Topps Now Anniversary Wrapper cards

Is it just me, or did Topps completely mess up the Buck Rogers card they just offered?

I thought the faces on the 80th version looked a bit goofy, but checking the original just now, I see they were always that way to begin with. I thought the wrapper had better likenesses, but guess not.

Everything just looks lighter.

I also think the superior resolution actually makes the art look worse, as it was designed for poorer resolution.

The cyan plate probably didn't scan properly when the original design was auto-traced.  Also, there's some details (for example, his left eye and the barrel of the laser) that didn't convert correctly.

Still no Wacky Packages wrapper in the 80th. [sigh]

But, they made the 1971 Partridge Family wrapper and poster available today, so this boy went for one of each. Wacky Pack gotta be coming soon...right?
