Call me a stickler, but don't ducks have BILLS, not BEAKS? And in a weird way, I think "Bill" would have been closer than "Beak" (Although I get that it sort of sounds like a mispronounced "Bic"). I hope my criticism isn't considered Fowl play!

Yeah, they could have put any bird in the parody and it would still be funny. I suppose at the time a duck was used for nostalgic purposes.
I'm thinking there is a "missing link" real product packaging used for this parody. The image I found is the closest match.

Duck parodies are the best, and here is the next one on the checklist...Beak Shaver, a parody of Bic Shaver.

I always thought this was a cute Wacky.

Steve, thanks so much for continuing this super fun series!
Yes it’s very questionable as to why Topps would allow multiple parodies of the same product in the same series.  Currently there aren’t a ton of restrictions on what can be parodied but the non-repeat rule is strictly enforced.  I had originally submitted ‘Hot Snails’ for ANS 2023 and although the gag was approved it ended up being pushed to ANS 2024 as Joe Simko’s ‘Rot Wheels’ had already been approved for that set.

Late on this, but regarding the 1982 Wackys and the promotion with Purina cereals, the four cereal parodies were the same as the cereals in which the stickers were packaged. Hence, the reason why two versions of Waffleo's were parodied.

I can't recall if there were other Purina cereals marketed specifically to kids in 1982... Purina had other cereals, sure, but not ones that were targeted at kids.

From ducks to dogs...the next parody is Terrier, a parody of Perrier.

I love the art on this one! I remember liking it so much that I wanted to dream up my own version. I came up with Derrier, which pushed the limits of what was allowable, but I thought it got the "kid humor" just right!

That was a great one! The logo and even the bottle in your parody had subtle butt shapes. Would love to see your original ideas before you toned it down to Topps approval.

Anyone else experiencing a delay when clicking on the image thumbnails to view them larger? Must be a problem with the image server again.

I think the image gallery problem was fixed.

The next one is another throwback to the original series...Chock Full O' Guts, a parody of Chock Full O' Nuts coffee. This real packaging hasn't changed much from the 1960s to 1985.

This is a much harder one to parody than you'd think. It is easy to rhyme...butts, sluts, cuts...but it is a lot tougher to visualize the gag. This one gets bonus points for grossness!

The interpretation of ‘guts’ is somewhat odd.  Lots of pink, lots of tubes, but nothing that looks like a human organ…maybe a stomach?  I look at it and I think of bagpipes.  I guess if the object was to not traumatize children too much, it may have succeeded in that regard.  Call it ‘generic’ guts. By comparison, Hostile Thinkies left nothing to the imagination.  I’m grateful I didn’t see it until five years later in Reissue Series 2.

This one is easy to visualize, just replace the Nutt's with cigarette Butt's, mmmm mmmm gross!

Next up is the Soapy Washman, a parody of the Sony Walkman. Very fun and clever gag! I like how the ear pieces on the headphones are brushes.

I like the song titles on the cassette by the Soapremes…
Bubble Love (Jungle Love)
Wash on By (Walk on By)
Every Bath you Take (Every Step You Take)
Soap Gets in Your Eyes (Smoke Gets in Your Eyes)

Are all four of these songs post-Diana Ross?

Yeah, and how the buttons on the side say "Rub-a"/"dub"/'dub" and "Rinse".

None of them have anything to do with Diana Ross or the Supremes.

In strictly chronological terms, no. "Smoke Gets in Your Eyes" by the Platters and Dionne Warwick's "Walk on By" are pre-1970. "Every Breath You Take" by the Police is the most contemporary of the four.

I associate both the Walkman and "Jungle Love" with my first days at college. The Walkman was all the rage then, and my roommate often played the Steve Miller Band's "Book of Dreams" album.

Actually, I thought about this some more [yes, I need to get a life] and I think the reference of Bubble Love is not to Jungle Love, but the Supremes song Baby Love. Makes more sense, ya?

Up next is Cannon, a parody of Dannon yogurt. I love the parody and it's a clever concept. Just not a big fan of the overall execution. The "Splurt!" graphic takes up almost 50% of the artwork space, making this look more like a Wacky ad.

The parody art looks like it's based on a hybrid of plain and a berry Dannon yogurt, where the cannon balls look like berries. Oh...and I heard Cannon yogurt goes great with Weak Germ!

I agree, those early Dannon graphics are awesome, but the ‘explosion’ graphic dominates the art too much.  Save that for Jiffy Pop IMO.  I think Crazy Labels did a better parody of Dannon a few years earlier.

What was Crazy Labels' parody name for Dannon?

UPDATE: I just looked it up, it's Done-In.

Moving along...up next we've got Pupto-Dismal, a parody of Pepto-Bismol. I wish there was one or two large bones floating inside the pink liquid, instead of a bunch of little bones looking like they are printed on the outside of the bottle.

I agree, there should be 1 oversized bone too big to be in the bottle...how'd they do that?

Actually ‘Done-In’, as in snuffed out, dead, etc.  I think it shows a headstone or something.  Nothing great, the Crazy Labels overall were kinda weird compared to Wackys, but at least with Done-In they didn’t intrude on the packaging design the way the ‘85 Wacky did.
