Wow.... Very sad day indeed, but let us all remember how Jay was able to be a part of Wacky's long after their heyday.  Also, the fun times we had with him at the Philly Show and at Greg's apartment, where he did sketches for all of us and signed cards, etc..  He truly was one-of-a-kind, and a very personal artist who was dedicated to his work to his very last day.  RIP, Jay... your humor and contribution to Pop Culture will be a legacy for generations.

We should start another tribute thread here showcasing Jay Lynch's greatest parody work over the years. I'm not a WP veteran like most of you, so I don't know which parodies were all Jay's.

That's great!  I recall a video Jay created about 10,000 sketch cards - anyone have a link?

Very sorry to hear about Jay's passing.  I regret that I never met him in person.  It feels like a small part of my childhood has gone away now.

That video is very cool.  What a treasure trove of stuff that he had stored away.  As he was flipping through those books, I believe I saw some roughs that I had never seen before.  Some of them very funny.  Norm Saunders was the master of Wacky paintings, but when it came to the gags, even Norm himself said he didn't know how they came up with them.

RIP Jay

I was just reflecting on a similar thing.
I was at the NYCC in 2010 and hanging out the Topps booth looking at what they had on display. And while I'm standing there, some of the Topps crew had just arrived at the Con and were walking up to the booth with Jay in tow. Had a few minutes to meet the whole group.
The Topps group started to settle in at their booth, but Jay needed to quickly get over to the Abrams Books area for a signing event he was part of. I knew where the Abrams setup was located, so I gladly volunteered to escort Jay over there so he'd be on time.
After we got to the Abrams booth, Jay went to set up his area for signing, and I went and bought the 2nd Wacky volume, which had just been released. I couldn't pass up the opportunity to have Jay sign it in person, so I brought it right over to him. Jay was more than happy to sign it, and as there was still some time before the signing event started, he then spent a few minutes drawing out a great self-portrait in my copy.
A memorable time, for sure.

The Jay sketch in my avatar is taken from the one in my book.

Patrick, what a cool story! Thanks for sharing that. I was at the Philly show in 2005 at Greg's (as were you) when Jay was there. For whatever reason, I never met him or had him draw me something...and I always regretted it, even more so now. But, Jay will live on in all his sketch cards, comix, Wackys...and in our memories forever. RIP Mr. Lynch.

I can understand creating a memorial card, but grabbing a handful for the sole purpose of auctioning them off on eBay to the highest bidder the following day after the service is beyond low.  It's sickening and despicable.

Just found out about this today when I got a phone call from Kevin (Beanball). Very sad news indeed, One of my great rememberances of Jay will be the 2005 gathering at Greg's apt.
