Massive Collection hitting ebay in the months to come
« on: March 13, 2016, 03:42:30 PM »
I am finally getting off my butt and selling off all of my extras as well as some keeper stuff to raise cash and create more space in my house.  The following is an idea of what is coming:

I have nearly 13,000 series 1 -16 stickers with nearly 50% locked up in complete sets.  There are over 800 series 1 titles including complete glossy backed set.  Reasonably low on the Mag 7 titles but all other titles such as Sleepy, Truant, Runaway, Dr Ono well represented.  All beaters with no borders, writing, tears have been removed.  I am going to start picking through this and sending high grades to PSA for the low population titles.   I also have over 4000 puzzle pieces with again nearly 50% in complete sets, over 140 series 16 puzzle pieces.  If someone wants to buy this all, drop me a line otherwise watch for it all to hit ebay in various forms(sets, PSA singles, teaser lots with some great titles).

A variety of OPC, UK, Shedds, Ludlow singles

A big stash of wrappers including some 10 cent wacky ads

Empty display boxes

Uncut sheets

Original art

Shippper cases

Mail Away posters

Unopened packs including some with great titles like Pupsi and Scoot no copy showing

Unopened Cello UK packs with 8th series stickers showing and UK puzzle.  Enough to make a complete series 8 set - cool!

Diecuts

....and much much more!

Drop me a line if you want me to try to dig out something sooner than later.  I have lost touch with market value on this stuff so it will mostly hit ebay, much of it has no established market value as it is rarely seen!  Will consider private deals of course.

Track my auctions:

Hey everyone

I got over a dozen requests, PMs, emails from this posting that I am going over and responding this weekend.  I really only have time to sort through these requests on the weekend.  Lots of people want the same things which is why much of this is going to ebay as I have no idea of market value any more.  I will likely be creating some lots of 50-100 cards with teaser PSA graded(or high grade not submitted to PSA yet) title, shedds, series 1 luds, key titles for each series, unopened packs and such and sticking them on ebay.

Sticker lots are a fun way to create sets.  When are you going to put more of these lots on ebay?  Will you always include some of the tough titles to finish sets?

yes, I will always include titles that often complete sets in a lot.  I will send you a PM, I am willing to create some custom lots for you, as long as I am moving some volume, you will get key titles that you need.  Doesn't have to all be on ebay.h

What has been sold so far? I'd love to see some of the shipper boxes and uncut sheets. I'm glad I had the opportunity to see your collection when I visited you back in my early collecting days!

Slowly pecking away at the hoard of stickers, wrappers, puzzle pieces as I have series 1-16, shedds, OPC, UK and such.  I have series, 6, 12 and 16 sheets plus some other really rare stuff nobody has ever seen which appears to be various proof items that I will eventually dig out.  I am in no hurry I took 4 years off, I figure for the next 4 years, I will work on selling all my extras and some parts of my keeper collection.  I sold my reissue shippers, have several people asking about my original series shippers(someone coming in late April to see some stuff) including the shippers.  I also have a couple of other 1980s shippers.  Will eventually pull those out and sell.

I am glad we had some hangouts at my place back in the day!  You coming to the pinball show in Allentown this year?  It is not the same weekend as the non sport show which is a major bummer for me as I don't think I can make both shows.  I will probably choose going to the pinball show although I have some deals lined up that might require my coming to the non sport show too.

Hi Ernie!

I wanted to barge in for a nanosecond and mention it's nice to see you around these parts!

If my 51 year old Raisin-Brain serves me well, I believe someone here once mentioned you are enjoying fatherhood.

For any newbies, Ernie and Greg were a couple of the original Clodfathers of Wacky collecting . . .

I see people are catching to my number of forum posts thanks to my nearly 2 year absence.  For anyone wondering, my number of ebay auctions has been slow as I have been doing quite a bit of private transacting.  Original series shippers 5, 10 and 16 have found a new home.

Wackim Joe must have been before my time here. I am afraid to even ask about him if he is mentioned in the same breath as Ron Zombie.

Don't recall Wackim Joe ever being here; my recollection is that he was a Greg forum only dude. Thank the Lord for small favors.

Ahhh, I remember Wackim.  He lived about 30 minutes from me (supposedly) and I was going to try
and find him one day, visit and say hi, probably against my better judgement, as I think he was making some nasty threats to people on the forum.

Then I listened to my better judgement (for once) and abandoned that plan.

So I am doing another round of selling off stuff.  Pretty much I hit a monetary target each spring or end of May, whichever comes first and then I stop cold turkey,  make offers, I always prefer private sales, I love skirting ebay fees thru private sales.  Do beware that often if an item doesn't sell, I shelve it and it may not come back out for years so make offers on items you want, dont assume it will be relisted for less...

I am back from vacation so I'll be blasting out lots of auctions in the coming weeks.  I'm just grabbing stuff off of a big table that has stacks of cards and other goodies.  I prefer off eBay deals where prices will be better.

A couple of forum members have won or inquired on my auctions.  Just a reminder, prices are friendlier off ebay....I save ebay fees and you get the items at lower prices...win, win....

Click on the link below to see active auctions and also check out my completed auctions as some items didn't see, will be relisted soon unless sold privately.

Hey gang, reminder that I prefer off ebay deals.  I generally list items with high end buy it nows, hope to get offers then move the conversation off ebay.  If you see an item that ended early or for some reason never gets relisted after ending with no bids, very likely I did an off ebay deal.  Most recent example is the lot of 13th white backs.

They're not really rare. I think Dan McKee had a pretty large find of them in near perfect shape years ago, so especially amongst high grade examples they are relatively common.

It's a hundred percent fact that last common then the regular backs.  I have over 600 series 1 titles from a variety of sources.  20 - 30% are glossy backs.

What statistical analysis have you done that says that given a batch of high-grade series 1 titles they'll be equal amounts of the glossy backs?  I completely disagree with your analysis.

You misunderstand me. I never said 1st glossies are equally common. I just said they aren't that rare. They are not as rare as 6th glossies, or even 4th glossies. Because of a high grade find of them, I say a higher % of high grade 1sts will be glossy than the general population of 1sts. Of course, either way it will be far less than half glossies.

I didn't misunderstand, you weren't clear in your assertion as you said they are "common" especially in regards to high grades all because of one find by Dan McKee.  I am certain you are wrong.  I checked my spreadsheet, I have 732 series 1 titles, 127 glossies.  I have yet to hear anyone refer to series 1 titles as common as compared with series 4 and series 6 in total populations.  Given that 20% of series 1 titles are glossy, using the word "common" is incorrect.  Perhaps they are not rare but they are also not peanut butter and they not a milllion things so declaring what something is not is of no value.  The are more scarce than regular backed series 1 titles possibly to the tune of 5 to 1 ratio.  I am willing to bet your analysis of series 4 glossys compared with series 1 glossy backs is incorrect too.  I bet in the total population of all wackys, there are more series 4 glossys than there are series 1 glossy backs as series 4 was produced in much high quantities so even if only 10% of all series 4 titles are glossy, there would still be more of them than series 1 but I am fairly certain the glossy ratio on series 4 is much higher than 10%.  I will perhaps take a tally in my hoard, I didn't even bother to distinguish series 4 and 6 glossies in my tallies as I had so many.

I said "relatively common." That is not a precise description, but I meant they are not as rare as 1st tans, ludlows, etc. I see them all the time, if your estimate is 20% then that is not rare in my book.

You referred to them as relatively common you're wrong.  I definitely don't think they're as rare swries 1 luds or tans, I don't know anybody who is making that claim.

So getting back to actually answering your question, obviously just saying they not rare doesn't really help you assess how rare they are.  They are far less common than regular back series 1 titles possibly to the tune of 5 to 1 ratios. Some titles like mutts for some reason seemed particularly hard to find with glossy back as I know of a few collections that were all missing that same title. I am confident in saying I have had exposure to more series 1 titles than 99% of the people in the hobby.  I can also give you some ratios on the various die cutting of series 1 titles too.  Un like a few of the others who have amassed huge collections of these I actually look at them noticing nuances like diecuts, shades, backs...

Okay. I never actually knew that they were tougher to find since some of my keeper set is glossy.

You count up all of those 6th series glossies you have so many of, I bet you have fewer of those than 1st series glossies. And I didn't mean there are more 1st glossies than 4th glossies in absolute numbers, but as a percentage of each series' total numbers. That may or may not be true, I'm just going anecdotally. I remember looking through a box Dan had at a Philly show that was full of nothing but 1st glossies. I stand by my statement that 1st glossies are not that rare, sure it's an imprecise statement, it translates into: I see them all the time.
