Best Trade You Ever Made
« on: February 23, 2025, 07:38:54 AM »
Since there hasn’t been an OS post in months, im trying to drum up a bit of Wacky talk in a fallow period. What are collectors’ favorite trade for Wackys that you ever made? It could be a recent trade, or one from when you were a kid….I can remember trading a couple of Hot Wheels cars (which were also cool) to a kid at school for a small stack of Wackys when I was in about 3rd or 4th grade. He thought he got the better of me and I thought i got the better of him. MSRP wise, it was probably about an even trade…

I used to trade Wackys in the very early years, but then we started moving around too much, and I lost my trading partners.  But, I recall one trade for the last Series 2 sticker I needed, Run Tony.  I traded my extra Liptorn for that.  And later on, I did an early email trade, my extra Cheapios poster that I used to have very neatly pinned to my bulletin board for a set of punched die cuts, with reproductions of Ratz and Cracked Animals.  I didn't have any die cuts at that point.

For me it was back in late 1975, 5th grade home room before class started.  I was trading 7th series stickers with another kid when we discovered the Grime variation.  We both had duplicates but one of us had only the "Dusty-Greasy" version and the other of us had only the "Heavy" version.  We traded so that we both had both versions.

Fast-forward 24 years to 1999, when I re-discovered Wackys on the internet.  When I learned about the 7th series Grime variation, the memory of that trade flooded back and is probably the most vivid one I have now of collecting Wackys when I was a kid.
Giving "The Hobby" the finger since 1999!

I don't know that this was my best trade, but it was definitely unusual. Another Wacky fan and I were once so impressed with each other's No. 44 Jolly Means that we wound up trading them. This after spending several minutes scanning each card.

...with each other's No. 44 Jolly Means...
I'd be impressed with a #44 Jolly Mean, too...since they're 43 or 21. Just bustin chops, John :P

Don't really have a "best trade" from when I was a kid...but, prob the best two were the $50 I traded to an eBay seller for my Wacky truck and the $50 I traded another eBay seller for 4 Kook-Aid glasses, which I then traded to other folks here to complete my glass set. I really stepped in it on both of those deals.  :-[

A typo...they definitely weren't 21's. You won't often see two of those in the same place at the same time.
