I agree completely. It does not bother me or upset me because it is the truth. In a way I am glad as it has helped me a time or two to acquire a few one of a kind reissue items that otherwise would have been more difficult to purchase if there was more interest. On that note, I am super grateful to a few collectors here that over the years, have been kind enough to sell me those items...so that I was able to really have a unique collection.
Now if someone would be so kind as to start a GoFundMe page for the purchase of the original art for Ice Krunkles………………………..

Kidding of course lol......

You could have had that piece for a song years ago.  I might have even owned it at one time briefly.  I do remember identifying "Snoot" as a Saunders piece when it was up for auction & grabbing it for a decent price.  I think we ended up figuring out it was painted for the 15th or 16th series later.  Is Toser still in operation out there doing the magazine & auctions, etc.?

I believe Roxanne and Marlon sold the magazine to Beckett Media, but they're still doing shows.

A big thanks to RawGoo and Zenergizer for helping to fill the empty place in the Reissue Museum!
Zenergizer is visiting for the weekend and we are having a blast! What a great guy!
And RawGoo, you were right, the second series box is beautiful!

The Reissue Shrine is incredible!  And he has a lot more that's in the case.  Trinkets, some glasses, banks, posters, anything and everything you can imagine!

And if you all ever have the chance to either chat with, or deal with, or visit this incredible dear friend of mine, you will be blessed!

1979-80 re-issues
« Reply #111 on: August 23, 2021, 10:55:28 AM »
This doesn't quite belong in Original Series, so I'll put it here. I believe there were 4 sets of "re-issues" (reprints) in 1979-80. Each was 64 cards, so 256 cards total. If there were about 480 (30 stickers times 16 Original Series, give or take some sets had 33), so which series were underrepresented in the reprints? Any glaring omissions (besides pulled titles) of stickers that didn't get re-issued??? Just curious...

I merged your new post with this existing thread about the reissues.

There were 4 sets, each with 66 stickers, for a total of 264 sequentially numbered stickers.  The 4th series included a title not included in Series 1-16, Ice Krunkles.

It always seemed to me that they represented a good cross section of all 16 series, but I could be mistaken.

Also, there were five titles used twice, I guess 258 original series titles used?

I have often wondered how they filled out these sets. Maybe going through each series and first using titles perceived to be least risky of a C&D? Then doubling back for later reissue series?

Also, has anyone ever figured out why Blast Blue Ribbon is amongst the 5th series titles?

And don't forget, Pat, a 5th set of 66 more stickers was announced for at least 1980, but was never released. If it had been, it would've contained 13 hard-to-find (at the time) Die-Cut and 1st Series titles.

Can someone show the checklist to this series, please, so everyone can see I'm not talking through my hat here? I know someone has it here somewhere.

Oh, btw, Pat, it's Frosted Ice Krunkles.

Does anyone but me remember that Sugar Rice Krinkles were the ancestor of Pebbles?

You mean Rice Krinkles.

By the way, if Krinkles were discontinued in 1969, when was the Ice Krunkles wacky created?

Okay, but I was using the full name of the Wacky, not the real name.

I didn't know Rice Krinkles were discontinued in 1969. I'll try to find out when Fruity Pebbles and Cocoa Pebbles were first released.

Thanks, fixed. I didn't even notice that until now. Silly me!

And, I just found out two things:

*The full name of the original cereal was Sugar Rice Krinkles. Maybe the real name on the Master Spreadsheet is wrong.
*Fruity and Cocoa Pebbles were both released in 1971, two years after Sugar Rice Krinkles was discontinued.

Yes, only I don’t think Frosted Rice Krinkles was discontinued when Sugar Rice Krinkles morphed into Pebbles. The packaging similar to the wacky seems to date from around 1972. I can’t find a reference to when FRK was discontinued.

Here is a cool article about the packaging….

Several years ago when Paul’s WP Gallery book came out, I got curious about this myself, and did a manual count of titles reprinted from each OS series, first in the 1979-80 Reissues but also the 1982 Albums, where another handful of titles were reprinted for the first time.  I don’t remember a lot of specifics as far as the results, but i’m fairly sure the 9th series was the most under-represented, followed by 11th I believe.  But beyond that, no major differences from series to series.  But any number of factors could have played a part - titles C&D’d, available high-resolution artwork, etc.

From what I can gather, Frosted Rice Krinkles survived until sometime into the 1980s (I don't know when, though). The Wacky, Frosted Ice Krunkles, was released in 1980, so it pretty much fits into that timeframe.

Since the box art you showed me was dated 1972, the 12th Series was released in 1975 and the aforementioned Wacky was (as mentioned) released in 1980, I'd have to estimate that the cereal may have been discontinued by at least the early 1980s. Certainly it did not survive into the 1990s.

Though tbph, I'm surprised Post didn't make it into another Pebbles variety and call it Frosted Pebbles a long time ago.

Wasn't Krunkles one of the many titles cut from the 12th series, along with Fool-Aid?  I'm probably missing a brain synapse, but without looking it up that would've been my guess anyway even though it looks alot more like a 13th.

That being said... has anyone ever figured out the 30 vs. 33 mystery of Wackys?  Like, were ALL the 1-16 series originally SUPPOSED to have 30 or 33 titles before all the cuts/additions/replacements happened, based on how the sheets are printed.  Or was there never an actual target.  I always felt like the 1-16 series were simlar to the months of the year, 30, 33, 30, 33... and then the 12th series was like February.

Yes, Frosted Ice Krunkles, Fool-Aid and Midget Rice were all pulled from the 12th Series. They were finally published at last as one of the 64 base cards (Frosted Rice Krunkles) and two of the eight Lost Wackys cards (Fool-Aid and Midget Rice) in Wacky Pack Flashback.

The 79-80 Reissue's are in this order in my opinion for value at the moment:
Series 2
Series 4
Series 1
Series 3

Series 2 can go for between $400-$600
Series 4 can go for between $200-$400
Series 1 can go for between $200-$350
Series 3 can go for between $85-$140

Obviously condition and day of the week (who is bidding) makes a difference. These are averages that I have seen and paid over the years.
I have overpaid at times because I wanted one bad enough and at the time there were no others for sale but thats how it goes.

Thats your choice. There is a lot of series 3 stuff out there so I would leave it sealed but thats me. If you just looking to get ahold of a set of stickers they are easy to come by. I have several.

Glad to see another reissue fan on the forum!

I'm amazed these sets are going for that much. The printing is inferior to the originals and they are mostly straight reprints.

This is a reference to full boxes, not sets. However, I'd agree that these numbers seem high to me...though Jeff would know, so I believe him.

Series 4 are superior to the originals. 1 and 2 are basically the same as the originals. And Series 3 is just really poorly done.
