Can't really explain why, but this is one of my favorites from the 50th:
Not a real product, but yet in my pop culture mind, it is.
Interestingly, according to the artist, although the product itself is generic, the design is based upon "Play-Doh." It seems that on
some parts of the 50th set, the artists were specifically told NOT to create parodies of real products; They had to be generic. To appeal to more fans and collectors, though, the artist based his generic titles around actual product designs which would be familiar to and register with consumers. If you check out the rest of the 50th set, you will find other titles that, although generic, also ring a distinct bell of familiarity.
Addendum: Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a whole 9 card subset devoted to Looney Tunes/Merrie Melodies - if said titles were all rendered in a similar fashion, that is, based upon actual product designs. (Maybe because I grew up with these characters in my living room, they now somehow seem like old and familiar friends.) I'll post the suggestion in more detail on my "Wordy" Ideas thread. Some may want to stone me for my generic, un-Wacky blasphemy, yet so be it.
