Who Do We Miss?
« on: October 26, 2020, 07:37:01 AM »
I was discussing some of the great artists we have painting Wackys nowadays, including Neil Camera, Dave Gross, Joe Simko, Brent Engstrom, and Smokin' Joe, with another gag writer, and we began to wonder who else was still out there that had done Wacky paintings. Now, before anyone starts, we all miss Norm Saunders and Jay Lynch, but I'm talking about artists that are still painting. If we were to create a Top 25 list of living Wackys artists, who would be on it? Joe Grossberg comes immediately to mind. Who else?

wow, there are so many.  Joe Grossberg is fantastic, and Topps has
been showcasing them since the first week of the guest artist cards
in its Weekly Wacky series, starting with Robert Jimenez!

I think I can list about a few dozen to start with, everyone is awesome
(as the Lego Movie tells us...)

Jeff Zapata?

I never really got too involved in tracking who painted what, but I’ve seen Jeff’s name mentioned quite a bit.

I don't think the George Wright or Matthew Kirscht have done anything recently with Topps.

Matthew recently had a guest spot in the weekly sets and i was lucky  to have him paint for the new wacky Halloween set

I think we can all say that everyone is great, no reason to single out anyone, for fear of leaving out another!

you have to remember that a lot of the Artists are also doing GPK, that could be a large portion of the artist that you don't see.

Chad S and Chenduz come to mind. Floydman also.  As I said the list is HUGE.
