If Topps does a regular Wacky Packages series in 2016...

...do you think a 2016 Wacky Package Sticker series could do a sticker spoof regarding the recent threat of ZIKA VIRUS (One example: Helpless Zikaers, a spoof of Hostess Zingers cakes)?

I think spoofing a virus linked Microencephalapoly would never happen by Topps for good reason.

What do you mean by MICROENCHEPHAPOLY?

I think it was a spelling mistake - there is apparently a possible link between the Zika virus and microcephaly in newborn babies of infected mothers.  It is also linked to neurologic problems such as Guillain–Barre syndrome in adults.  We have West Nile cases from mosquitos here on LI, and the doctors are saying this looks more dangerous.  I doubt Topps would want to make light of something like this, and the kids probably wouldn't get it anyway.

To add to this(and this is just my two cents worth),I think that's why Topps never did a parody of Tylenol back in the 1970s(and still hasn't,by the way). The Tylenol poisonings were big news back then, and to do such a thing would've been in bad taste at best and offensive at worst.

Those poisonings took place in 1982.

Why do you think this would be a good idea?

Bad taste and offensiveness is the M.O. of the average Wacky. I don't see any issues.

There is a huge difference between the type of humor that Topps puts forth with Wackies and humor that seeks to make tragedy funny.

The former is meant to put a smile on your face and make your heart sing a little. The latter comes from a dark place and brings nothing positive to the world.

I agree; however, all those companies that sent cease and desist letters probably didn't think that wacky packages put smiles on their customers' faces.

I still think of wacky package names whenever I go to the grocery store.  Slopicana is one that always sticks out in my mind when I buy orange juice -- and I wouldn't buy any other brand simply because of wacky packages!

I keep mine backwards in a colored back sleeve so it can't be seen.  And, I won't show anyone the otherwise awesome Lost binders I have because it is smack in the top middle on the back of them.

Does Dolly Madison still produce snacks?  I remember seeing the ads during the Peanuts Holiday specials but I don't recall ever trying them.

I have the card and the binder and feel the same way. That should be called a "Forbidden Wacky" ,  not a Lost Wacky.   >:D

This brings up an interesting point. I have noticed that comedians, TV shows, etc. will use certain diseases in a humorous context. I used to think this odd but then slowly realized it was a very fine line with some "rules". It seems to be acceptable to use ailments  like malaria, leprosy, polio, chicken pox, etc. but not others like cancer, for example. I think this boils down to a difference between conditions we have cures for, and are considered to be conquered by medicine and science in some respect versus diseases that can still run rampant and affect many people in very dangerous ways.  We can make light of polio, because it is no longer of immediate concern or high risk.

Very good point! Timing is everything. If and when there's a cure for cancer, I'm sure it will be considered fair game.

The company - Hostess Brands - still makes Zingers under the Hostess and Dolly brands.

Consider a Dolly Madison parody if Wacky Packages Old School 6 ever gets a green light - Kickstarter campaign or not.

On a side note, it is extremely difficult finding vanilla zingers. Raspberry is all over the place but the vanilla (that tastes a bit lemony) is a unicorn.

Have you specifically asked any of the artists privately if they are working on this set? That's the ticket. I will PM someone and report back.

I recall speaking with the new Topps rep at the last Philly show. He confirmed one new WP Retail release per year and Wacky MLB this year.  So last fall the plan was to do one WP retail release in 2016; but at the time they were focused on Wacky MLB for early 2016 . That probably pushed Wacky 2016 towards the later part of 2016.

Hopefully not the same Topps person who put those redemption cards in Wacky Chrome, which Topps won't honor.  (Sorry to be so cynical this early in the morning, but Topps just hasn't been the same the past few years...in the post-Jaspersen era.)

I'm sure this is the "before" picture, how about the destruction afterwards?
Was milk involved?
Did it get messy?
Was there a sugar hangover?
I hate to pry, but some of us need to know.
