Received a package from Canada this afternoon! They're not mint, but are in really good shape for '73 OPC's!

Nice! Good to see that no matter what else you are involved in, you never stop being a vintage collector!

Does anyone have any insight regarding the Hawaiian Punks sticker on the left? It appears to be a N/C version, but I don't recall any discussions over the years of this title having no copyright. I aligned the image next to a sticker that has the copyright, and it doesn't appear to be a mis-cut. I've also compared it to images of an original 3rd series uncut sheet ("Spic & Span" version), as well as a Hostess pair, and they all have the copyright image in the same location.

Scratch my previous inquiry... I just superimposed the two images, and it looks like it was a printing fluke. The small, gray blob at the bottom-right of the N/C sticker appears to be a faint "A" from the end of the copyright line that did not get fully printed. I'm thinking that there could have been a piece of paper covering the copyright area that ended up getting printed instead of the sticker stock shown in the picture. Any thoughts?

The black lettering is lighter too.  I know nothing about printing process but perhaps there are two black strikes and the 2nd one to print the copy right and make the tag line darker didn't happen?  PSA doesn't care about missing copyright?  Shouldn't that be some kind of qualifier?

It appears that the vertical registration of the color plates was off a bit, which would affect the density and clarity of some of the details. There is a blue "halo" at the bottom of the black outline indicating that the cyan plate wasn't registered. One possibility, for the copyright to be missing, is that it was a separate solid black hit that was somehow left out, or not fully "inked"...

Yep, that's a Nertz.  Now I'm on the hunt for a 10¢ pack, and a die-cut pack.  Maybe a cloth pack, as well   :P

Congrats! I've been looking for a 10-cent pack in nice shape for years. There was one on eBay a few years ago but it looked like the seal was compromised so I passed. Cloth packs are really tough these days. Especially when you really have to examine these packs in person if the provenance is unknown. Happily that was not a concern here 😊

Thanks Dave!  I don't plan to try for sealed packs with the different ad back variations, but it is really cool to have the different looking packs, and the ads and die-cuts sure fit the bill!

Found another UK 2nd series title in the wild! Not mint... but I gave it a home anyway!

No new wackys lately, but I'm very psyched to have picked up this comic book...I've been searching for a nice copy of it for a decade. My favorite Neal Adams cover, and the beginning of the Bronze Age Superman run!

Very nice!!  Do you have a book of reprints so you can actually read the story?

Yes, this volume collects issues 233-241. It's a story called the "Sand Superman" saga. It was a conscious attempt in 1971 to abandon a lot of the Silver Age Superman silliness. Clark Kent started wearing hip clothes and became a TV news anchor at WGBS. These were my favorite comics as a kid.

So, I just didn't feel like my 50th anniversary collection was quite complete...and then Chenduz mentioned that he still had some blank sketch cards available...so I decided to go for it and fill in that center spot on my Ajerx medallions page. My thanks to Vincenzo for such a great sketch; I think it helps complete the page and make it pop.

Very nice! I assume you got the Ajerx gold from a box and completed from there? Or do you just like Ajerx? A Geek Giant gold sold for 634 or something from Matt Stock. Pretty expensive for me.  :great:

Very nice addition Tom. I was looking at the sketch in the other thread and it has amazing detail.

Thanks! You assume correctly.

Another gold Matt had (Chef Girl-Ar-Dee) sold for $940 a little while ago and Del Monster was out there from him and closed down, I assume due to an off ebay deal. The Geek Giant is the third one of his I've seen. I have Ajerx and I believe another forum member has another title. That would account for up to 5 of them, so 5 to go...

Del Monster is a really cool title, I can see why somebody would want that title without the auction. Is there a list of the other 5?

Yes, color and details really jump out at you.  In particular, "Stiffords" and "Swiss Mess."
