Alright...you've gotten it out of me....I'm an Olivia Newton-John fan....whew I feel better. :P

Hey, there's no accounting for taste! You'll never hear me knock someone for their taste in music although I might have to bite my tongue real hard if you bring up Hip-Hop or Rap.

As a matter of fact, I recently got a boot of one of her late 2010 performances from her tour of Japan and she sounds pretty good after all these years.

I don't know if this is forgotten or just really obscure. I was recently listening to a rebroadcast of the March 7, 1981 American Top 40 and one of the lead-up teasers that Casey Kasem did was a short blurb about Rod Stewart (Passion was at #16 that week) and his role as a hired session singer for this song which peaked at #56 on Billboard's Hot 100 in 1972. Apparently is was re-released several years after the original release to capitalize on Stewart's success with Maggie May and I'm Losing You. Check it out...

Don't feel bad. I'm a closet Rick Springfield fan. I still listen to his stuff and have most of his recordings.

Hello Martin

I just noticed the little blurb you have "I'll stop the world and melt with you".

I went to college in Miami in early 1980's and that was one huge hit in the sleepy town of Miami back then. Played at the clubs like 1235 and Club Nu. It was a great time to be between 18 and 20 years old. MTV just kicking up.

The album of Modern English was one of my first gifts to a girlfriend then.

That is the last song played in the classic Vally Girl movie. If you haven't seen it in awhile you have to see it again. It's one of my all time favorite movies. I could watch it over and over. Guilty pleasure and Debra Forman was bitchin back then and I thought Nick Cage was amazing. I wanted to be Nick back in the 80's. Get the girl, don't give a fuck about anything. CLassic!

Olivia Newton John is fantastic. I saw her 3 years ago and not only is she still smokin' hot, but can still sing her ass off! I do admit I am more a fan of her early 1970's thru Xanadu phase of her career.

I am also a huge fan of Michael Nesmith of the Monkees. After he left the group he became an early pioneer of country rock (before the Eagles), created MTV, helped create the home video market and his mom invented Liquid Paper. Check out his solo career, it is chock full of quirky, intelligent and melodic songs.

This thread has got me digging into the dark corners of my archives for stuff I have almost forgotten about and so-called Classic Rock stations or even the Oldies (1960s-1980s) stations never seem to play. I really thought these guys would be a hit back in the day but I guess they weren't for everyone. Up next, another band I liked a lot that were in a similar vein and then back to some Prog Rock that I really loved.

Another band that I thought had potential but they only had a few "minor" hits in the mid- to late 70's.

And now back to some lesser-known but quality (imo) 70's Prog Rock. Never mind the obvious similarity to Yes, these guys could really play!

How about some goofy stuff. Anyone remember Dickie Goodman's spoofs from the 70's? Mr. Jaws was my favorite:

That is a great video. Just getting ready to go to work and put on your video. Woke me up. Love the 3 stooges. Great song.

Great to hear you collected Wackys back to 1973. So did I. However for me, they were out of my life till 2003.

Like the photo of your Wacky Pack sorter. I have 2 of those in my house to. They would sit over all my Wacky's if I let them.

Hope your day goes well.

Glad you enjoyed the Stooges videos. They always crack me up. There are quite a few Stooges fans on this forum, which is why I posted these.
Yeah Honey was helping me sort Wackys that day. We have quite a few cats. My wife worked at an animal hospital, so we've taking in many rescues over the years.

My sister and I also made several Dickie Goodman style "breakin" records, as they were called. We used a
trustworthy reel to reel tape deck. We even tried physically cutting and taping together the recording tape but mostly ended up with a mess of scotch tape. Trying to get the songs to cut in and out at the exact correct time was a pain back then.

(In best crochety old-man voice)  Kids today gots it easy with their dang-blasted MP3s...almost every electronic whiz-bang they gots has some sort of dang-blasted record mode. Then theres tons of software available for easily editing the MP3s.
