Cease & Desist

Pardon the ignorance of a relative newbie, but always wondered about this.  Assuming Topps received a number of C&D letters for parodies from the original 1970s sets, how can they re-issue those like they did in Flashback, etc?  Is there some sort of statute of limitations perhaps where if they wait long enough, the C&D letters become stale?

Also, if a company sends a C&D letter relating to a particular sticker, is it OK for Topps to then do a different parody of that same product?

No I'm not a lawyer but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night  8)

Most of those 70s manufacturing companies and corporations no longer exist.  Their brand names, and in some cases their entire companies,  are now owned by a small handfull of food manufacturing conglomerates.
