Perhaps Neil could chime in and tell us if the 6 card puzzles were drawn with consecutive numbers.
I would like to know that as well. Like you, I thought there were 6 of each puzzle (StarBeast and Tootsie Troll). Between Campy, you and I, we account for sketch numbers: 008, 051, 093, 136, 178, 220, 306, 327, 369, 411, 432, 474, 495
So this is 13 of the 36 Star Beast puzzle sketches. The closest together are 306/327 and 411/432 and 474/495... each 21 apart. So it doesn't appear they were consecutively numbered or we would have seen several closer together. In fact, it looks as if they were deliberately spaced apart. I can see wiley Neil doing this
So in my mind, the "real" question is whether there is any way to tell which sets of 6 puzzle pieces go together, if at all. Wouldn't it be a hoot if Neil just drew six different sketches of each position piece and there are no true sets of six?
