Wacky subset in new GPK Late to School
« on: January 30, 2020, 10:03:56 AM »
In case you don't know, there is a 10-card subset in the new GPK Late to School release,
and I believe that Sir Smokin' Joe is the "artiste du jour" with this one.

They look nice, and I've also heard they are tough to get.  One per collector's box, if I heard correctly?

Thanks, Joe!

Presumably you mean one such card per collector box, not one such set per collector box?

Interesting that they did not put the classic wacky logo on the card backs.  This will be a pricey set. Nice artwork and gags.

I hope later in 2020 Topps plans a "Wacky Packages Meet the Garbage Pail Kids" series (rather than a possible GPK OH THE HORROR SERIES 3?).

Thanks!  A nice enough looking set, but for that price, I'll pass.

Actually it's just PeeChee as in the folders that inspired the Trapper Keeper.  The name came from Peachy Keen.

Here's an article about the Trapper Keeper that mentions them:

I just saw these at Target the other day...the blaster boxes that is.  Too bad these aren't a retail insert.

Geez, $175 for the subset of 10!

It took a little patience, but I was able to do much better than that $17.50-apiece price by acquiring a set basically one card at a time.  Even when shipping charges (if not "free shipping") are factored in.  Just have to wait for those lower priced auctions or Buy It Now's to pop up.
