OS back color and variations
« on: August 22, 2010, 11:44:17 AM »
Does anyone know for the original 1-16 series what sets had white, Tan, tri fold or any combination of backs? If anyone has a list that they could share I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks,
Mark

Greg has all the back info per series on his site, but I don't believe there is a consolidated list.

In Wacky-Base on the last tab of the reports is a set price guide. The prices may be a bit dated but it does list the different backing options for each series.
I have attached a PDF so you can see it. Looks like I need to move the EXIT button a bit to the right so it doesn't show up on the reports.

I like your optimism regarding the possible existence of a Spit & Spill blank lid white back and a Spic variation with a tan back!

Greg had a guy several years ago who sent him a video of the regular version as a whiteback, and based on him exchanging phone conversations and scrutenizing the video he felt there was a decent chance it was legit.  He has tried to contact him a few times since then but gets no response, so he never saw the card in person.  It is possible it was a re-stick though, but it's aso possible it was legit!

I remember seeing that video.  I personally think it was someone yanking Greg's chain but you never know.

Are there series later on that don't have a prominent roller mark or this is acceptable way they ALL are?

Yes but it's really hit and miss. The later series are really tough to find without.
