New item this month
The portrait cards are out, and ‘bazooka Joe’ type comic is in

That's too bad, I was enjoying the portraits.

Not to worry, the portraits are sure to make future appearances ;) . In the meantime, here's another comic card for your amusement!

Looks like #5 on the checklist should be "Spout" (extra "r")?

For the last entry on the June 2022 checklist - #20 - Is "Chill's" a take off of a Chili's Restaurant menu?

Topps sent an email today to all the folks that bought some of the recent GPK Hate the 90's expansion packs. They should of been shipped out in mid-late May. Email listed out a staggered set of release dates through June, with basically everything a full month behind schedule.
Likely the May Wackys are caught up in these delays too. We just haven't gotten an email though.

Why would they do that?!

As far as I know.  If I had any left, I'd send you a base set :(

Don't you remember the Rude Food subset spoofed in a Wacky Packages ANS some years back featuring takeoffs of restaurant menus?

I just think it's too complicated and detailed of a thing to spoof. I prefer consumer products. I personally would love to see Topps create specific focused sets just about record album and CD covers, Blu-Ray covers, book covers, posters, logos...I could go on with the potential!

I suggest for the rest of the 2022 year and may 2023 for the monthly Wacky sets:
* Making the portraits, Wacky Pack comics, and wonkys 3 each for the set instead of 4.
OR...
* Have the Wonkys alternate with the Wacky comics and/or portraits each month. (One gets the month off)

Speaking of the Wacky Pack comics in the style of Bazooka Joe: 1) Will there be Wacky Pack comics with 1985 and 1991 and most since 2004 ANS Wacky Packages entries? 2) If you wanted Wacky comics, why not Sunday comic strip takeoffs Wacky Package style of popular newspaper comic strips (Peanuts, Garfield, Dennis the Menace, Doonesbury, Beetle Bailey, Blondie, Hagar the Horrible, Dilbert, Family Circus, Zits, Pearls Before Swine, Dick Tracy, Baby Blues, Big Nate, Gasoline Alley, Mutts, B.C., Wizard of Id, Snuffy Smith, Hi and Lois) for a future subset? Call it "The Wacky Sunday Funnies".

Staying right at that 500 level so far this year

I wonder how many discrete collectors this number represents?  Does not seem like a very large community at all...

yes.
the recent weekly online GPK 90's sets all got delayed by a month, so I suspect Wacky's have at least a month delay as well.
While the GPK folks got emails from Topps explaining the delay and the expected actual ship dates, Wackys did not.

There's been a shortage of sticker stock recently. It's completely wrecked havoc with the planned GPK retail sets.
The next set is "Book Worms" in July, and Topps just cancelled all Bonus boxes for that release, as they are unable to make enough cards for them after filling the retail and collector boxes.

About the last groupling of Wackys in May, I'm beginning to think "GooGoo Sneez" is spoofing GoGo Squeez applesauce.

With the sticker shock shortage, blame it on the COVID pandemic!

Clearly I am ignorant of the law, but shouldn't Topps charge buyers at the time of (or shortly prior to) shipment, rather than at time of purchase, especially since the product isn't typically ready to ship until around a month later?  Better yet, shouldn't Topps wait until the product is completed and ready for shipment before even putting it up for sale in the first place?

Then they couldn't print just enough to satisfy the demand.  I wouldn't object to them not charging me until they ship, though.

Ah, good point about the timing and the demand.  I hadn't thought of that.

Topps is the only place I purchase items from charging at time of purchase rather than at the time of shipping which I find to be quite puzzling especially, as you said, when items typically ship a month or more after purchase.

The day pre-orders opened for the Xbox Series X back in 2020, MS took your info but did not charge the $500+ until it shipped in November.

I did get all my backlogged GPK We Hate the 90's Expansion sets in the mail yesterday.

No wackys, but at least there seems to be some light at the end of this tunnel.

My April set order placed on 4/13 is still "processing".  Topps responded by email that they are experiencing delays. I guess this is the "paper shortage" playing out?
I am boycotting these sets until I get these cards.

Tell them everyone else got theirs a month ago.  They might think you are talking about the May set.

I thought the May sets got finally shipped over the last weekend in June.
