Fun Pack bags from the 1970's, any other exist unopened?
« on: June 30, 2015, 07:29:12 PM »
Aft er reading the thread on unopened wacky packs, I thought about UNOPENED FUN PACK BAGS. I have collected many of these with  sports combined with non sports from the late 1970's and early 80's. In reading the Wacky Packages Gallery, on page 105, it mentions about Fun Pack bags with wackys in them. It mentions only 2, one with "30 packs of 7th series gumless packs" and "27packs of 1979 reissue set 1 packs". A pic of these is also included in the Gallery. I have one I got about 12 years ago, that contains green packs from the original series. I will post a pic in next 1 to 2 days(have to get to where it is stored). Curious if any others exist that anyone knows of? Assume most did not survive unopened.

There is definitely a green fun pack with a 12th series wrapper and a 1st series UK puzzle piece. Some fun pack bags have combinations of all different kinds of packs, so the possibilities are endless. I've seen bags with wacky reissue packs together with Football, Star Wars, etc.

Sorry, prematurely started this post without putting up picture. I believe the Fun pack bag I have has only Wacky packs(and nothing else)
they are all green wrapped, and thinner packs than typical. Again, I will post as soon as I can. Thanks for your insight so far.

This is the Fun Pack Bag. I count 5 wacky packs, all green as seen on scan. Also 1974 baseball, 1974 football, and 74-75 basketball packs. My question had to do with how many of these bags with wacky packs may have survived. The wackys in this bag are different from the 2 bags listed in the gallery.

The gallery is far from exhaustive. They basically just listed the stuff they had seen, it is by no means everything that exists.

The Gallery has been outdated back from when I first started looking at it, when Topps Vault started letting
thier stuff go. Example was when they listed only few UK packs known. Then one went up for auction
on ebay from the vault. Within a year, a whole box of UK packs was sold. That was about 2003.

Remember the Original art for Wacky packs going up for sale often then from the Vault. Has been over 10 years
since I looked at their auctions, dont know if they're still letting old wacky pack items go.

Also remember a large number of wacky pack labels(for cans) go for a large amout of money, from the vault.

John and I opened up a Blue-pack fun-bag years ago.  Can't remember how many packs there were.  7 or 9.  And they were the 'gumless' 7th series blue packs, I think.  We were trying to document the sticker breakdown and whether or not they contained Grime Heavy's or Greasy's.  It's been so long, though, that I don't remember what we found.  We took photos.  But I've been out of it so long I don't know where they'd be.  I've owned a total of 3 unopened fun-bags, which either got opened or traded as-is, and their fate is unknown.  I think there were at least 4 or 5 varieties, though, including some with 79 reprints, and some with UK's.

I pulled this Grime Heavy from a gumless pack...ended up as a PSA 10! But I've also pulled Dustys, I don't think there's any real correlation.

It appears there were fun bags with series 16 packs in them.  Anyone ever come across any?

Sorry, my bad, I wasn't referring to that bag in particular, I was trying to put my new found information in the right thread but inadvertently quoted that posting.

I have found something that indicates series 16 was in fun bags.  Will elaborate more down the road when the item arrives.  Just was curious if anyone had seen evidence or seen such a bag up til now.

I used to buy the fun bags all the time, and I never found a Series 16 pack in one.  That would have been so cool!!  Looking forward to hearing more about your recent find.

I just added two sell sheets I was missing, this being one of them. Clearly shows series 16 pics in the bag.  I have no reason to believe that picture is hypothetical as all other sell sheets seem to show real products.

I would have been thrilled to get a Series 16 pack in a fun bags since I hadn't ever seen it before.  Here's the sell sheet, since the image will eventually not be available on ebay.
