Thanksgiving 2017
« on: November 19, 2017, 09:52:19 AM »
Might we at least have some cranberry sauce and a bag of mixed nuts...

...to go along with our turkey, pumpkin pie filling, stuffing, and applesauce?

(Sorry.  Best image I could find on a moment's notice, short of taking a picture.)

Now this is more of a Thanksgiving set!

Not really a collector of GPK, however Brent Engstrom did a damn fine job on the Sammy Snood turkey!

I'm surprised they snuck through a porn star character name reference for the turkey with Dirk Dangler

Stole?  Stole?  I beg a thousand pardons, but I would consider it more like liberally and permanently "borrowing."

Actually, what I wanted to do was quote the image over here on this thread, but couldn't find a way to quote something on one thread and then post it on another - though I still believe there must be a way.

Perhaps I can send you a royalty payment in the form of a random OLD6 Ludlow which, come next week, should be worth a cool $350 - $450 (taking into account the latest price increases?)

And, yeah, I can see the Dirk Dangler (Diggler) reference slipping through, though I wouldn't say I am surprised.  Similar, in a way, to the little, metal kitty (pussy cat) playing piece in "Donopoly" - a piece that really has no earthly reason being there, save one.  Crazy artists!  Always trying to slip one past the censors!

Can you guys who worked on these please post better images here than the preview images on the Topps site? I can't read the jokes cuz they get pixelated when enlarged. Thanks!

Scroll up a bit on this thread to the 10 images (generously and thoughtfully ordered and arranged by our own Fanatical and Sickly.)  Smokin' Joe did "Butterbrawl" - the big, fat bird.

LOL. Thanks. I was just razzing you. It was an honor sir, to have you re-quote the image.
Also, that upright horizontal card was really bothering me, as it was turned the wrong way. So I redid it and placed it flat. Huge improvement.

I know.  I'm just messing with you, too.

I just popped over to check out the new and improved image.  Although "Turkey Taffy" no longer fits neatly into the array, it does looks much better.

Now that you got me thinking about it, I somehow wish we could do this with our binder cards, as well.  I've lived with it for years, and I'm sure I'll live with it in the future, but it bothers me to put in a card sideways.  But alas, the 9 card pocket pages and puzzles dictate otherwise.  And then there was one series - offhand, I forget which - in which the sideways cards had to be turned 180 degrees so the backs would be right side up.  That one really bothered me.

And while I'm on it, one last gripe.  The puzzles whose title numbers are out of numerical sequence.  By nature, I am a rather disorderly person, and I must make an effort - I mean, really go out of my way and take time and pains - to maintain any kind of order.  If I don't, things just slide immediately and directly into chaos.  So of course, what am I handed?  A set of cards that, if I keep them in numerical sequence, have disjointed, incomplete puzzles, or, a set of cards that have completed puzzles, but lack any numerical order whatsoever.  So, why don't I just get two sets and arrange the first one way, and the second another?  Arrrgh!  That would just be twice as bad!  I'd still know all along that, in a perfect world, if somebody had done their proper homework, the set(s) wouldn't have to be that way.

Okay, I'm done.  Venting complete.

I see marked as 'shipped' on the Topps website for me as well.
Although on the USPS site, they just indicate "shipping label created, package not yet received.”
That usually means it's another day or two before USPS even receives the package from Topps. And then a full week after that to actually arrive.
It's a slow process.

I'm pretty fortunate when it comes to shipping out the online cards. One of the printers Topps uses is mile from my home, so I usually get it the next day after shipping confirmation!

Is someone here willing to please scan the Wacky cards from this set? At least I would like to get digital images of them to enjoy. Dave posted his original art. I was hoping the other artists would do likewise.
