In the Real Products department, scored this nice Post Raisin Bran cereal box off eBay.  Although it was produced several years later (exp. date Oct 82) than its OS4 counterpart, the graphics appear to be identical.

Have to admit to mixed feelings about this angle of collecting.  On the one hand, it's really cool to find these Wacky product matches, but on the other, you realize you're spending hard-earned cash for old trash!  Crazy!!!!  Guess that's what it means to be Wacky.

Yeah, if only we had known as kids!  We could have walked from house to house with wagons and wheelbarrows on trash night and accumulated a future fortune for free!  (But then again, our parents probably would have shouted, "Are you out of your mind?  What's all of this crap?" - and threw it right back out again.)

(Just think, though.  If you begin to save every scrap of trash from this point on, you will secure the future of your grandchildren and great-grandchildren!)

Sweet! Congrats!

Can you make out the series from the sticker? I would guess 7th.

When I bought it, it was listed as 7th. You cannot tell from the sticker. Too bad it's faded. Obviously not cherry, but hey, it's not everyday you come by an OS box. Need to buy a Styrofoam cube to put inside. I believe you are to wrap it as well, correct?

If the box is not in great shape and collapsing, it does help to fill it to preserve the shape, and either shrink wrap it or put it in a mag-sized comic bag if you can find one that fits it properly.

If the box has good structural integrity it isn't really necessary to fill it, though it would probably make it more durable.

This is how they look if you use a comic mag bag:

I purchased a small lot of Wacky cards that originally came from The Topps Vault that arrived today:

This one came with the others. Odd that in 1980 an unscored card was considered a collector's item and now it has, unfortunately, become the norm.

Not sure I ever posted these before, but found them this week in a box of stuff I brought to Allentown a few years ago.  Halloween 2011 Postcard sketches - the Kirscht Alltoads was a pack pull, and the Chaimuang Bog Red was a return.

This is the card I received from Neil yesterday for the same reason. I asked for a Godzilla themed card. In typical Neil genius, it became a GODZOOKA work of art:

I received this spectacular custom sketch from Neil in the mail yesterday!

It's the monster that emerges from my mind when a rude driver cuts me off on the road.

Last week, I saw a couple of random sets of Wacky Packages for sale online. I noticed that there was a Bandache, and a couple of Lavirus, and a smattering of other first series titles mixed in with the two lots. While looking over the photos, I noticed that the cards were definitely nowhere near EX-MT... in fact, they all had pinholes at the top of each sticker. I almost kept moving along, but noticed that the price for the two lots were $16. each. I figured, for 32 bucks, the Bandache and Lavirus cards might be able to be used as fillers, and the rest would go into the give-away stack! Well, the package arrived this afternoon, and I was VERY surprised to find that they ALL have tan backs! Again, these are "filler" grade, but, to get a "Tandache" (in ANY condition!) for just over 30 dollars made my day!

I love surprises. Especially when they are Wacky Package-related!

I recently purchased a lot of 51 stickers that, at first glance, looked like they were in pretty questionable shape. The first thing that caught my eye, were the 14 stickers that had been re-adhered to random backings with Scotch tape! The picture of the lot was taken at a distance, so it was hard to see much of the condition of the other stickers. But, even though the picture was distant (and blurry), I decided to take a chance and purchase them. The copyright lines on the 3rd series titles looked smaller than normal, but it was hard to tell if it was just because of the poor photography. The BIN cost was $25., so I figured, if they're all dogs, at least I'll have some cool correspondence envelope sealing material on hand!

Well, my gut feeling about the copyright sizes turned out to be a good one. I received the package of stickers this morning, and all of the 3rd series stickers were OPC's, and in really nice shape! AND, the "Argh" is an elusive OPC tan back!

The rest of the stickers were in much better shape than I expected, too. The white back of the Duzn't sticker is absolutely spotless!
