Original Series 6 shipper on ebay

Have at it folks, I don't plan to bid on it for two reasons:

1) I don't really have any more space for shipping cases unless I start getting rid of some newer ones.
2) this shipping case is nothing more than a series 5 shipping case with a series 6 sticker on it and I already have the series 5 shipping case(even though my series 5 case is in very roungh shape

I did find it interesting that Topps resused the series 5 shipping case.  Are there any truly new series 6 shipping cases or were series 5, 6 and 7 reusing boxes and shipping cases during this mass production era of wackys?

you mean series 3, right?
but I see what you mean, as your 5th series case is also using a 3rd series version with a 5th series sticker slapped over all the code numbers.
it doesn't seem like it would be cheaper to print up more of the same boxes and stick labels on them, just like with the blue and yellow display boxes used from 4th-7th, than to actually change the code #'s. but it must have been about the $$.

Good point but since I have never seen a series 3 shipper to verify it has the code on it that we expect, I refer to it as series 5.  I guess I should peel back one of the series 5 stickers to see what is written underneath.  What the heck, I will go do it now.

Why didn't they just produce one box style and print stickers of the correct code and series and slap em on?  This is in effect what warehouses do today with pallets and shipping boxes.  The contacts are described by the printed label stuck on the same cheaply mass produced boxes.

Yup, my shipper says "third series" as expected.  I don't know if I ever report the code on the 5th series sticker for those doing a good job of linking all of these codes across packs, boxes and shippers: 5-460-54-01-3
