Wacky Halloween 2024!!!

Favorites:
Sunbeast - great design
Mortem Salt - excellent gag
Pus - ewww
Spirit - simple but elegant design
Crunched - love the feet
Punkin' Donuts - love the spooky faces
Almond Joint - always loved skeletons
Cloak - love the vampire stare
Cuttafinger - gross!
White Casket - see earlier love of skeletons, love the gag
Sweetish Flesh - hysterical
Old Spirits - very cute
Curse The Light - well executed
Boscare - great monster
Sugar Bodies - love the corpse
Clawssen - love the claw
RIPZ - love the Death character
Bloodlets - great character and gag

That's half the set! Let me say this is a great set, I appreciate the smaller size - I think the quality goes up overall when you have less than 40 cards vs 55+.

One question - can someone explain the gag in Accident?

Attackys - I love these guys so much, I've been collecting two sets of the recent subsets - one for the source series binder, one for the Attacky binder! It's a pity the proper sets seem to have stopped.

Wonkys - also adore these, I wish I had been smart enough to double these up too when they came out. I can't imagine how long it took to draw every single vitamin face on "Runt A Way".

Wacky Pals - anyone else catch the "Mr. Lee" reference on #4? That's Christopher Lee who played Dracula in the 1958 movie.

Wrappers - always nice to see a Monsterettes reference, one of the all time great lost Wackys.

Does anyone else use their phone camera's zoom function to read small text and details on the cards?

I never thought of that!  When my dad passed away, I got his concave magnifying glass that I use.  It really helps my 60-year old eyes to read the small print.

Since we got past Wacky Halloween 2024, I doubt Topps plans a Wacky Packages 2024 Christmas set by around Thanksgiving or start of December. Unless there's plans for Wacky Packages Old School series 12 at that time.

What were the odds on the spider web titles? I opened a box and didnt get one….

The Master List entry will usually answer this sort of question. In this case, there were 25 of each foil, times 36 titles = 900 total, in 1350 total boxes. So each box had a 2/3 chance of pulling one.

Thanks. I had seen the mention of orange foils and gold foils. I did not realize the gold foils are the spider web cards. I DID get two orange foils in my box, so I don’t feel cheated…

My understanding is that the gold foils and the orange foils are the same thing.  The spider web cards are also referred to as the gold web foils.  At least that's my take.

Topps.com doesn't mention anything about variation cards for Halloween 2024.

OK, looks like everyone has cards in hand.  Or anything new in this set that you’d like to see return in future Wacky offerings?

Some additional things I noticed with the set -
9 card checklist. A great use of the card if there is going to be one in every pack.

There’s no copyright notice on the front of the card, allowing the images on the cards to be noticeably larger and to fully fill out the space. A very welcome change!

There’s a beer parody in an ANS set! Great to see one included.

So now that the smoke has cleared on the sales of this set it is worth noting that the Shot Wolves Wonky was sold 11 times on Ebay for around $90 average price. That is great news as one dealer did not hold most of them and would only sell them for $200 as happened with the Variation cards. There are zero Shot Wolves Wonky's for sale now and future sales may be pricier; but at least those willing to pay $90 got a shot at this cool card. The Wonky set in this release had some very cool titles. I have every Wonky made to date and plan to keep up with this subset. Same with the Wacky Pals Comics. Love those!

I was glad to see that everyone here got the Shot Wolves Wonkys they needed; for a little while, it looked like that was going to be a problem.  I too have "collected em' all" and definitely wish to continue!!  Same goes for the Wacky Pal Comics, and Attacky Packages; all three "subsets" were immediately put into pages in the binders holding their respective sets.

I'm not a fan of variation borders when they are simply a different color Wacky border color, but I do generally like to keep examples of the foils, and was especially enamored of the Halloween 2024 spider web design!  I chose one of the narrowest titles as my keeper, the better to see the web design!!

I concur and have done the same - at least one example of each variation but I'm not chasing sets of golds or foils when they're super expensive. I agree that the web foils are A+!
