Possible ideas for OLDS6
« on: September 19, 2016, 10:34:41 PM »
I've got some ideas for OLDS6(if it's ever made, that is).Since all the previous series had three Wacky cereals, this one's should be spoofs of Fruit Brute(the last Monster Cereal of the 70's(and the only one that was a flop)),Grins and Smiles and Giggles and Laughs(the last major 70's Ralston cereal (Freakies and Moonstones have already been done)) and Klondike Pete's Crunchy Nuggets-Rice(there were two versions of this one,Rice and Wheat).Next, this should also have SpaghettoO's and the last of the three Wacky Magazines left to be released,Rotting Zone(Schnozmopolitan and Tomb have both been done already). Finally, the Topps product(and the puzzle) should be Charlie's Angels Series 1. In fact, I've got a good name for this one-Harry's Devils! That's my two cents worth-so what do you all think? Got any other ideas?

I once posted an idea of a cereal spoof for a possible OLDS6. It was an idea to spoof a variety cereal pack Snatch-A-Pak style then take the mini titles from it and with the 3 Snatch-A-Pak minis create a subset of individual standard size cards for all mini titles. Also, Frute Brute was part of last years Halloween Pack O Fun set. I'm not sure if that disqualifys  that product.

Hi Dave.

Just a small idea I had a few years back while at an antiques show I saw an older bottle of "Frosty Root Beer". I was bored so I was thinking wacky thoughts about the stuff I saw there from the 70"s.

Frosty/Nasty

Root Beer/Foot Beer

Brewed with real trolls feet. (severed foot with 6 toes or foot pieces floating in the bottle)

Dead Wt 12 Toz

Frosty man with beard made to look like a troll with bloody fangs. (<---monster factor, always a plus with wackys!)

If I had any artistic talent I would try to make this one myself, but my stick figures and free hand copying without and foresight of my own = not even going to try.

Thanks for your time Dave, I know your a busy man.

May 2015 be the year I get over my grudge with Topps!!!

( I sent this to Dave(slamjim) last year when he had asked about ideas.)  I never got a reply

To answer the question about Fruit Brute, the Halloween Pack O' Fun Wacky shouldn't be a problem,I think. After all,Count Chocula,Franken Berry and Boo Berry have all been done three times each before-in three separate modern series and the Postcards as well as OLDS. I'm sure finishing it off in OLDS will be just fine. Also, I think that OLDS6 should be,if not the end of the run, then at least the end of the 70's run of this thing. Maybe they could then continue it into the 80's-say,before and after the 1985 series.

I just found out that Eater's Digest was one of the possible candidates for the planned Wacky Magazines sticker cards that Topps planned to do before they put most of them in the 11th,13th,14th and 15th Series. The three exceptions were,of course,Tomb,Rotting Zone and Schnozmopolitan. For more on this subject, check out the Wacky Magazine page on lostwackys.com.

Sliiiightly on and off topic .... BUT!

I WISH!!! They made the monster cereals like they used to with the awesome rounded small marsh-mellows with REAL WHEAT and not the crappy fake plastic tasting cereal.......

Every year the Halloween cereals come back out - They just do not taste anywhere as yummy as they used to.....  :'(

Well, I don't know about the taste part, but the one thing that I hate that the Monster Cereals did was that,in 2013,they went to all that trouble to reintroduce Frute Brute and Fruity Yummy Mummy (even slightly changing the name of the former and making them cherry flavored and orange-cream flavored, respectively) and then,in 2014,THEY TOOK THEM OFF THE MARKET! I hate that! I didn't even get a chance to try both of them because they weren't even in my local grocery stores! Is that stupid,or what? I mean, if they went to all that trouble to bring them back, they should've at least kept them there for good this time! Oh well,at least as far as I know,Fruity Yummy Mummy finally became a official Monster Cereal at last(unless that didn't happen also(and if so,then that sucks too!)).

Did the Olds Series not sell on the last run? Seems like Topps has shelved this offshoot with no reason.

Sorry, must have missed this one. I think going from Frosty to Nasty is a stretch. Maybe Frosty to Footsy.

They already used The Clodfather in the Flashback set. All new, all old products for Old School (unless never produced before)

Did they ever do TastyCakes?  How about TastedCakes, and on the package the picture of the two cupcakes shows both with bites taken out of 'em...and the cream filling oozing out.   That's the modern version though...     The old packaging showed a girl with her arms extended, so that the body forms the "T" in the logo....and the cakes themselves were not depicted on the old packaging.

You could also have "Pesty Cakes", with ants and roaches crawling out, but that might be too similar to Minute Lice.  And I don't think Topps would go for "Testes Cakes."   >(

Love it! Maybe because I had pretty much the same idea a few years ago and submitted it to Topps who rejected it. But coming up with a similar idea as Jay Lynch is better than having Topps' approval any day!

I just thought of another product for this series-Calgon! Maybe it could be Catgon,in order to go with Catgobite(Calgonite) from the 15th series.

I'm surprised there was never a parody of Beech Nut. They made a lot of different products. Beach Nut comes to mind as a parody with potential. "Made with Florida Sand"

Calumet Baking powder always seemed like a natural for me - CaluMUTT Barking Powder.  Would be a profile of a mutt instead of an Indian. "Dog Biscuit recipe on back".
