A new sketch just showed up on ebay
http://cgi.ebay.com/WACKY-PACKAGES-ANS7-1-1-ARTIST-SKETCH-CARD-ENGSTROM-19-/270630347199

I can't find on Brent's site where it states he only did 19 sketches.

Brent states he did 19 paintings for the ANS7 in his blog. I bet the seller mis-read that or is confused.

Are you referring to Ebay though? At least with the postcard sketches we pretty much know exactly with whom all 250 ended up going to. If we are lucky 50 of the ANS will show up in the hands of collectors and dealers to be seen at all. The postcards don't sit on shelves at Target and Wal-Mart to be scooped up by kids and impulse buyers.
3 more on ebay today.  We are at or over 10 now, correct?  With Zealots like Cardgarys listing them for $2000, it will motivate more and more to be listed on ebay.  Watch and see, over time, I think we will see at last 100.  It will just take time, we all have time.......

Here's another one that sold real quick

http://cgi.ebay.com/Wacky-Packages-7-ANS7-1-1-Sketch-Card-BRENT-ENGSTROM-/170535567751

I bet Brent was wishing he could sell quick sketches for this kind of money! I'm sure most artists would love this.

I had to throw away several foils they was so damaged. Topps should trade me a different sketch card. That’s not even right getting a damaged sketch…at least it was not major damage.

It definitely will affect the value a little but at the current prices these are selling at you could probably still make very good money on it, if that was your intention.

Topps must be livid over all of the damaged cards.  I'm sure they are getting hit with several complaints.  They are probably going back to the printer for credits, but the problem in a production process with many steps no one will take responsibility for the damage.  The Foils are obviously printer related though.

Crazy, $1,000.00 seems to be the value right now, so you don't can feel decent about your price I guess.  When I look at a BIN auction like that link you provided why doesn't it show the winner (in the scrambled format)?

Send them back to Topps. At least the gold. I did and will see what happens.
By the way I am moving this thread into the sketch review thread.

A couple more Crust's have shown up and again it's CardGary!

http://cgi.ebay.com/Wacky-Packages-ANS-7-COLOR-SKETCH-CARD-Fred-Wheaton-/380265715717

I wonder why all 4 of Fred's Crusts have shown up? CardGary must be opening truck loads of cards to find the sketches. He'll be selling base cards for next 100 years!

It's the same guy buying all these sketches. He has quite a bit of cash in these already.

How did this guy pull 2 sketches and why is the majority of Fred's sketches showing up?

Did he steal Cardgary's auction descriptions or is this an alter id of CardGary's?  I am avoiding the whole ANS7 sketch scene at this time.  Something doesn't feel right and I certainly have no interest in putting any money in Cardgary's pocket.  IF my patience causes me to never get any ANS7 sketches, so be it but I am not going to pay the "hyper mode" prices.

I like original ideas for sketches, not redrawn Norm Saunders style sketches. I'm sure Brent could have done something different. Why too much even for a sketch

Way too much, also   ;D

I notice the Pupsi sketch auction says it was painted with acrylics while another auction says a sketch was done with, "Micron black pen and Prismacolor markers".
I'm assuming the color was added using markers?

This sketch sold a little lower than others I've seen: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320583735057&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT

Maybe this is a sign of a market adjustment...

I was very surprised to win this with the bid I put in.  I think this is about where the sketches should be selling, and hopefully the days of $1,000.00 + are over.  I also noticed a gold that sold for $255.00, much more reasonable.

Yes, for the Ajerx sketch I roughed it in with light pencil first, then darkened the outlines with Micron pens, which are permanent ink. After the black lines dried I layered in color with the Prismacolor markers... which are not top of the line I guess, but they blend OK. They often bleed through to the back of the card though.

I drew a black and white Ajerx similar to it (only one) or the pack-inserted sketches.

Topps wanted inked drawings of the full packages for the ANS7 sketch cards, so Brent's are all right in line with the editors' instructions. It's a lot of work to try to replicate a Wacky at that scale, and I can't imagine actually painting one that size. My hat's off to him.

I believe it is due to the type of sketch it is along with the popularity of a title. If that Pupsi or Ajerx went for around $500 I would totally believe these are declining.
On the golds I believe there are 2 or 3 main collectors for the golds and once they have them then they will drop a bit. Overall it's probably better to sell off everything now and re-buy in a few months ;)
