Metal Postcard Series 7 Binus Card!
« on: April 14, 2017, 10:14:26 AM »
So the Stepper brothers have listed some very cool Metal Wackys from Postcard series 7.  They give some info but it would be great if Neil could tell the story behind these.

Holy Metallics, Batman!  Novel idea, these would have been cool!

They still are, iron-ically!

Paul, at the price they're selling for, they're a steel!  Also a great gag should be preserved forever, I always say!

'Only 72 gold' versions produced - as long as you don't count the 6 they are selling - and any others that they're still holding on to for later....

VERY cool cards. But not feeling the price point. Topps should use them as a promo in the future.

Well one wonders why they haven't been used.  They are completed and paid for, so it seems like Topps would have sold them through eBay at least.  Neil, must know the scoop!

eBay item number:252864602954

That's the Ebay item #. Just put that in the Ebay Search box and you should be good.

I really can't elaborate as I was previously unaware of the auctions. But from what I can recall, the information is accurate.

Why Topps didn't use these cool metal cards is beyond me.  And, Topps, if you are listening, I really miss the postcard sets!!!!!

Looks like both of the three card auctions are spoken for and the price is coming down on the gold card listings.

Topps may or may not still have a nice stack of them
According to the auction:

----------------
Following are the Totals that were shipped to Topps in June of 2011.
They were slated to hit the market during the next postcard release (Series 8 or 9?)

72 Gold (1G)
428 Silver (1S)
2000 Bronze (1B)
---------------

I didn't think bronze singles were available, just in the two sets of gold, silver, and bronze.

I don't know why, but I still like the bronze one.

I think my favorite part of this picture is the microphone facing the Wackys. Do you sing to your collection?   :P

Such as the Barney song, "I love you, you love me..."

Impressive display, by the way!  Have you ever considered adding Joe Simko's "Cereal Killer" boxes to it?

And, alas, I don't believe one ever reaches the point in which a Wacky collection is ever fully complete.  Half of the fun of collecting is in the very act of collecting itself.
