Groundhog Day sketch
« on: March 28, 2024, 10:35:41 PM »
I've been combing through my collection lately and looking for holes. I've got an April Fools Day sketch from 2013 which came with one of the Wacky comics but I came across a reference to a Groundhog Day sketch somewhere on this forum. Anyone know the story behind those? There's also a holiday 2012 sketch, I believe, but I'm not sure where that came from.

Mitch I think the cards you’re referring to (hard to be certain without images to go by) are all from the Wacky Comic Books.  I recall there being a plethora of different sketch types with one comic in particular maybe it was the Groundhog Daze one and then there were ‘Lost’ comics which had sketches some of which may have snuck out in Fun Packs.  It might take a few days but I can dig through my stuff and can send you pics of what I have from that period if you want.

Wow, that's a beautiful sight! I didn't know there were color Postcard sketches before series 6.

I've got a holiday and April's Fools sketch. Were they all included with the comics? I got the comics without sketches.

Pat, the pictures don't show up on my computer. Maybe something was typed wrong?

It's been somehow fixed on my end, Mitch, thanks. I just looked at them and they're funny!

No, as Joe G. said, I recall some of them them coming in "bonus envelopes" with later orders.  And the color Series 1 sketch is a special return from Neil  ;)

Funny I can’t recall exactly how the FunPaks were released but I think initially they were given out with a certain level of spending (maybe $100) at Shop Topps and then you could get them at the Philly Show, Comikaze (which is where I got mine) and maybe NYCC.  After that they were seen in the secondary market for awhile. This was 2012 and 2013 and was a pretty exciting period to collect Wacky sketches.  Here’s a few pics of the ones I have.  Nothing as fancy as Pat’s but a few fun ones for sure.

For those who are interested, I’m sure if you search FunPak on the forum you could piece together the whole history.

Paging Patrick...

This stuff should have a Master List. Where should it go? "Comics & Other Items"?
