1979 Test Wrapper or Pack
« on: October 06, 2015, 06:22:35 PM »
I'm hoping to fill a hole in the Reissue collection. Condition is really not that important. A wrapper would work but failing that an unopened pack is ok also.

Someone must have an extra they would part with :)

No, probably not likely on the unopened pack, at least. These were a lot more available 15 years ago. Deep pocketed collectors have been trying to complete the sticker set, and many packs have been opened in the past decade. I was offered $750 for my pack last year. The wrappers you would think would surface if packs are being opened, but I haven't seen any lately.

Thanks for the information. I sold my wrapper a few years ago but cant recall who purchased it. It had a chuck missing in one corner. I think its the one Rusty is using as the example on his site. Pretty sure I sent him the scan.
I would buy that one back if I could recall who had it lol.

Isn't there a test wrapper on ebay?  I thought I saw one for around $80.

$80 would be a fantastic price for a 1979 Test Wrapper, wouldn't it?

Sorry, no extra 1979 test wrapper.

PM me your address and I'll scare up some reissue singles for you.  I think you already got the last extra complete set I had, but will look around.

You are very kind, I'm ok though I just won a couple of auctions and should have a couple hundred stickers on the way :)

That too funny! Just before the fire I worked an off Ebay deal with a seller for a lot of over 400 wrappers and a dozen empty boxes.

Looks like the main serious re-ish registry collector is trying to liquidate everything. Assuming you're not willing to drop $5K I think it will be a hard sell.

Interesting auction for sure. $19.00 each is too high for me. I'm going to continue to build my set at the $6 per card level.

I remember I got my unopened pack from Greg the first time I visited his apartment in Philly. I paid $200 for it. I was short on cash, but at least the local WaWa had no ATM fees!

Were most of these packs killed to confirm the various theories as to the titles in this set?

I will be good with a wrapper and one sticker. I can frame them together.

I think a bunch have been killed by those trying to put the set together, notably Eric R.
