Don't know if it's been mentioned already, but the Wacky worms appear in the June 2021 title, "Cap'n Corpse"

So is it nostalgia from the artists to hide some "easter eggs" or are they just running out of character ideas?

You mean Kong's Hawaiian, right?

Actually, the line from Graft Cheese was "This here cheese was yellow, now it's full of holes", not "shot full of holes".

And I don't know about lines. Does anyone else think they should be considered the same thing as characters or not?

Sure, that line is not the same, but the line that is the same, is the same.

A monstrous version of one of the tomatoes from De-Mented Tomatoes is in the first one and the drunkard Mr. Peanut from Plastered Peanuts is in the second one.

If we're including lines as well as characters, here's one I noticed long ago:

*ANS5 #35 (mrs. Goodbar).

A variant of the line from Mrs. Klean is on it.

Here we go again, folks! This one's for the modern Wackys list in Reply #14 (the first one on this list in a long time). Thanks a lot to Joe G. for noticing this one!

ANS 2023:   #16 (Wolf Man Chili)

The werewolf from Fright Castle Ghoul Burgers (originally known as Fright Castle Greaseburgers) is in it.

Mike my pleasure, glad it made the list.  Also I was looking over the list and was surprised to see my Where’s Richard as the potential record holder for this.  Your count seems to be right but it is missing one other little tid-bit I added.  Not Wacky exactly so it may not rate inclusion but I also did add the Exterminator, arch-fiend from the Spider-Guy Krazy Comic to the painting.  I was on a bit of a Wally Wood kick at the time and just happened to be reading the Krazy Comics as I was completing this Wacky Packages art.

ANS1: #30 (Americans OnWine)

The drunk man from Barman Barroom Tissue is in it.

ANS2: #9 (Whacked Packages)

The gangster from Slayer Aspirin is in it.

ANS3 #33 (PayUp, Pal)

The gangster and the thug from Hawaiian Punks are both in it.

ANS4 #47 (Alive (Wacky Coupon card back))

In addition to the two Ugly Stickers monsters from before, a third Ugly Stickers monster is in it.

In addition, a Martian from Mars Attacks is in these two:

*ANS2: #2 (StarTrash.com)
*ANS4: #48 (EarthLing).

You may not know this, Joe, but in the Marvel Multiverse (specifically, the mainstream Marvel Universe of Earth-616) there once was an actual supervillain named the Exterminator (real name: Phillip Wallace Sterling). He was one of the many leaders of a supervillain group named the Ani-Men I (Ape-Man I, Bird-Man I, Cat-Man I, Frog-Man I and Dragonfly (the last member was the only woman to be in the group)) before he was seemingly killed in that identity. Years later, Sterling was resurrected and assumed a second identity - Death-Stalker I, battled Daredevil the Man Without Fear several times (with many of these battles between them ending in a draw), then in his final battle with Daredevil, he briefly formed the Ani-Men II (Ape-Man II, Bird-Man II and Cat-Man II) before being killed in that identity. So far, he's remained dead to this day. After his death, his elderly mother, Elizabeth Dawes Sterling, tried to get revenge on Daredevil by killing him in an elaborate deathtrap of her own creation, blaming him for her son's death, only to end up dying herself in the process before the deathtrap could even be set, much less used.

Sterling's first identity of the Exterminator has so far never been assumed by anyone else, but briefly another person (a woman) has assumed his second identity of Death-Stalker I. Death-Stalker II (so far as I know) has only appeared once and hasn't been seen since. Her real name remains unknown.

You can get more details on this subject in the Wikipedia article "List of Marvel Comics characters" under "D".
