Just got an email saying the Spring 2020 Philly show has been cancelled! Bummer! I missed last Fall and was looking forward to going in May. Curse you all-the-more, COVID-19!
I have plenty of time for card related activities at the moment, but unfortunately not much interest.
I'm disappointed, but not surprised. This year, it was supposed to coincide with Allentown's PinFest (the latter has been moved to June 12-13).Everyone be well, stay safe and Wacky on.
yeah, when the two events line up, I do both. The pinfest is the definition of germ sharing so I can't imagine they will even hold the June 12-13 show. I love the pinfest so if I go, I will be wearing gloves for sure.
That is always a possibility, however let's focus that it will be on.
I'd say the 2021 spring show is less likely to be held than the fall 2020 show. I think things with the virus could be quieted down enough that a fall show happens but round 2 of this with next flu season sounds like it could be tough. People need to use this round to understand protocols and get themselves into a system as a round 2 of this that starts in December with winter to consider and possibly much longer lock down will be a challenge. Let's see if the experts are right on this.
There was a 1959 "Alfred Hitchcock Presents" episode on during the night that was set in the future (1980!). Check this out! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5mOgdP6q9Uhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B5mOgdP6q9U
For sure shaking hands will be a thing of the past!
One thing that will be very interesting to see is if the Italians give up the tradition of the double face kiss. That has been a tradition since the beginning, but that is probably one of the reasons they are hit so hard. Lots of opportunity for transfer with that.
I work for Sony and have worked with Japanese techs on and off over the past 20 years. I think the Japanese got this right centuries ago using a curt head bow, rather than a handshake. Although I have noticed they feel more comfortable with smaller amounts of personal space around them than most Americans are.
Philly Show day today! Almost.....
And the weather would have been perfect for it!
I would have attended although nice weather is NOT a selling point to stay inside for a collectibles show.
I was planning on attending the show last weekend, but hopefully things will be back to normal in October.I always have fun looking at variety the items up for auction at Merchant's Square Mall.
Just got an email cancelling the October show. Sorry everybody
