Pat, you need to submit your Cracked Animals. Speaking of which, I just noticed there is now a CA 9!

That's a beautiful Shots!  Congrats.

I'd love to see a picture of the Cracked Animals 9!  My Cracked Animals is at PSA right now, hope to have a grade notification by next week.  I'm figuring a 5 or 6 because of a corner crease.  Regardless of what number it gets, it is so clean and centered that I will be happy with it.

My Cracked Animals got the expected PSA 5.  I should have it back in a week or so, and will post a scan.

That’s a positive result. Look forward to seeing a scan.

The 8th series was not one where I ever had a lot of nice cards to submit for some reason, so I’m gradually chipping away. Still only around 53% complete.

Very nice Dave. Another one that can be fickle as far as centering.

Looks very nice and bright, too. This has always been one of my favorite 8th series titles.

Yes, as I look over my upper series cards (8 on) i get lots of roller marks.  Frustrates me to no end.

Exactly Joe, of my 8th, 9th, 12th and 14th sets almost all had roller marks so I had to start basically from scratch.

and some of them you don't notice until you magnify them.  I have stacks of mint cards that I can't grade because of faint roller marks.  They look awesome but you know what a roller mark will come out as a grade though.  Therefore why even bother.  There though are the cards out there, it just takes patience to find them

This is why 14th tans are nearly impossible in high PSA grades.

I remember at the time I posted these in 2013, people were asking about the whiteness of the borders. At the time I didn’t really see it, but my scanner is awful at reproducing these colors correctly. I’ve been fooling around with editing a black background into iPhone photos and produced these images that mimic scans. The iPhone 7 camera captures the colors perfectly, even though these pics are not as faithful as the real iPhone pics due to being compressed by postimage.

Actually those were after uploading to the PSA set registry. These are directly uploaded to postimage from the original photo. Do they look any better/worse quality, or about the same? The only down side of this approach is it’s hard to avoid reflections off the PSA holder when photographing.

The ones from the phone are much nicer looking (especially the borders) than the scanner produced ones.

I agree, the border coloring is much better on the phone pictures.  That reddish hue from your scan pictures is similar to what I'm usually apologizing for, and saying "it looks a lot better in person."

As always, if you have any hand-me-downs, I'm interested   ;)

I don’t know why I’m so obsessed with these pictures, but if I’m going to bust my butt finding nice cards, I’d like them to at least look as nice as they are :)

worth the effort, I think.

you could probably use photo tools to correct the scanned images, such as using 'white correction' in the label area. I did that to your posted Mrs Klean to see how well that would work. Close to your new photo. Maybe still better to take new pics.

That looks pretty good. I think the pics taken with the iPhone have a crisper image than the scanner, whiteness aside.

Does postimage reduce the file size of uploaded pics in a specific way? They say the limit on file size is 12MB, but the original images for these are nowhere near that big and the postimage versions still seem to have less resolution.

That looks sharp! I prefer a clean looking card that's off center to a perfectly centered "used" looking card.

I like it! Might have graded higher without the border crease.

This one is quite bright and clean, and much better centered than a lot of Crackeds that seem to have their black borders all the way up at the left corner of the card - I can't stand to look at those.  The die-cut is also in just the right place around the image, which is another pet peeve of mine.  It actually has very nice corners, too.  The downfall is a crease at the bottom right.

It's got great eye appeal!  I think it had a shot at a 6; without the crease I can't see how it could have gotten less than a 7.

Added these test patches to my collection the past few weeks. All from different sources. Funny how you can go years without seeing any then several in a short period of time.

Just got these back from PSA.  The Camals and Vicejoy are upgrades for me, and the Cover Ghoul and Breadcrust are extras.  I also got back a Chocked #5 that got a PSA 5.  Very pleased with the Camals 8.5!

Nice going!  I don't follow PSA closely, when did they start doing decimals?  Doesn't that erode the whole grading number process ie a previously graded PSA8 really would have qualified for a PSA8.5 and now it is considers a laggard to PSA8.5?  Will they soon start implementing 1/4 point grades?
