He's just playing the odds that a newbie wouldn't know. He does a lot of this stuff.

That is definitely lame! Wow, amazing...

Ok, here's one. The brief description on this one gets better and better the more you read:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/RARE-1974-TOPPS-WACKY-PACKAGES-PACK-KOOK-AID-CARD-/151010318030?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123

And another one:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Wacky-packs-1979-Series-2-Error-Card-no-numbers-on-bottom-Eviltime-123-/171005199805?ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:US:1123

When I read that description I almost threw up in my mouth.  The hair thing was grossing me out.

The first one is indeed gross (how did the hair get there I wonder?), but the second description is classic. And I love how the seller assures us that "item will be shipped carefully in small bubble wrap mailer." Wouldn't want this card getting damaged in transit, now would you.

Are there any PSA grading guidelines for a sticker/card that has reached puberty?

That sticker reminds me of the famous hair on pizza scene in "She's All That".  Yuck.  As much as I would never want to think of a Wacky item as trash, THAT sticker should have become 'Wacky Garbage'... unless it truly was a 10th Series Kook-Aid variation.

This auction has it all:

1. Seller describes the pack as "81-fold"
2. Seller describes the pack as 15th series when it is 7th gumless
3. Seller describes pack as "ultra rare" when in fact it is probably the most common original series pack

Hat trick!

I don't know if this belongs here but does Jays sig enhance a nice card or devalue it? I would think this is probably now worthless. If it was Norm Saunders I would probably go the other way.

But he has proff that he signed it. Jay's awesome, I would think that at least it's value would stay the same.

Devalues it, stupid to have signatures done on regular stickers like that even if it is someone cool like Jay.

I signed it outside of the cut marks, though.  So the buyer can still stick it on his or her bike without the signature conflicting with the humor of the image.
The sticker has a so-called "hickey" on it.  A tiny air bubble in the corner there where the black ink didn't cover the blue ink.  Doesn't that also have
something to do with it's value?

Well, although Pepsi has denied that the tissue from the kidneys of of aborted human fetuses is now used as a sweetener in their products (which is categorically true, since it is actually the waste products produced by cultures of human kidney tissue cells...fetal or otherwise... which ultimately winds up in  the product rather than the cells themselves), I find that for once the Pope and I are on the same side of a controversy.   But I was wrong on this one in that it would be the POOPSIE Cola sticker that the Pope would more likely buy to stick on his bike.  I just commented prematurely on this without weighing the potential results of this auction fully.

Hey Dave,

I will have to post a pic of the ultimate faked pack. Fortunately I got it for a cheap price.  It is a series 15 21-fold pack, which are a lot harder to get thant he 85's.  When I got it, as always, I inspected it.  With the 21's, you can easily look inside the back of the pack by bending it a little and the opening pops open a little.  The first thing I see is the back fo the series 15 checklist....with about half of the boxes checked off!!  Then I look at the seal and pull at it a little, and it is rubber-cemented shut.  I think it would rip apart if I tried to open it, which I will to kill the obvious fake.  Bummer al the way around.

Do we have a "Buyers Beware" thread? Would be great to have a single thread where people can post eBay dealers, etc., with whom they've had questionable experiences.

Somebody named sd1945dd.  Of course in my infinite wisdom I left positive feedback before I really looked it over.  I had won a lot of auctions and I was just glancing at my loot.  I just looked him up.  He has 6 semi-recent negatives. Not a huge deal thought.  I paid $15.  Not my worst ebay burn ever.

I thought this might have been an unfolded poster, or at least a '73 test poster. You can, however, make an offer on this $5 worn '74 poster (asking $145 + $9 s/h), and it's also available for "private inspection" in advance of purchase :D
