For the 90s redesign it looks like they made the logo italicized. The straight up lettering was the 80s. Also looks like the 90s got more "festive" The little dots were changed to confetti like triangles and are not arranged perfectly and they put one larger
fruit on the cup (though maybe the other is on the other side, not sure).

I think that settles it.  There's some theoretical wiggle room I suppose, that somehow OJ was using that 1990's design earlier, but it's a deep stretch. Unless you've got something I've never seen that throws in the face of the corroborative evidence I've got here.  And, beyond all that hard evidence, the 90's one just reeks of 90's design.  And the 80's similarly for the 80's.  :-)

But hey, I'm the weirdo packaging historian, and people get this stuff wrong all the time.  Journalists, google-ers.  It's why, once they know, I'm called in to consult on all these period TV shows and films.  This is what I do!   8)

A UK product? I bet it should have made the 1982 Irish Wacky Packs series.

French fries and ketchup,  :great:

Tube of mashed potato with a ketchup center, yuck.

All kidding aside though, don’t remember these at all.  If from UK, that would explain it.

Boy, I really don't think this one had US distribution, I've never seen it (not that I've seen everything), and I cannot for the life of me find a single mention of it in US sources.

Whatever the case, I think it's an awesome inclusion (even if only a 1980's UK product). Love it.

What was the typical content of Omni in its heyday?  Science fiction short stories, serials, etc?  I’ve long known of it, I believe it was a Bob Guccione publication, but I never came across a copy to check it out.

Besides Omni, remember 2 other science related magazines in the 1980's? - 3-2-1 Contact Magazine and Discover Magazine?

We still have Popular Science magazine.

First published in October 1978 by Guccione (publisher of Penthouse magazine), OMNI touted itself as a Science Fact/Fiction magazine.  When it began, it was mostly filled with interesting genuine science articles about space, physics, earth sciences, medicine, etc.  Each issue would also have three or four short sci-fi stories in it as well that were all usually pretty good.  Back in those early days, I devoured each issue, reading it cover-to-cover.  But as I said, as the magazine continued on, the science articles began to gravitate more towards the realm of UFOs, Psychic Phenomenon and the Paranormal.  By the end of the 1980's, that was pretty much all it seemed to report on.  Heck even the issue that Dave parodied here (July 1982) has on the cover the caption "Link Between Computers and the Paranormal".

I do remember Discover magazine but not the Contact magazine.  I had a subscription to OMNI in the late 80's / early 90's mainly just to keep the collection complete.  I rarely read the whole magazine any longer at that point.  I think it was around 1992 that they stopped publishing OMNI and I remember that I started getting Discover magazine in its place for my subscription.

I remember 3-2-1 Contact and its show-within-a-show, The Bloodhound Gang. It had two main characters - a Black teen girl and a Black teen boy - and a younger White kid that, I think, was a different one in most every episode.

The teen girl would always answer the phone with the line "Bloodhound Detective Agency. Whenever there's trouble, we're there on the double. Mr. Bloodhound isn't here." After that, I always said to myself "...and never will be.", because no one on the team ever saw Mr. Bloodhound or heard his voice, unlike Charles ("Charlie") Townsend in Charlie's Angels where, even if the Angels never saw Charlie, they did hear his voice.

there was an attempt at a re-start a few years ago, and it looked like the magazine would be coming back to newsstands quarterly.
but only the 2017 collector issue ever saw the light of day
