and they both got grades of 9.8. The FF 68 sold for $2100, and the TOS 89 for $1540. Nuts, but I like it!! Bring on the wackys!!

Another one. Nice bend in the card:

One thing that really bugs me is someone that can't show enough respect to answer emails.  I understand sometimes people are busy, but most of the time they will respond when it something that helps them, but if not you get ignored.  Just hearing that makes me not want to buy anything from him, but I avoid his auctions anyway because his prices are so high.

Clammy must make PSA's corporate head explode. As the seller notes, SUPER TOUGH in high PSA grades. Of course, that's because when the sticker is properly centered, it appears to be miscut. So there are two ways Clammy can appear: off-center, or miscut. Therefore, PSA will never give it an unqualified grade of 8 or better. In fact, it looks like there is one 8, I'd love to see it!

$21.50? Seriously?
start digging out your grey border Play Doze
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rt=nc&nma=true&item=120633744298&si=B0fMKBDfaUUjcn4NRz95y6fQpBc%253D&viewitem=#ht_1638wt_907

I know a collector (not on the forum) who almost exclusively collected oddball error cards like this. He was interested in anything that was messed-up in production such as this card.  Apparently there are more collectors out there like this because it took more than one bidder to get a card like this up to $21.00!

LOL,,,welcome back
http://cgi.ebay.com/vintage-Wacky-Packages-sticker-Top-Slob-/110610309472?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c0e36160

They have some "really wonderful" stuff for sale, most of which seems to be "vintage".

I "really want" this item, which I was amazed is labeled "previously owned":
http://cgi.ebay.com/General-Electric-gold-coin-vintage-compactron-/110610309501?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c0e3617d

Saw another Grey border Play Doze go up (same seller I think). Wonder how many they have. Don't like it when they imply something is rare and have n more stashed in a bag without saying. Seems a tad deceptive imo.

Oh, and you could save up and buy this one instead. What a deal!

I know what you guys are saying. I did a search for wacky packages today and got 7000 hits. This is obscene. People selling so many individual cards that are worth about $.15 and trying to get $3 for each. I just don't get it. I can understand trying to get people to buy the cards they need to complete their sets but this is getting crazy. Even back around 2005 when Wacky's were going for some big cash there were only about 800 auctions total. It was really easy to stroll through and find the cards you needed. Now it's like everyone is dumping everything trying to make a buck.

That is steep! And to top it off, this line in the description

"Sticker is in Mint to Near Mint condition with some blunting on lower left corner."

makes me think we might need to redefine what Mint to Near Mint really is.

That's so true!  I remember not that many years ago that I go scroll through every page of Wacky auctions in about an hour.  Now it would take at least 5 times as long.  I don't get listing individual cheap cards because it's such a pain in the neck to take scans, list them, package & mail them, it doesn't seem to pay for a buck profit.

i noticed even since i started buyin' them a few years ago that there is WAY more singles and crap to go thru.
it kinda sux when guys are filling whole pages putting up every card in ANS or even OLDS as singles when ya can buy a whole set for near nothing,,i even hate listing my old EX+ singles unless it's a desirable card..just a waste of time
